BOOK 1: IS THIS LIFE?
CHAPTER 1: DESOLATED LANDSCAPE
From the sky large numbers of clouds gathered throughout the city, while from them, a large number of drops of water fell to the ground, a ground stained with the thickness of the blood of hundreds of thousands of bodies.
The high walls that guarded the entire city were now destroyed, as if a giant had broken through them, the buildings and small houses, formed a sea of concrete in which countless fallen bodies could be seen.
The whole area seemed desolate, while the rain continued to fall, although some crows appeared around the place, eating and trying to scrape the clothes from the corpses.
As a crow ate the guts of a rotting corpse, suddenly the sound of an arrow was heard buzzing in the air, this arrow was heard only a second before the crow could hear it, he felt a great deal of danger, but his vision and perception were quick. So with a shout he dodged it, then began to look towards the place where the arrow came from.
But, the next moment, another arrow was heard immediately, this caused the crow to fly away, sensing the danger around it.
After the second arrow, a third appeared, and a fourth, the crow had animal instincts, so it ran away while dodging, the arrows kept falling, but the crow dodged them easily, it didn't look like a normal crow, its speed exceeded that of the other birds, but the next moment, while worrying about the arrows that appeared.
He couldn't see that a small dagger, it reached his neck, this dagger was fast and accurate, as if he had done it many times before, the crow couldn't notice it, all his attention had been on the arrows and the buzzing sound they produced.
The dagger pierced his neck, as the crow let out a small screech before dying.
The arrows also stopped. And a little boy came forward, while grasping the headless body of the crow.
He looked at all the arrows, picking them up slowly, the other crows were not interested in the crow he had just killed, they were just screaming chirps for him to move away from his food.
This little boy, with scruffy and torn clothes, dirt on his face, and unkempt hair was none other than Adrian.
Although he was a small child on the surface, his gaze and face remained cold, as he carried the raw crow to his mouth. He had been very hungry, so he didn't care about the taste or the feathers, he just swallowed them quickly.
After eating, he quickly passed where the arrows had been thrown.
He had created a small system with ropes so that they would shoot at a specific point, this was something his father had taught him.
Since I didn't have a bow, it was the best thing I could use.
The rain seemed like it wasn't going to stop for long, the boy looked up at the sky.
When I look at him. He gritted his teeth, and his fists, he really hated what he saw in the sky, he hated it with all his being.
There was nothing but hatred when I looked up at the sky.
In the high heaven where countless people looked on or revered.
In that sky, there was a golden hand holding a sword. A hand which pierced all space and a sword that seemed to point to the whole world. This hand and this sword were of a huge size, so much so that anyone who looked at it would feel fear.
But there wasn't just that, if you could look a little closer, you could notice that, on the tip of the sword, there was a face. A face of a red, bloody demon. Which exuded an intense sense of death.
However, while Adrián looked at the sky, at the hand and the huge sword.
Suddenly, the crows around him began to chirp as if they felt a deep fear.
When Adrian heard them, he began to escape, at that precise moment, he just ran as fast as he could. He passed several destroyed tents, as well as corpses on the ground.
But he didn't care, this was a critical moment.
Suddenly from the sky, a very thick fog began to fall, this fog was purple, but as it fell, you could also hear intense chewing sounds, as if something was eating. The sound was so horrifying, you could hear the bones cracking, whatever I was eating, was coming very fast towards the ground.
Adrian suspected that this would happen today, so he quickly entered a carriage pulled in the middle of the road, entered and took out his dagger while quickly entering through the padded seat, towards a dark area that he himself had dug in this place.
Quickly, I also place several small rocks on the ground covering the entire entrance.
The chewing sounds became deeper, while Adrian waited holding his dagger towards the entrance door of his cave, at the same time trying to breathe as slowly as possible. As if he wanted to disappear his entire existence so as not to be noticed.
But the sound began to be heard closer, the chewing of bones, began to sound throughout the place where Adrián was. It was a sound which would make the bones tremble of anyone who heard it, and soon from the entrance of the cave a thick mist began to creep in.
Adrián, frightened, approached to try to prevent the fog from passing, putting all his weight, and pressing the entrance with all his strength, at the same time trying not to cause any sound.
The dagger still had him nearby, but it was not to attack the fog, it was only to kill himself, in case he was caught, he had seen how the fog ate and savagely tore apart the inhabitants of the city, he did not want this to happen to him.
So the sound of chewing entered forcefully throughout the cave, while Adrian panted desperately so that it would not enter.
Hours passed quickly, before the fog began to slowly disappear from the place.
Adrian knew that the day had arrived, he still had several tears in his red eyes, in addition to the fact that his hands and feet were trembling, he fell to the floor trembling and at the same time tired, his chest did not stop throbbing, while he regained his composure.
In the end, he could only sigh again, while there would be the entrance and he went outside, before there were many skeletons in this place, now most of them had disappeared.
Adrian followed with a cold expression, as he looked towards a gigantic destroyed pavilion into the distance, this pavilion had more than ten floors in addition to several iron columns around it, it must have been something impressive in the past, but now it was just pieces of garbage in this devastated city.
Adrian had tried to approach that pavilion since the city had been destroyed, so he had advanced slowly, along the way he had encountered some wild beasts such as wolves, which caused him several injuries, but he had narrowly managed to escape.
Adrian didn't know why he had such an interest in his life, his whole family had died, but every time he saw the sky, he always remembered it.
"I'll tear you to pieces someday!" – That was his resolution, his way of life, something that wouldn't let him die.
