I stared at the note again.
My fingers trembled, but I clenched them into fists. "Coward," I muttered.
Lucas leaned against the lockers beside me, silent and tense. He hadn't let go of me since I showed him the note. I could see it in his eyes—he was already plotting. Already in fight mode.
"I'm not scared," I said.
He didn't smile. "Good. But I am."
That made me pause.
"I'm scared of what I'll do to him if he touches you," Lucas said darkly.
That made me feel something I didn't expect: safe.
But we both knew this wasn't just about drama anymore. Ayo had crossed a line. He wasn't just a jealous ex—he was becoming dangerous.

I knew Ayo was watching. I could feel him somewhere in the crowd as Jasmine and I walked to my car.
So I made it obvious—opened her door, kissed her cheek, and made her laugh.
It wasn't just for him.
It was for her, too. To remind her that she wasn't alone. That she was mine now.
But as we drove off, I caught a glimpse in the rearview mirror.
