[JASMINE – POV]
He caught up with me behind the gym. I was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, trying not to look like I was about to cry.
"Jas—wait," Lucas said, breathless.
I didn't move. Didn't blink. "You let her touch you like I wasn't even there."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "I didn't know she'd come. I didn't invite her—"
"That's not the point," I snapped. "You didn't say anything. You didn't push her away. You let her talk to me like I was some... some girl in your way!"
His jaw clenched. "I froze, okay? I didn't expect to see Rachel again. But Jasmine, I swear, she means nothing now."
"You should've made that clear then," I whispered.
He stepped closer. "Don't walk away from me."
"I'm not walking away, Lucas." I looked up at him, voice trembling. "I'm just not playing second to anybody."
Then I turned around and left—again.
But this time... it hurt more.
[LUCAS – POV]
She's right.
I should've said something. Done anything. But Jasmine doesn't understand—I've never cared like this before. And that scares the hell out of me.
I let her walk away again.
But not for long.
