It's another beautiful day in the world of Ygdrasil!
The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming! And what's this? I have over six hundred thousand gold in my Inventory?
My oh my!
How did I get so rich you ask?
Did I work all night grinding the hardest dungeon in the game?
Don't be ridiculous, none of that fancy stuff is open yet to us beta testers. We are only in early access after all.
Maybe I came across some world tier item that passively generates gold?
As if I'm that lucky! Of course not!
What I did come across however... Is another exploit!
Yes ladies and gentlemen! And it's not me simply selling the items I dupe to whatever poor NPC unfortunate enought to cross my path!
But a real, gold fountain of a glitch!
Let's go into detail about how the currency system in Ygdrasil works shall we?
See, there are three types of currency according to the system, two in reality, one that you need to pay real money for to use in the in-game store, and another that you can get from opening whatever chest you find digging into the ground.
But the one that truly interests us… is the third kind.
The forgotten gold. The kind only NPCs touch.
Specifically?
Shopkeepers.
Now while other players think that that gold is the same one they have in their pockets, they could not be more wrong!
You see, NPCs—especially shopkeepers—don't actually own anything.
No personal stash. No vault. Not even a coin pouch.
Their shops however? Oh what a treasure trove of shiny gold!
'That's just you stealing from the shop! It doesn't count as a glitch!' you might say?
Well, you're not entirely wrong, but tell me, is it viable to make millions by only stealing the spare change usually found in shop Inventories before the players flood into the market?
Please, don't make a fool of yourselves, you're better than that!
Now what we will be doing ladies and gentlemen, is something others call 'taking a loan'. But I prefer to consider it a form of unequivalent exchange.
So what we will be doing is talking to this nice gentleman manning the wepons' shop counter.
''Its rare to see dragonoids such as yourself in these parts.''
Don't mind the boring generic dialogue, there's money to be 'borrowed'!
''I would like to take a loan of ten thousand gold, if that's possible sir.''
''Can't do, business has been slow these days, most I can give out is five thousand.''
Oh how lovely! That's an extra 5000 gold to be made!
Now you might think that it's not that much of an exploit, since I'd have to pay it back or face consequences such as a lower credit score or hostility from the guards, but here's the near part.
I don't.
Since I won't even be taking the loan in the first place. No, what I will be doing however, is stealing all five thousand pieces of gold right as the animation for the clerk giving me the money works.
What this does is very simple, it doesn't duplicate the gold, nor does it make it simply vanish.
Well, it does vanish, but in a much more simple manner.
You see, to the clerk's knowledge, he gave me no gold whatsoever during the transaction!
And to the shop's knowledge, the five thousand gold that disappeared was taken by the clerk!
And to my knowledge, I nabbed all five thousand when they were being transferred between the shop and me through the clerk!
Meaning I neither face the consequences of stealing from the shop, not do I have to pay my loan back!
So it's as if I got this money as a donation!
Now that I gained 5000 extra gold, I can use it to buy stuff from the shop and restock the shop's supply, but what really interests us are more high profile targets.
Such as the bank!
The Asgard royal Bank is the one singular money mover in all 9 realms, usually, to even gain access to it's first floor you would need a direct deposit of 750k gold upfront!
Now isn't that just a scam?
What's worse is that the best benefit you would get is a mobile shop in the form of a dainty little phone.
And you only get access to the items you can already buy in most shops at half the price!
We cannot let this evil stand!
So now that we stand in one of their branches located in the capital of Valheim. A couple clicks and we can see that the bank has over twenty million gold ready to be used!
Of course I can't ask for all of it at once, my relationship value with them is currently bellow neutral due to being a heteromorph after all, but what if I fed them back the same money I 'borrowed' from them?
Every donation, every coin handed back to them…
Stolen from their own vault in the first place.
A donation? A repayment?
Call it what you want.
I call it interest-free investment fraud.
And our second exploit of the day, the be one with the wind levels of stealth is how we will be achieving our grand heist!
By using the siting function, talking to an NPC, and using the sit emote all at once, we have a brief window of time to use our recall crystal and teleport away from the NPC!
What this does is trick their ai into believing that we're still on that bench, talking to them, browsing their wares, asking about their day.
When in reality, we're already passed them, heading straight towards the interior of the bank.
Now it's only a matter of bringing someone that can approve the loan along with us here, and voila!
All the money that you could ever want for all your Yorkshire tea needs!
