Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: This System Seems a Bit Off

Douluo Continent, southwest of the Heaven Dou Empire.

Holy Soul Village. That's right! The infamous newbie village where countless transmigrators get their start. And of course, the village chief of this newbie hub—good ol' Grandpa Jack.

Suifeng stared blankly, bored out of his damn mind, while old Jack proudly rattled off the glorious history of Holy Soul Village.

"Suifeng, the reason our village is called Holy Soul Village is because we once had a Soul Saint born here!"

[A single Soul Saint got you this hyped? You f*cking serious? Do you even realize your village is going to give birth to a god in the future? That's right. That god—none other than Tang San, the protagonist.]

Just thinking of Tang San made Suifeng feel like shit. They were the same age—six years old. On the surface, Suifeng looked like any other kid, but inside, his intelligence blew regular people out of the water. A freakin' prodigy detective.

Oops. That's a crossover slip...

Anyway, their personalities clicked, so they got along well. You could even say they were pretty tight.

But Suifeng had no plans to latch onto the protagonist's leg like some damn sidekick. A blacksmith needs strong arms to forge his blade. If you've got no strength of your own, everything else is just an illusion—like flowers in a mirror or the moon reflected on water. Maybe they're close now, but sooner or later, the rivers and lakes will pull them apart.

"Yeah yeah, Grandpa Jack, you've told me that story like, 800 times already. Hmph, I'm not listening anymore! I'm off to find Tang San!"

He made a face and stuck out his tongue.

"Blehhhh~"

"You little rascal." Watching the boy run off still glowing with childish innocence, old Jack cursed playfully, grinning from ear to ear.

He stroked his white beard, his eyes full of warmth.

Around the corner—

"Ughhh~"

Even though Suifeng had been pretending to be cute for years now, he still wasn't used to it.

Six years. Six f*cking years! You have any idea what I've been through these past six years?

In my past life, I was an orphan too. Then I got adopted by some rich folks and lived a cushy life full of rotten luxury.

But—but—they made me study math, physics, and chemistry!

And they had the balls to say, "Master math, physics, and chemistry, and you'll fear nothing under the heavens." Can someone explain what the f*ck that's supposed to do for me in Douluo Continent?

Might as well have studied cosmetology. At least that counts as a damn skill here.

Suifeng died in his previous life racing on Mount Akina. Mid-drift on a series of turns, an AE86 clipped him and sent him flying off a cliff. Boom. Game over.

Now what? Some Douluo powerhouse gonna transmigrate into my body and bring martial spirits into the modern world? Get promoted, become general manager, CEO, marry a hot rich woman, dominate life? Sounds thrilling?

That's such bullsh*t. Not even shitty webnovels write crap like that anymore. What's next? Kill a husky and get a house-wrecking soul skill?

Or kill a poodle and get the soul skill "f*ck the sky"???

In this world, Suifeng was still an orphan. Supposedly, one day while Grandpa Jack was walking by the river, he saw a bamboo basket floating in the water. He didn't think much at first. But when it drifted close, he saw a cute baby boy inside!

The rest was textbook. Village chief took him in and raised him.

Old folks love their past stories. And not just once—every f*cking time he brought it up, Suifeng wanted to shave his head bald and walk west for Buddhist scriptures.

"Sigh... orphan in my past life, orphan in this one. Am I just fated to be f*cking orphaned forever? What's next? Awakening the Orphan System?"

Suifeng mocked himself with a bitter laugh. He was just grasping at straws. There's no such thing as a system in this world. That sh*t's not scientific.

[Ding~ Since the host mentioned the word 'system,' this system has been automatically activated!]

The voice inside his head startled Suifeng.

What the hell? A system? For real? And activation's this easy? Just say "system" and boom?

Then what the f*ck have I been doing these past six years???

At most, I'd fantasized about it a couple times. Never actually believed systems were real. Just delusions cooked up by other transmigrators.

I'm a product of the 21st century, raised under nine years of compulsory education. I believe in knowledge! I believe in science!

Knowledge changes fate. Positions only change posture!

But now, hearing this voice so clear in his mind—

To hell with science!!!

"Uh... Hello? Are you... the Orphan System?" Suifeng asked, unsure.

Silence.

So silent that Suifeng thought maybe he imagined the whole thing.

[This system is the Invincible Myth System, not some Orphan System!]

Holy sht! Suifeng's eyes lit up. Did you fcking hear that? The Invincible Myth System!!!

Invincible. Myth-tier. Just the name screams badass.

That means I'm gonna be invincible in the future! Ruling by day, cuddling beauties by night!

I want the sky to no longer blind my eyes, the earth to no longer bury my heart. I want all living beings to know my will, and for all the buddhas to disappear like smoke!!!

———

Hello everyone, I am the Invincible Myth System. This is already my tenth host. The previous nine... all died.

I don't know what's wrong with transmigrators these days. The second they hear they've got a system—especially one called the f*cking Invincible Myth System—they go absolutely bonkers.

Break off an engagement and scream in public: "Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river, don't you dare bully the poor young man!"

Then dump the girl~

Then start flexing like they're invincible. Overconfident. Cocky as hell. And boom, they get killed.

Like, chill the f*ck out, okay? I'm not some sign-in system where you level up just by breathing.

I'm a quest system. You need to build slowly. Develop smart. Show off later, dumbass.

If this tenth host dies too, I'm screwed. The Great Universe will wipe my ass off the system list~

But now I'm reading this host's thoughts and I'm freaking out~ (-)

What do I do? Waiting online! Very urgent!!!

After all that hype, Suifeng finally remembered—Don't most systems come with a newbie gift pack?

What's mine?

"System, where's my newbie gift pack?"

Silence again.

[From now on, please think commands silently. No need to speak out loud. To check your gift pack, silently think: system inventory.]

So the system just synced up with me? Kind of laggy. Even voice output has a delay?

Maybe the server's slow. Whatever. First, let's check that gift pack!

He silently thought "system inventory," and boom—a grid-based interface popped into his mind like some MMO or Dungeon Fighter Online setup.

Ten slots total. Should be able to hold ten items. No idea if size matters or if duplicates stack.

That's for later. Right now, the first slot had the newbie gift pack!

He silently thought: open.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining three Speed Talismans.]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining Misty Steps (Beginner).]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining Wind Affinity. Your sensitivity to surrounding wind has increased. When paired with Misty Steps, effects are even better.]

And...

That's it???

Suifeng's face froze. That's it???

This sh*t dares call itself the Invincible Myth System? Speed talismans, Misty Steps, Wind Affinity?

Just because my name is Suifeng—Follow the Wind—you give me Wind Affinity?

What if my name was Suishi—Follow the Sh*t?

"System, that's really all?"

[That's all. From now on, you'll get a monthly lucky draw. Quests will also be released from time to time!]

Suifeng let out a breath. Fine. At least there'll be more chances later.

"System, did I miss my first draw by not activating the system right after transmigrating?"

[Yes.]

"I've gone years without drawing. Can I stack and draw them all now?"

[Sorry, no.]

"......."

"When's the monthly draw?"

[The last day of every month. Anytime during that day works.]

Suifeng did the math. Almost time. Just twenty-nine days left!!!

Forget it. No rush. Let's check what I've got first.

Misty Steps. Click to learn.

As soon as he did, a figure appeared in his mind—graceful footwork, like a flickering shadow, like an immortal in flight.

Then came the training method and technical breakdown.

It all burned into his brain like a brand...

Wait. Not automatically learned? I can't just use it right away???

I actually have to train daily? This system's starting to look like some dollar-store knockoff.

Whatever. Better than nothing. As long as there's hope for power!

Next, Wind Affinity. Learn!

For a moment, Suifeng's bright eyes gently closed. His soft hair lifted despite no wind. The air itself seemed to slow around him. If you listened closely, it was like the wind was whispering.

But when he tried to listen again—nothing.

After a while, Suifeng opened his eyes slowly.

A faint green light flashed across them.

He raised his arms gently, as if he could feel the rhythm of the wind.

His comprehension of Misty Steps also grew deeper. He could see the path forward more clearly.

...........

The system heaved a silent sigh of relief. No. I can

't let him go off the rails again! I've gotta guide him right.

Head down. Survive to the end. Climb to the peak of this world!!!

Then I'll finally make it... and I won't have to fear deletion anymore.
