Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 James's Story

New York City.

As the sun set, three black vans with the "SSS" logo painted on their bodies and a black Audi A8 following closely behind drove onto the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan and sped towards the Brooklyn area across the bridge.

 SSS!

Sentinel Secret Service!

Sentinel Secret Service.

This is a new federal violent law enforcement agency established after the "Mutant Freedom Act" was announced in 1973.

Under the "Mutant Freedom Act", all cases involving mutants and crimes committed by mutants are under the jurisdiction of the Sentinel Service.

In a word.

The Sentinel Special Service was established specifically to serve mutant talents.

Federal charter, no taboos.

Interior of the black Audi A8.

James, sitting in the back seat with his legs crossed, turned his head to watch the scenery passing by quickly outside the car window, and then looked at his reflection in the glass in a daze.

Short blond hair, green eyes, angular face, and a very decent black suit.

handsome.

And very manly.

but...

It would be fine if I traveled to the world of American comics, but why was I reborn as a foreigner?

Is it to adapt to local customs?

James didn't quite understand at first.

However, after so many years, he has already accepted the fact that he was reborn as a foreigner in this life.

It's just that the time when he traveled through time was neither too fast nor too slow.

Today is August 30th, 2011. James is 25 years old.

It's a pity that he was born at the wrong time.

Because he was born in 1986, he could neither see the glory of Captain America and his Howling Commandos during World War II, nor was he contemporary with the first generation of X-Men.

After all, when he was born, World War II had already ended with the disappearance of Captain America and the retirement of his Howling Commandos.

Even the original X-Men completely disappeared from the public eye after the introduction of the "Mutant Freedom Act" in 1973.

same.

Born in 1986, he was not able to go to the same school as Spider-Man, make friends with the rich second-generation Green Goblin, or talk about his ideals with his first love in American comics, Gwen.

The question is, when I was born you were not yet born, and when you were born I was already old.

If he went to Midtown High School to make friends with Gwen now, it would be a crime.

It's still a federal felony.

and so...

James, who was born at a mediocre age, has had a uneventful but uneventful life in the past 25 years.

If we must find one particularly bright spot in his unremarkable life experience over the past 25 years, it would be that he was admitted to the prestigious Harvard University entirely relying on 98% of his own efforts and 2% of his family's support.

Both of his parents in this life graduated from Harvard, so it makes sense for him to go to Harvard.

If there is something unreasonable, it is that after graduating from Harvard two years ago, he did not go to Washington, D.C. to find his parents, but instead asked an old senior to join the Sentinel Secret Service in New York City.

James has no problem with mutants.

He is neither like some agents who choose to join the Sentinel Service because they are jealous of the mutants' super powers and want to kill them, nor is he like those who choose to join the Sentinel Service because they hate mutants.

The reason why James chose to join the Sentinel Special Service is simply because, at present, the Sentinel Special Service is the only agency that can most easily come into contact with extraordinary people.

Although this is an American comic universe where black technology is everywhere, extraordinary life forms are worse than dogs, and gods roam everywhere.

but...

Many people will never come into contact with these things in their entire lives, and they may not even be qualified to leave their own names in this world until they die.

No matter which world it is, only one percent of the people are brilliant.

For 99% of people, the world only gives them mediocrity, and even suffering!

How do you say that.

In the American comic universe, the rich rely on technology, the poor rely on mutations, and the gods rely on bloodline.

For an ordinary person, in this world that is plagued by disasters once the gears of time start to turn, living to old age is already the greatest fortune.

James thought so at first.

Set a small goal and strive to live to be ninety-nine.

no way.

It's his fault that he didn't die when he traveled through time.

At first, James was still feeling a little bit of hope, thinking that when he reached puberty, he might be able to awaken the X gene and mutate into a mutant.

As he said before, he has no problem with mutants.

Unfortunately, he didn't mutate until he went to college.

From then on, James knew that there was only one way left for him.

That is to go to school safely, graduate, find a wife, then save some money, go to some remote Country, and strive to live to the day of old age.

After all, in the American comic universe, perhaps only far remote area, like East Country, in his previous life, can barely be called the last pure land.

As for the idea of being the protagonist in this American comic universe?

Absolutely not.

First, he has no system, second, he has no mutations, and third, he is not a rich man, so he is not a good enough protagonist.

Eat when you should, drink when you should, live to old age, and this life will be worth it.

save the world?

Maintaining world peace is not something an ordinary person like him should worry about. Anyway, if the sky falls and someone dies, he won't be the only one to die.

If you are not in your position, you will not seek your government.

result!

Just on the eve of graduation when he had already made plans to go to the East Country, the standard plug-in that a time traveler should have finally arrived.

James still remembers the day when he woke up from a hangover at the prom and had a splitting headache when the system prompt sounded in his mind.

Thinking about it now, that voice still sounds like the sound of nature.

James spent a whole morning figuring out the functions of the plug-in and how to maximize its effectiveness. Then he immediately tore up the plan on how to lie low after Run went to the East Country, and resolutely joined the Sentinel Special Service.

No time traveler would really like to lie down and give up after traveling to the American comic universe.

James is no exception.

There are good and bad reputations.

The past was before and the present is now.

In the past, he chose to lie down and accept his fate because he could see his future at a glance.

but...

Compared to a mediocre future, James prefers a future full of unknowns and infinite possibilities.

After all, even if it is a salted fish, it will not only expose one side to the sun from head to tail. It will definitely think about turning over and exposing the back side to the sun.

The arrival of the system two years ago made James feel that it was his turn to turn things around.

The scenery outside the car window passed by quickly, pulling James back to his thoughts.

James came back to his senses and had an idea.

next second.

A system interface that was so simple that it looked crudely made appeared in a sight that only he could see.

The system is called—— "Become a God" ... (End of this chapter)
