Chapter 2 - Awakening

2 days later...

In the middle of the cave, Damian lay transformed, different from before. His skin was darker, his hair was long, reaching down to his waist. His hands had short black claws, four fangs, and long, pointed ears.

Looking down at his body, Damian could not help but be confused by the changes. It was then that he realized he could see much better in the dark. Not like his eyes had adjusted, but as if he was meant to see in the dark. It wasn't only that, but his sense of hearing, smell, and physical strength had increased significantly.

"...This food, if you could even call it that...what did it do to me?" Damian said, looking at the few scraps of food left

Slowly, he stood up and began looking around the room. As he did, a sudden voice rang out in his head as a pitch black screen with white letters appeared before him.

"Woah, what is happening? Miasma poisoning? Spire, what does this all mean?" Damian asked, more confused than ever

As those notifications rang out, Damian's head was filled with a cluster of new information. Information that made his previous question disappear.

As the torrent of information stopped, Damian held his head as his head began to pound. Taking a moment to calm himself and process all of the information, he sat back down.

"So I already know I died and how I'm in Purgatory. The land that angels and demons fear...And this miasma poisoning comes as quite a surprise. I should have guessed from my first encounters, but most, if not all, creatures have a dick...and they can only release miasma from it like cum...what the fuck kind of world did I come to?" Damian sighed.

"But it's not all too bad, there is magic in this world from what I learned... but it seems like not everything can use it. Well, that won't matter; it seems I was given a system so that I won't die. It calls me the Spire, but it did not elaborate on it.

"System, can you show me my stats?" Damian said

"Hmmm, this magic is quite weird... Was it the food that gave me this...Not only did it change my race, but I was also given magic to match.

"Well, I might as well test this out and get used to it if I ever want to escape," Damian said, closing his eyes.

Using the little knowledge he was given about magic, Damian focused intensely within himself. Feeling each heartbeat, the blood rushing through his veins, his muscles relaxing, and his lungs expanding and contracting.

Falling deeper and deeper within, he felt something new, something strange. It felt warm yet cooling at the same time, like a perfect sunny and windy day. Focusing on that feeling, Damian found himself standing in the middle of a black space with a giant floating blue orb before him.

Watching the orb, he saw it pulsing and glowing like a beating heart. Walking up to it, he placed his hand on the orb. Immediately, he felt something connect with the orb, as if it had become a part of him.

Pushing deeper into the orb, it glowed vibrantly before popping, releasing a wave of what seemed to be water that transformed the black space into a vast, endless ocean.

Opening his eyes, Damian saw the world in a different light, with blue strands filling the air and surrounding his body. Reaching out his hand, he felt the connection again with the blue strands, pulling them in, all of it entering his body, reviving him.

[Host has unlocked Mana Control]

With this new knowledge and a sense of calm that overcame him, Damian placed his hand before him, and a fire that danced a dark blue in his hand appeared. Touching the ground with the flame, he watched as it began to freeze the ground at a fast rate.

Stopping the flame, Damian stood up and began walking towards the cave tunnel, but as he did, three figures rushed inside. The one from yesterday that gave him the food and two other similar ones, but unlike the first, these two both had repeater rifles in their hands, pointed at me.

Once the two met each other, the three 'women' did not move until the first spoke.

"Was that you that released all of the energy?" she spoke, pointing her blade at Damian.

"...I...I don't know," Damian replied, playing dumb.

"You two tie it up and bring it. I will have the shaman examine it," the woman said

Walking forward, they pointed their guns at Damian's chest and ordered him not to move. As one of them moved to tie up Damian with a crude rope, he closed his eyes and focused on that energy from before.

This time, instead of having it go to his hand, he used his whole body as the target. As the energy left his body, a wave of freezing fire filled the room, and the two women were frozen in a block of ice. The third one was able to back away in time, but still suffered frostbite on their arms.

Not wasting this chance, Damian touched the ground and felt as if he had become the ground itself. With a single motion, he commanded the ground to shift, rising and trapping the last woman in a wall of stone that went to her neck.

"Now I think it's time I get to talk," Damian said with a grin as he stood up and walked over to the struggling woman.
