The knock came again.
This time, I willed myself to take a few more steps forward and closer to the door, even though my heart was thudding in my chest.
Was he back?
It could be him. The scarred Alpha who had just caught me listening in on his conversation. Maybe he came back to make sure I didn't get a chance to tell anyone else about what I had heard.
My fingers hovered over the handle of the door as a third knock pounded over the door again and I looked at the source as if it could explode open at any moment.
I took a final shaky breath and wrapped my hand around the cold handle and pushed it down, letting the door fly open.
Darek stood in front of it, barefoot and shirtless. The dim lights of the corridor slid across the lines of his shoulder and chest tracing every cut of his muscles. His hair was tousled, but not in an intentionally done kind of way, but like he got up out of bed looking like that kind of way.
