Chapter 43 - Citadel of Dreams: Within the Enchanted Halls of the Royal Capital (Part 2)

The denizens dwelling in the shadows are labeled as the 'Eccentrics,' people burdened by the absence of magic, rendering them as societal outcasts within this kingdom. Regrettably, they are perceived as mere leeches, extracting resources from the 'Magiphores' people, individuals blessed with mana and the mystical prowess it bestows.

The term "Eccentrics" is a blend of "essence" and "eccentrics." It refers to individuals who lack magical abilities and are situated on the outskirts of society due to this absence. The word is derived from the concept that these individuals have an essential part to play in the world despite their non-magical nature, and they might possess unique qualities that set them apart, making them somewhat eccentric in the eyes of others.

On the other hand, "Magiphores" is a fusion of "magic" and "pores." It symbolizes individuals who are naturally attuned to magic, possessing mana that flows through them like a life force. They have the ability to tap into magical energies and perform arcane feats. The term "Magiphores" implies that these individuals serve as a conduit for magic, unknowingly providing support and sustenance to the Eccentrics in the same way that pores absorb nutrients and sustenance.

"Sighed. But why are you targeting me? It is better to find the adult one. They bring a lot of money with them." I point out my concern.

They told me that adults are scary and they already tried and did not succeed. They were too scared to get beaten up and if they are caught, they will get locked up in the prison.

They give me a point. Maybe I should help them. "Fine, give that to me and I will give you money if you want."

"So you have… money? You should have given it to us in the first place." Mara infuriated. Suddenly, all of them checked all over my body and couldn't find anything. I was amused when their hand tickles me.

I tried to catch my breath. "Of course I also don't have money." Because I still haven't changed the stone yet with the gold bar using my magic.

"So you are broke just like us?" Ava tells with disappointment.

"Well, you can say that." I told them. They all suddenly started to argue.

"I told you he is not loaded. That's why he doesn't have any guard with him." Elias pulled Jasper's collar.

"But look at his clothes. Are you a thief too? Where did you get this if you are not rich" Jasper tries to convince them.

"Technically, this is not mine…" They all seem disappointed and think I am a thief just like them.

"Tch. We failed again. We pick the wrong person again. Sighed. I should have chosen that rich girl." Mara sighed in disappointment.

They were dumbfounded and felt hopeless when I told them I am not rich.

"But why don't you guys help me and I will pay you money." I ask for their help.

All the 4 of them looked at me and did not believe me.

"Fine. You can bring me to any trader that you know if you are kind."

Surprisingly, they helped me to find a trader in the market. I thought it would be that hard.

I was standing in front of the Treasures Shop. The name sounds right.

But I was wondering why they are helping me. Later, they only said because I'm one of them and they need to help each other. I believe they are not a bad kid after all.
