The Sea Bridge shook with every pulse from below. Cracks split its surface, black mist rising from the fissures. The Phoenix Legion and the Zhenlong Army were already airborne, their ships and wings filling the skies above the bridge.
But Haotian did not move to flee.
He turned sharply, his hands sweeping into a seal. "Activate!"
At once, the Chi Gathering Nodes across the bridge flared, nine suns igniting in perfect sequence. Their energy flowed like rivers of molten gold, surging into the Amplifier Arrays that now replaced the shields and veils. The amplifiers whined, compressing the energy tighter, denser, until each beam shone like a pillar of condensed starlight.
That condensed torrent split in two.
One stream surged into the Binding Arrays. With a deep boom, runic pillars flared to life, their tips firing chains of radiant spears that pierced the air. They lashed outward like living serpents, coiling, binding, waiting to ensnare whatever enemy would dare rise from the Abyss.
The other torrent rushed into the Main Killing Array. The 99 dragons and 99 phoenixes dissolved into light, their forms unraveling as their essence was consumed. Fire and frost, roars and cries, wings and scales all collapsed inward, merging into a single point of unbearable radiance.
The bridge blazed white.
From that point, a weapon took form.
A spear, colossal and awe-inspiring, floated above the Sea Bridge. Its tip shimmered with condensed destruction, a weapon not meant for battle, but for judgment. Energy bled from its surface, burning fissures into the bridge, making the air quake as if the heavens themselves strained to hold it.
The array pulsed once—twice—before settling into readiness. The entire structure of the Sea Bridge hummed with restrained power, waiting only for its target to be bound.
Haotian stood at its heart, his breath steady, his golden eyes sharp. "Ready."
Deep below, the Three Emperors clashed with the Demon Emperor.
The abyss was a storm of shadow, split by the radiance of their combined might. Emperor Qianye's fists burned like suns, every strike cracking bone and tearing abyssal flesh. Empress Yuelian's arrays wrapped the Demon Emperor in nets of violet light, compressing its movements and tearing away chunks of its armor. Emperor Xuanming's blade carved silver arcs, severing horns and splitting dark tendrils into ash.
Their strikes hit with divine weight. Every blow left the Demon Emperor's form reeling, bleeding black flame, its throne of spires crumbling under the pressure.
And still—it laughed.
The Demon Emperor's voice echoed like a thousand bells tolling the end of worlds. "Yes… strike me, burn me, tear me apart. Feel your triumph while you still breathe. I will not fall to three suns. You will break, as all lights break, before the Abyss."
It surged upward, its claws slamming down. The Abyss roared with it, the very fabric of the world quaking. The Emperors pressed harder, but the laughter only grew louder, deeper, filling the pit until even the strongest hearts trembled.
Above, the Sea Bridge quaked again, the tremors now violent, shaking loose stones into the endless dark.
And at its heart, Haotian stood, the colossal spear of the new Killing Array glowing above him like a star waiting to fall.
Deep in the Abyss, the battle raged like a storm. The Three Emperors fought with brilliance and fury—Qianye's fists burned like meteors, Xuanming's blade split space itself, and Yuelian's arrays bound the void in choking seals. The Demon Emperor's massive form reeled under their blows, its body torn, black ichor spilling into the abyssal winds.
And yet—it laughed.
The sound was deafening, like mountains shattering.
"Hahaha! Yes… splendid! Three suns burning together! I can feel it—your strikes are strong enough to kill me. Strong enough… to break the vow!"
Xuanming's eyes sharpened, his blade cutting deeper. "What vow?"
The Demon Emperor's laughter shook the Abyss. "The vow I swore to him! To Alter! That I would remain chained, that I would not leave this pit unless two conditions were met—an invasion to consume the surface… or the threat of my life itself."
Chains of ancient law shimmered faintly across its body, but now—they cracked. Shards of divine bindings fell away like glass.
With every strike the Emperors landed, another chain shattered.
The Demon Emperor's roar grew louder, madder. "And now—the condition is fulfilled! My life is threatened! The vow is broken! I am free!"
Its massive body surged upward. Instead of pressing the battle, it turned and ran, its colossal strides shattering the Abyss itself.
"Stop it!" Qianye bellowed, launching after it, his fists hurling blazing comets.
Yuelian's arrays shot forward, lotus seals exploding against its back.
Xuanming's blade of silver light cleaved down, carving into its shoulders.
But the Demon Emperor did not falter. It roared and laughed, its body a blur of shadow racing toward the surface.
I must see him again… I must see that human! Alter! When I take his body, the heavens will be mine!
Above, the Sea Bridge shook violently. The tremors were no longer random, no longer the chaotic pulse of battle below. They came steady, rhythmic—like the pounding of footsteps.
Haotian's eyes narrowed, his breath tightening in his chest. These are not tremors of fighting… they are the steps of something running. And they're getting worse.
The bridge cracked further, stones collapsing into the sea. Soldiers aboard the Zhenlong ships gasped, staring at the glowing fissures spreading across the bridge.
Haotian turned, his seals flashing. The new Killing Array flared back to life, its nodes burning, its amplifiers whining as they compressed chi into unbearable density. The restraining arrays rattled, chains of light writhing like serpents in anticipation. Above the bridge, the colossal Spear of Destruction blazed, humming with stored fury.
Then—
The Abyss split open.
A colossal hand of black flame tore through the fissure, grasping the edge of the Sea Bridge. With a thunderous pull, the Demon Emperor emerged. Its body was torn, its flesh cracked and burning, but its eyes blazed with crimson hunger.
It rose from the pit like the dawn of ruin.
The battlefield froze. Phoenix Legion soldiers, Zhenlong captains, western Saints—all of them stared in horror.
It was as if time had turned back to that fateful day less than a year ago, when Haotian had stood alone on the Sea Bridge against an endless tide.
The Demon Emperor's gaze swept across the bridge. Its crimson eyes locked onto Haotian, and its lips pulled into a grin jagged as blades.
"Ahhh… there you are."
It inhaled, its aura shaking the heavens. "I knew you would be here."
And then—it charged.
The ground split under its stride, the Sea Bridge screaming as it lurched forward.
Above, soldiers cried out in terror. The sisters clutched their weapons, their faces pale. Lianhua's fists clenched, her breath catching as her son's father now stood before the impossible once again.
Haotian's aura flared golden, the spear above the bridge blazing brighter, ready to strike. His fists clenched, his stance steady, his eyes cold.
"Come, then."
From the Abyss below, three streaks of light shot upward. The Three Emperors burst from the darkness, their auras blazing like suns, their eyes widening as they saw the scene unfold.
The Demon Emperor, free and charging.Haotian, standing at the heart of the Sea Bridge. The fate of the world balanced in a single heartbeat.
The Sea Bridge thundered under the weight of the Demon Emperor's charge. Its monstrous form surged forward, crimson eyes locked on Haotian with hunger and malice. The abyss below roared in resonance, storms rising with every step it took.
Haotian did not flinch.
His hands pressed into the seals, his voice cutting across the battlefield like thunder. "Activate!"
The bridge lit up as the Binding Arrays erupted.
BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!
Spears of radiant chains burst from the ground, streaking upward like divine serpents. They slammed into the Demon Emperor's body, piercing its limbs, its torso, its shoulders. Each impact exploded with force, punching holes through abyssal flesh and anchoring into the bridge. Chains stretched taut, glowing as they ran through its massive form and sank deep into the stone.
The grotesque sight sent shudders across the watching armies. Disciples covered their mouths, Saints turned pale, even the hardened Zhenlong captains grimaced. Blood gushed like rivers, hissing as it burned against the chains.
But the Demon Emperor roared, its muscles bulging as it strained forward. The ground cracked beneath its steps, every chain rattling as it dragged against its bindings. Even impaled, even anchored, it fought with unholy strength, lurching step by step toward Haotian.
Haotian's golden eyes narrowed. His lips curved into a sharp, cold smile.
"Now."
The Main Killing Array blazed.
Above the bridge, the dragons and phoenixes of light merged fully, collapsing into the form of a colossal spear. Its body was radiant, its tip condensed into a star of destruction, humming with such force that even the ships overhead trembled. The air warped around it, stone beneath it cracked and melted.
The spear quivered once, then launched.
WHOOM!
It tore through the air faster than thought, a streak of judgment, a lance of heaven's fury.
The Demon Emperor roared, abyssal qi surging from its chest. A Nether Beam of pure corruption fired from its maw, colliding head-on with the descending spear. The clash ripped the air apart, lightning and flame exploding in every direction, shockwaves slamming into ships and soldiers.
For an instant, the two forces battled, light against shadow, neither yielding.
Then the spear pressed through.
The nether beam shattered, fragments of darkness scattering like torn cloth. The colossal spear slammed directly into the Demon Emperor's chest.
BOOOOOOM!
The explosion shook the heavens. The shockwave ripped outward, sending ships swaying, soldiers tumbling, mountains along the coast splitting. The Sea Bridge cracked from end to end, its pillars snapping, entire sections collapsing into the abyss below.
The world went white.
When the light faded, smoke and dust veiled the bridge. The silence was unbearable, the air thick with fear and expectation.
Slowly, shapes emerged.
The Demon Emperor still stood.
Its body was riddled with chains, the colossal spear embedded through its torso, abyssal ichor spilling from its mouth. Its movements were slow, trembling, its eyes dimming.
For a moment, hope surged.
It lifted its head, its crimson gaze falling on Haotian. Its lips curled into a jagged grin. And it laughed—wet, broken, gurgling with green blood, but laughter all the same.
It raised both arms, stretching them toward Haotian as if to grasp him.
Then it froze.
Its eyes flickered once, then dulled. Its body locked in place, shuddering before going still.
The battlefield erupted with cries of relief. The Phoenix Legion cheered, Zhenlong soldiers shouted, Saints dropped to their knees in exhaustion. At last, the impossible seemed won.
But Haotian's eyes did not soften. His heart pounded, his instincts screaming.
His face twisted, his voice cracking across the bridge in a sudden shout.
"NO—!"
The sound cut through the cheers like a blade.
And in that moment, every soul knew—the battle was not yet over.
The cheers had only just begun when Haotian's body convulsed.
His aura erupted outward, no longer golden, no longer radiant with sovereign calm—but dark, murderous, saturated with bloodlust. Killing intent rolled off him in waves, so thick it pressed against the chest of every soldier present. The air grew heavy, the sky turned red, and the stench of slaughter drowned out the sea breeze.
Haotian staggered, gritting his teeth, his hands clawing at his chest as though something inside him clawed back. His growl deepened into a guttural grunt, the sound of a beast barely caged.
"Commander…?" a Phoenix disciple whispered.
The sects' Saints and Sovereigns shifted uneasily, gripping their weapons as dread slithered up their spines.
Then Haotian screamed.
"EVERYONE RUN!"
The words cracked across the battlefield like thunder. His voice was jagged, torn with agony. "It's inside of me… it's—" His roar broke off as he dropped to his knees, his body shaking violently. "It's… ARRGHHH!"
The Three Emperors surged forward, their auras blazing. But before they could reach him, a wave of wrath exploded outward from Haotian's body, hurling them back across the bridge. Stone shattered beneath their feet as they steadied themselves, disbelief flashing in their eyes.
"Impossible…" Xuanming muttered.
The five sisters rushed toward him, their faces pale, tears already brimming in their eyes. Yinxue cried out, "Haotian! Fight it!"
Ziyue's lips trembled. "What should we do? What do we do?!"
Shuyue's hands shook, torn between rushing in and obeying his last order.
Yueru bit her lip so hard blood ran down her chin, her eyes wide with fear.
And Lianhua stood rooted, her fists clenched, her heart splitting apart as she watched the man she had loved since childhood twist in agony before her eyes.
Then came the laugh.
Low. Cruel. Ancient.
It rolled out of Haotian's mouth, but it was not his voice.
"Incredible…" The words echoed like thunder. "Such a perfect vessel!"
The slaughter aura exploded skyward, blotting out the sun. The shockwave hurled men and women across the ships, cracking masts, rattling formations.
When the smoke cleared, Haotian stood. His body was wreathed in writhing flames of green light, glowing tattoos seared across his flesh like living brands. His Eyes of the Universe burned still, but no longer calm—they swirled with madness, their gaze cutting through flesh, soul, and heaven alike.
"Ahhh," the voice purred through his lips. "So incredible. The Ten Elemental Physiques… and the Dao of the Universe… all under my hands now."
Gasps filled the air. One of the sect Sovereigns from the Western Fleet stumbled back, his face pale. "The Ten Elemental Physiques… and the Dao of the Universe… in one body? That's… that's impossible!"
Another Saint shouted in horror. "To control both? No one should be able to harmonize that much power!"
The Demon Emperor's laughter shook the heavens. "Yes… and where he clung to the virtuous, I will unleash the other side. Let the world taste the true spectrum of Dao!"
Haotian's aura twisted again. From his body erupted currents of darkness: the Dao of Killing, the Dao of Slaughter, the Seven Evil Desires, the Dao of Lust, the Dao of Death, and other negative laws long thought impossible to harmonize. Together, they howled like a storm of corruption.
The very soldiers who had cheered a moment ago staggered back, horror in their eyes.
Empress Yuelian's face hardened, but her cheeks flushed with fury as Haotian's corrupted gaze turned on her. His eyes trailed her form, his lips curling into a feral grin. He licked his lips slowly.
"Mmm. Such a beautiful Empress," he murmured darkly. "I wonder… how you would taste."
Yuelian's aura flared in outrage, her voice a whip. "You dare! To speak such vulgarity to me—!"
Emperor Qianye's fists blazed. "He mocks us through Haotian's mouth. We must strike him down."
Emperor Xuanming closed his eyes for a brief moment, exhaling heavily. His voice was grim, resolute. "There is no other choice. We attack."
Haotian—no, the Demon Emperor—laughed, the sound cruel and wild. His eyes gleamed as he raised his hand.
"Attack me?"
His body blurred, teleporting instantly.
Xuanming's eyes widened as Haotian appeared beside him, his grin jagged, his words finishing in a whisper.
"Not a chance."
BOOM!
His claw struck the ground, stone exploding upward, the bridge quaking under the force. Xuanming barely evaded, his robes torn, his expression grim.
But Haotian was already moving, lunging again, the hunt for the Emperors begun.
The true battle for Haotian's body had begun.
The Sea Bridge burned with chaotic light. The Three Emperors struck in unison, their combined might shaking the heavens. Qianye's fists crashed down like suns, Xuanming's blade split the storm in arcs of silver, and Yuelian's arrays spiraled like lotus seals. Each attack should have shattered mountains—yet against Haotian, they faltered.
His Eyes of the Universe gleamed with cruel clarity. Every weakness, every hesitation, every flaw in their techniques was laid bare to him. His movements were precise, surgical, weaving through their strikes as though he had trained against them his entire life.
Their blows were negated. Their power deflected. And for the first time in centuries, the Emperors were being pushed back.
Qianye's arm trembled, blood spraying from his knuckles as Haotian's counterstrike slammed into him. Xuanming staggered, his silver crown cracked, his blade chipped from repeated clashes. Yuelian spun, weaving seals frantically to hold her ground—when suddenly, Haotian's form blurred.
He slipped through her defense with effortless grace.
Before she could react, his hand brushed across her waist, trailing upward in a slow, mocking caress. Her body froze, shock and fury colliding in her chest.
His lips lowered to her ear. His voice was a husky whisper.
"Such ferocity… tell me, are you the same in bed?"
Yuelian's cheeks flamed red. She gasped, then snarled in rage. "Scoundrel!"
Her palm lashed out, a lotus seal detonating against his chest. But Haotian only slid back with a grin, laughing cruelly as he turned away, engaging Qianye and Xuanming once more.
Above, the ships shuddered with outrage—not from the soldiers, but from the five sisters.
Yinxue's eyes blazed with fury. Ziyue's lips curled into a snarl. Shuyue stomped her foot so hard the deck cracked. Yueru's breath came sharp and shallow, her rage trembling. Lianhua's face twisted with betrayal, her voice rising like thunder.
"You dare? To use his body to lust after someone else—while we are here?!"
The Phoenix Legion froze in shock, every disciple paling.
Then Lianhua stepped forward, her fists clenched, her voice booming across the battlefield.
"Haotian! If you keep this up—our marriage is OVER!"
Below, Haotian's body halted mid-strike. His claw hovered inches from Xuanming's chest. His eyes flickered, his body trembling, his movements faltering as though chains had locked him in place.
Xuanming seized the moment. "Now!" His fist hammered forward, striking Haotian squarely in the chest. The blow sent him flying back, crashing into the fractured stones.
But he rose again, green tattoos blazing, his laughter still echoing. He lunged toward Qianye—only for another voice to pierce the air.
"Haotian!" Yinxue screamed, her face red with rage. "If you don't drive that demon out of your body—I'll never let you touch me again!"
Haotian froze. His entire body stiffened, aura crackling violently. His eyes bulged, struggling to move.
Qianye's strike crashed into him, sending him tumbling.
The soldiers gawked in disbelief. "W-what… what's happening…?"
Haotian staggered upright, his aura unstable, his mind torn. He roared at the ships above. "You… you dare threaten me, you bitches?! Keep your mouths—"
BAM!
A strike from behind hurled him forward, Xuanming's blade slicing across his back.
Before he could recover, Ziyue leapt onto the railing, cupping her hands around her mouth and screaming with venom.
"And if you keep this up—I'll never meet you again at our secret place!"
Haotian's eyes snapped wide. "Z-Ziyue?! You don't mean that!"
BOOM!
Qianye's fist smashed into him, driving him into the ground.
The Emperors stared in disbelief, realizing the impossible—his lovers' threats were piercing through the Demon Emperor's control.
The sisters caught on instantly, their eyes flashing.
Shuyue shouted, "Haotian! If you lose yourself now, I won't be your woman ever again!"
Yueru yelled, tears streaking her cheeks, "And I'll never let you hold me like you did last night!"
Every word tore deeper into him. His aura flickered, the green tattoos trembling, the Demon Emperor's control unraveling.
Haotian's screams turned guttural, desperate. His fists clawed the air as his body convulsed.
The soldiers around the ships stared in shock, their jaws slack. "T-This… this is how they're breaking the Demon Emperor's hold…? By threatening intimacy?!"
Even the Emperors faltered, stunned by the absurdity of it.
But it was working.
The sisters took turns, their voices fierce, their threats sharper than blades. With each vow, Haotian's body froze, the Demon Emperor's aura cracking, his control slipping.
Until at last, the possessed Haotian raised his head, his voice torn between two wills. His body shook violently, aura exploding outward.
"ENOUGH!" the Demon Emperor roared through him, voice shaking heaven and earth.
The Sea Bridge quaked. The air itself split. The battle for Haotian's soul reached its breaking point.
