Liam worked very hard. His eyes were glued to the bright computer screen. He looked at every single paper and file about all the different people who had worked at our company. It was like he was a detective, searching for a tiny piece of a puzzle. He looked at every special card that people used to open doors in the building. He was trying his very best to find out about the temporary worker, that sneaky person who helped trick me and Damian. Liam wanted to know everything about them.
The mystery of the "temporary worker" was a really big puzzle, the trickiest part of all. This person could get into our building easily, maybe with a special pass or because someone let them in. Did Bianca send them months and months ago, hiding them like a secret agent? Or was it someone who already worked for me, someone who was unhappy with their job, or maybe even a spy for Bianca, telling her all our secrets? The idea made me feel cold all over and scared again, like a shiver running down my back. It was a very, very scary thought, knowing someone inside could be helping her.
Liam started his big, detailed search. First, he looked at the visitor logs. These are like big books or computer files that show everyone who came into the building and when. He checked if any temporary worker's name showed up on the same days that strange things happened with our computers. He looked at the times people used their special cards to get into different rooms, especially the computer room. Every little detail was important.
He found one name that popped up a few times: "Sam," a temporary IT helper. Sam had worked for us for only two weeks about three months ago. His papers said he was a very good computer helper. But when Liam looked closer, he saw something strange. The picture on Sam's file was a bit blurry, and the contact number was wrong! It was an old number that didn't work anymore. This made Liam's eyebrows go up.
"Ms. Hilly," Liam called out, his voice sharper now. "I think I found something interesting about one of the temporary workers."
I rushed over to his desk. "What is it, Liam?"
"This person, Sam," Liam said, pointing to the screen. "His file looks okay at first, but the picture is not clear, and his phone number is wrong. Plus, his card let him into the IT server room more times than he really needed to for his short job. That's unusual."
My heart started to beat faster. Could this "Sam" be the person we were looking for? The one who was in the computer room in the video? The pieces of the puzzle were slowly starting to fit together, but there were still so many missing. We had found a clue, but we still needed to find out who Sam really was, and who put him there.
This was just the very beginning of a long journey. We had to keep searching, no matter what it takes. We had to find all the answers and bring everything out into the light
