Kalen looked over at Lucia, she was sleeping calmly, undisturbed, even by his recent noisey activities. He looked over at his digital clock and the time read, 11:17.
He fell into the embrace of his chair contemplating his current state. " That is the time I dozed off, I have to get out of here, he would be here by one. " " Who's going to be here by one." A voice got his attention.
" Our doom," Kalen rose and took a shirt, " Get dressed, move, our lives depend on it." " Wait, why am I in your room." Lucia said rising to a sitting position.
She held her head in pain, Kalen reached for a cabinet and took some painkillers. With a glass of water, he handed it to Lucia.
" You passed out and I had to take you to my room, can you walk." Kalen said. " I think I can." She replied, " Excellent, Did I remember to announce our lives being in danger." He said nervously.
" Why?" She asked but he remained silent, then turned to her, " Can't I stay in your room?" She added.
" Answer the question Kally, why wouldn't you speak?"
" *Sigh*, I didn't stutter the first time Lucy, you are in danger, I am in a bigger danger. All because of the stupid decisions, I've made and I am ready to stick with the consequences. " He briefed.
" Now hurry up let me drop you at your room, Don't worry I would explain when I have the power to. " He said concluding his dress up with tied black bandana around the lower half of his face.
He walked out of the room and patiently waited for her to prepare herself. There wasn't much for her to do, so they were soon walking on the empty campus devoid of living existence.
For a place always riddled with noisey and violent activities, the silence bore too deep to be real. Lucia clinged to Kalen's arm so tightly, this made his face a bit red due to how close they were.
Understanding she was extremely scared, he let her be even though he nearly got a boner. Under the bellowing winds they walked away from the male hostel and headed to the female hostel, which was across the learning facility.
They arrived at Lucia's room twenty minutes later. Kalen stood in awe for a few moments. Her room was filled with posters of girls in dark boyish clothing.
She had a shelf filled with a collection of mangas and anime. Even a Funstation consoles, Kalen choked on air. " Are you going to stand there little a thirty frog or are you going to come in." Lucia said with a giggle.
Loosened up Kalen closed the door behind him and went to sit besides her. " I don't feel like sleeping anymore." She said cracking her fingers nervously.
" And I feel scared Kalen, ever since I have known you, you've always been like an older brother to me. Yet I don't want you worrying and stressing yourself over me." She heaved.
Smiling slightly, she looked into his eyes, " What ever is my fate is, I would accept it." Kalen facepalmed himself, " Would you ever be quiet, I wouldn't let you accept whatever you don't want to."
It was then Kalen noticed there wasn't a gap between them, nevertheless it was too late she lowered her head and leant on his shoulder.
" I just want to live a normal life." She said quietly, he didn't respond. ' Some would have to give up their normal lives so yours would be.'
Silent moments passed with both submerged in there thoughts. Then she implied, " How about you play Fallen Transient with me."
" Impossible, you have the ultra rare Fallen Transient? " He asked with a bewildered expression. She nodded in response. " Why not. " He said smiling at her cute demeanor.
Lucia got off his body and began booting her gaming television with a console. She handed him a pad and they began gaming.
Surprisedly she racked up more points than he did and won by a considerable margin. As she laughed and gloated her victory, Jalen felt his heart clench with fear.
He looked out the window, the howl of the wind clashing violently against the glass. Lightning flashed, thunder boomed and the persistent fear lingered in Kalen's heart.
They played more games, but still something kept bugging him. After completing half an entire playthrough, Kalen looked at the clock and the time read, 01:01.
Then the rattling of lightning shook his bones without touching him. " What?" Lucia asked with a perplexed expression.
He quietly looked around for a moment then said, " I will step out for a moment." " Under the rain? It's raining cats and dogs, and you want to go outside?"
Kalen lowered the pad and rose, " Once am out, wait for a few minutes and silently run to a friend's room. Spend the rest of the night there." The last words as clear as a funeral gong.
An intuition predicted something, it warned him. Walking out towards the door his mind became a metaphysical warzone.
' You'll die the moment you step out that door. '
' Yes, it's better than hiding here and letting Lucia die with you. Even if you die you will resurrect.'
' Putting hope on that would be stupidity, you might have being enhanced to a superhuman level; but think this through, your still weak. '
' Either way we die, but we can always protect an extra live. '
' One which would only live two days before getting executed by the Falcons. '
It was then Kalen realized he had been standing at the door for too long. He looked back at Lucia who wore an expression of pure fear and confusion merged together.
Slowly he looked away and opened the door. Immediately a strong gale crashed into him, accompanied by drops of rain falling so hard it was as painfull as being stoned.
The door closed behind him leaving him to walk closer to the floor's railings. It was dark, there was a stronger brownout which surprisingly hadn't affected Lucia's room.
The lamppost buzzed with little to no light leaving the entire courtyard dark. Holding onto the railings, he observed closely.
Another strong wind crashed into him, however at that point, lightning flashed revealed a subtle silhouette he couldn't see.
His brows furrowed as he looked closer. Lightning flashed again and he clearly saw a masculine figure, casually standing at the gate of the female hostel.
It wore a hoody jacket and a jean, its hands deep inside the jacket's pockets. " We finally meet Obiora!!!" He said in a voice which was eerily directed into his ears.
' A weak form of telepathy. ' That had to be the only way as the distance was logically impossible, coupled with the heavy rain, this was outrightly supernatural.
' An enhanced. '
Lightning struck the earth and he saw the figure move forward. " Come down Kalen, " it said through the same medium, " Let us talk."
His head shuddered uncomfortably as a holographic panel warped into reality.
