Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Bound to Luo Feng and Awakening as a Psyker

Ding… ding… ding…

The chime of the end-of-class bell echoed across the campus. Almost instantly, the classroom buzzed with conversation as students stood and stretched.

"Wake up, Wei Wen. Class is over," Luo Feng said, nudging his deskmate with a grin.

Wei Wen stirred, bleary-eyed. "Already? That was fast." He yawned, stretching lazily. "Let's go."

He still found it surreal.

He'd transmigrated into the world of Swallowed Star and become Wei Wen, Luo Feng's best friend.

He'd once worked his ass off—more than ten years of struggle back in his old life. The result? Mediocrity. He had no outstanding talent, no golden opportunity. Eventually, he just gave up, embraced the idea of doing the bare minimum.

Now, stuck in a universe where the strong ruled and monsters roamed, his plan was simple: stay close to the future legend, Luo Feng, and coast through life. Let the chosen one shine; he'd be the loyal friend tagging along for the ride.

Then the system activated.

"Congratulations, Host. After six years of consistent inactivity, you've successfully awakened the Lie-Flat System."

Wei Wen froze.

Six years? He clenched his fist, teeth gritted. "Damn. If I'd known laziness was the key, I'd have stopped trying a decade ago."

But really, it tracked. In this life, he'd tried everything to cultivate—and gotten nowhere. Lying flat wasn't just a choice. It was destiny.

But now? With the Lie-Flat System?

He was back in the game.

Lie-Flat System ActivatedBindable Target: 1Rule: Bind to a friend. For every increase in your bound friend's strength, you gain proportional rewards—without lifting a finger.

No grind. No battles. No backbreaking training. Just sit back and collect power as Luo Feng advanced.

This was it. A god-tier passive.

"You have selected: Luo Feng. Beginning Lie-Flat feedback…"

Wei Wen stared at his friend, wide-eyed and quietly ecstatic.

"Luo Feng," he whispered under his breath, "you're gonna carry me to greatness."

Cultivation? No chance. He'd already wasted 12 years proving he was terrible at it. But now? He'd grow stronger just by being nearby.

The next few days flew by.

Wei Wen's life turned into a daily stream of pleasant surprises:

"Your friend Luo Feng is studying diligently. Your knowledge has increased.""Your friend Luo Feng earned 100 yuan from tutoring. You've received 200 yuan in passive income.""Your friend Luo Feng is practicing movement techniques. Your movement comprehension is improving.""Your friend Luo Feng is training with the blade. Your saber technique comprehension is increasing.""Your friend Luo Feng is strength training. Your physical stats are improving."

It was like being handed cheat codes.

Sure, the upgrades were small for now—but they were constant. And they required zero effort.

What really got to him, though, was how different it felt. These weren't rewards earned by blood, sweat, and tears. This was passive power. And Wei Wen loved every second of it.

June 7 — College Entrance Examination Day

According to the national exam schedule, students from their school, Third High, were assigned to First High School for the Gaokao.

Wei Wen showed up alongside Luo Feng—not because he cared about his test scores, but because something big was about to happen.

This was the day Luo Feng would awaken as a Psyker.

And when he did, I get the rewards too.

He glanced at Luo Feng with a weird expression.

He knew what was coming. Luo Feng had no idea.

"You should be worrying about yourself," Luo Feng sighed. "I haven't seen you crack open a book in years."

"Yeah, well…" Wei Wen scratched his head, chuckling. "Let's just try our best."

He didn't have much hope. Even with the system feeding him study boosts, his score wouldn't be anything stellar. Maybe enough for a second-rate university.

But he didn't care.

All he needed was for Luo Feng to awaken.

The gates of First High creaked open.

"Attention all students! Please enter and prepare for your exams!" a teacher shouted.

"Let's go," Wei Wen said, nudging Luo Feng forward.

They moved with the crowd, passed the ID checks, and entered their exam rooms.

The papers were handed out. Wei Wen glanced at his math sheet and immediately got a headache.

Nope. Don't know that one. Or that one. Ugh.

But again, none of this mattered.

His role today wasn't to pass. It was to spectate.

The system had already confirmed it: once Luo Feng awakened, he'd get a massive boost. The kind of power-up people dreamed of.

As the exam began, across the room, Luo Feng frowned.

The questions were brutal.

"This is… tougher than expected," he muttered under his breath. "But actually, that's good."

Why? Because when the test is easy, everyone gets good scores. But when it's hard, elite students pull ahead—and Luo Feng was elite.

He sharpened his focus and dove in, knocking out the multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions in record time.

Then came the long-form problems.

That's when it hit him.

A surge.

An ache.

His mind buzzed.

What Luo Feng didn't know was that, biologically speaking, every six years, a Psyker's latent potential stirred.

And this was Luo Feng's third cycle.

The pressure of the test—the mental strain—pushed him over the edge.

On his wrist, his biometric watch spiked.

Pulse: 120… 140… 160…180… 200… 220…240… 260…

His head throbbed. His vision blurred. In his mind, a dark golden sphere pulsed—his sea of consciousness lit up as tendrils of mental power spilled out.

Psyker energy.

Normally, the human body couldn't contain this kind of force. That's why the mind held it—tucked away, sealed until the awakening began.

And now?

The floodgates opened.

The pain was immediate. Crushing.

Even with Luo Feng's willpower, he couldn't bear it for long.

He collapsed—fainted right there in the exam room.

But that wasn't a bad thing.

When he hit the floor, he was no longer just a high school student.

He had become a Warrior.

And more importantly… he had begun his awakening as a Psyker.

"Alert: Bound friend Luo Feng has entered early-stage Psyker Awakening.""Reward: You have received a Planet-grade Tier-1 Psyker Core (dark-gold variant).""You have also entered preliminary Psyker Awakening."

Wei Wen sat in his chair, grinning from ear to ear.

Let the others study and stress. I'm just getting started.
