---

Zara shoved him away first.

The kiss had left her breathless, her heart pounding like a war drum. But she wasn't going to let him see that. Not when his mouth tasted like dominance and danger.

She wiped her lips with the back of her hand. "Try that again, and I'll bite off your tongue."

Damien chuckled, low and lethal. "Is that a promise, little thief?"

He walked past her like he owned the air. The room dimmed as the black curtains closed automatically. Then he turned, leaned against the desk, and beckoned her closer with two fingers.

She didn't move.

"I don't take orders," she said.

"You do now."

---

She hesitated.

Then walked forward—slow, proud, every step a dare.

When she was close enough to slap him, he reached into the drawer behind him and pulled out a small black leather book.

He tossed it onto the bed.

She looked down.

Embossed in red foil across the front:

Zara's Rules

---

She snorted. "You made me a rulebook? How romantic."

Damien's voice dropped. "You'll memorize every page."

She flipped it open, skimming.

Rule One: No lies.

Rule Two: You obey immediately.

Rule Three: You do not touch me unless I allow it.

Rule Four: Your body belongs to me.

Zara slammed the book shut.

"Cute. Do I get to burn it now or later?"

Damien stalked forward and took her chin between his fingers.

"I'll allow disobedience once," he whispered. "Because I enjoy breaking women like you. But cross me again, and I'll remind you exactly who owns you."

She met his gaze, fire to fire. "Try me."

He smiled.

"I plan to."

---

Then, he snapped his fingers.

Two guards entered the room.

Zara stiffened.

"You'll sleep in my bed tonight," he said.

Her breath hitched.

He stepped closer.

"But first
a demonstration of rule number four."

His hand slid slowly up her thigh.

Zara's mouth parted.

But not in protest.

What happens when a woman who won't bow meets a man who won't stop until she does?
