Chapter 1 - Initiation

It was dark. So dark, it seemed like he was floating in the void. Surrounded by complete darkness, even though his body was not there, his consciousness remained.

He was confused, as to why and how this wall of utter darkness was surrounding him and how was he there even though his body was not. Suddenly, he could hear different sounds and voices, even then, the only thing that was in the boy's sight was nothing but undiminished darkness.

From interpreting the sounds and voices he was hearing, he concluded that the different sounds and voices that were approaching his consciousness were from different sources. Clanking sounds of metals striking one another, sizzling of fire, hissing of snakes, gruesome and seemingly painful screams of people, he could hear them all. However, in those sounds, the boy was focused in the screams, slightly terrified, and confused as one of the screams seemed like a cry. In that cry, he felt something he could not describe in mere words or thoughts, it was something like an instinctual thing for him as he was primarily focused on that cry.

Closely listening to it, it was a woman's cry. The boy was curious. As curiosity had taken control of these thoughts, suddenly he could see something. It was a snake. A back snake with red eyes was staring at the boy after appearing out of blue in front of him. The 4-year-old boy, felt scared. The snake had appeared out of the darkness in front of him when he was lost in thoughts.

After some time had passed, the snake still staring at his consciousness and the boy still paralyzed in fear. Abruptly, a loud voice could be heard in a commanding tone, but it was hard to interpret what the voice had said, at that time the glow in the snake's eyes flickered, it had changed its resolve. The snake in front of the boy, bared its silver fangs and targeted the boy or rather his consciousness.

Awoken by fear, Reign, the 5-year-old boy frighteningly shouted and jumped from his wooden bed covered in white sheets, tears running down from his eyes. He found it hard to believe that the things he witnessed just a moment ago was a dream. With a blurry vision, he observed his surroundings.

The room was not so big yet not so small. It was of decent size, made from wood. The bed in which Reign was sleeping was on the right corner of the room, at its right wall was a window, from where rays of light were making their way into the room. Just up front the small bed and the window at the front right corner of the room, there was table and a chair in front of the it.

On the table, there were several books lying on top of each other. As for the left side of the room, there was also a window quite opposite to the window on the right side, but unlike the window on the right side the left side's window was dark and gloomy and like the right side, on the corner of the left side of the room, there was a bigger bed covered in white sheets.

While, rubbing his eyes and wiping his tears, Reign heard someone call him from outside the room. This voice was produced in a worried tone. As Reign realized who it was, the door at the middle of the front wall slammed open. A man with some white strands on his red hair and beard, with a worried face appeared in front of the door.

The man with crimson red eye had an eye-catching muscular build for his age. It was Reign's grandfather. Reign had realized that it was his grandfather who called him. As the man entered wearing only leather pants and boots, and nothing on his upper body, He hurriedly asked Reign, "What happened, boy?" "Why did you scream?" "A bad dream?" while observing him with a face of confusion and curiosity.

"Yes, it was a bad dream." Reign replied, still drowning in his own thoughts about the experience he just had and looking a little gloomy like he was in his own world. Reginhardt, his grandfather, continued observing Reign and the after a short while, he said in a worried full manner, "Now, Now, don't think about it too much, it will only get worse."

"I was just watering the plant outside, why don't you join me and freshen up a little? after that we can have some dinner." Reginhardt said in a cheerful manner. Reign willingly followed his grandfather's advice and jumped from his bed. Reginhardt was tall considering while standing completely still Reign only made it to his knees. Both made a little eye contact and headed out of the room.

Right outside the room, was another room where in the middle was a table of two and farther the table, there was a cabinet they used for cooking. On their right was the front door which led to the outside world.
