Chapter 3 - The Battle Between Gifted Students

The Battle Begins

Camellya opened the attack with her skill: Flame Spear A small dragon-head-shaped flame spear shot towards Verchiel.

Its heat made the air vibrate.

Verchiel activated his skill: Light Step His body moved incredibly fast moving quickly, then disappearing, and being reflected like a mirror.

The Flame Spear struck the ground and exploded.

Camellya smiled.

"You dodged it? Good. But what do you do?"

Camellia's Second Skill: Infernal Blossom

Dozens of sparks bloomed in the air and then exploded one by one, creating a rain of explosions that spread in all directions.

Verchiel used: Prism Veil

A thin shield of pure light appeared around her body. Blast after blast slammed into her, but the light dispersed the attacks into soft sparks.

The audience fell silent.

"Light magic... can withstand Camellya's blast?"

Camelya gritted her teeth. "Then... this is the end!"

Camelya's Third Skill: Dragonfire Rupture

She formed a giant fire dragon behind her. The dragon's breath gathered energy to destroy the arena.

Meanwhile, Verchiel closed his eyes briefly.

"Sorry... but I must win, to keep my secret."

Verchiel's Secret Skill: Holy Ray Line of Judgment

It wasn't a major attack. Just a thin line of light... but it concentrated, pierced through defenses, and struck the weak point at the fire dragon's heart.

BOOMMM!!!

With his breath gasping for breath, Verchiel won this match.

Winner: Verchiel

Cheers erupted throughout the arena.

Camelya looked down, her face flushed with anger and embarrassment. But Verchiel walked over to her and extended a hand.

"I respect your courage and strength. The fire you control... is incredibly beautiful."

Camelya looked up, slightly surprised.

Usually, her enemies underestimated her or fled in fear. But Verchiel... not.

For the first time, Camellya's face softened slightly. "You... are not only smart and fast. You also know how to treat your opponents."

She accepted the outstretched hand and stood up.

"...I haven't completely lost, Verchiel. Be careful, I'll have my revenge in the next match."

Verchiel smiled slightly. "I'll be waiting."

After the match, Verchiel started to strengthen his first skill, namely Light Step, and started to train it to level 2.

And Camellya started to think about Verchiel often for his kindness yesterday.

Camellya bit her lip, then stared out the window, illuminated by the afternoon light. Her voice was heavy, as if she were holding something back.

"I... don't understand myself."

Clara approached slowly. "What's bothering you, Miss?"

Btw Clara Maid Camellya

"That's the student I dueled with in the arena yesterday, Verchiel... He didn't humiliate me by losing, but he respected me, his words and gaze were strangely... warm. Even though I humiliated him in public."

Clara smiled slightly. "I see it, Miss. He's polite. Calm. But firm."

Camelya nodded quickly, almost frustrated. "Yes! That's him! But why do I... keep thinking about him? I'm Camellya Red Dragon! I should be thinking about dueling, magic, or... how to subdue the other students!" She stood up, pacing back and forth. "But all I can think about is that stupid smile of his!"

We Return To Verchiel POV

"I must immediately awaken my Archangel powers so I can become stronger."

"But wait, where is my signature weapon?"

What is a signature weapon? Signature weapons are the main weapons of the Archangels, and Verchiel's main weapon is nowhere to be found because he died first.

"Okay, so on holiday later I will try to find my signature weapon."

Hey, wait, wait, where's the servant my father sent? How could he forget?

It's okay, he'll come by himself later. Hmm, what's the point of being alone in the dorm?

Ah, I'll try cultivating my Light element. Who knows, maybe it'll level up.

Okay, time to cultivate.

4 Days Later

"Ah, it's already a holiday, what can I do for the next two days? Just go for a walk around town, I have a lot of money, I'm the emperor's son, you know?"

He strolled leisurely down the stone path toward the center of Mariness. His silver hair was loosely tied back, and a shabby brown robe covered his deliberately disguised figure. Although he hid his true identity as Verchiel, the God of Light, his majestic aura still occasionally radiated, captivating people's gazes without their even realizing it.

But his steps stopped when his eyes caught a figure with fiery red hair across the street.

His heart stopped for a moment.

Camellya.

The girl was standing in front of the jewelry store, wearing a casual dark purple dress with a thin dragon skin trim around her waist. Her face was serious, but there was a nervous glint in her eyes.

Beside her, the maid—Clara—nodded and spoke softly.

Verchiel smiled faintly. He decided to approach, but didn't immediately greet them. He walked as if passing by, then "accidentally" stopped a few steps away, looking at the dragon leather bracelets for sale at a nearby stall.

Camelya turned her head, and their eyes met.

For a moment, it was like time froze.

Camelya froze, her heart racing. "V-Verchiel...?"

Verchiel pretended to be surprised. "Eh? Oh, Camellya? Wow, I didn't expect to see you here."

Clara immediately bowed politely. "Good afternoon, Mr. Verchiel."

Camelya looked away, nervous. "I'm... just taking a walk. Today... is a holiday, so... well... that."

Verchiel smiled pleasantly. "Me too. I'm looking for a good place to eat. But I don't know where to go yet."

Camelya suddenly interrupted, "There's a restaurant I frequent near the fountain park. If you want... I can show you."

Verchiel stared at her for a few seconds, then nodded. "Of course. That would be very helpful."

Camelya blushed slightly, then slowly walked ahead, followed by Clara, who held back a small smile.

And for the first time... they walked side by side. No duel. No teasing. Just two souls slowly getting to know each other.
