Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Preludes of Chaos

[TOWER DESCENT: INITIALIZATION PHASE – STAGE ONE BEGINS]

Selected players have been chosen.

Each player will now undergo a 11-day tutorial phase.

One floor. Per day. Survive or die.

The rest of the world will remain unchanged—for now.

Humanity has not been purged... yet.

Across the globe, young adults vanished.

One moment, they were drinking coffee, jogging, gaming, arguing in traffic.

The next?

Gone.

Their bodies vanished from Earth—drawn into the Tower's pocket dimensions.

But their deaths?

Their screams?

Echoed back.

🌐 Earth – Still Untouched, Still Doomed

In a New York subway, a woman clutched her son's backpack.

He had vanished before her eyes.

His phone still blinked on the floor.

In Seoul, a father watched his daughter disappear while brushing her hair.

The mirror reflected an empty chair.

In Moscow, a classroom erupted into chaos as 7 out of 18 students dissolved mid-lecture.

And then… came the sky.

All over Earth, the clouds parted—not by weather, but by will.

And in every nation, every language:

[THE TOWER HAS BEGUN THE SELECTION]

This is not death.

This is the beginning of judgment.

The selected must climb.

You will watch.

You will wait.

You cannot interfere.

And Earth watched.

Watched as hundreds of millions vanished.

Watched as their children were tested in the dark.

Watched as the Tower's prelude began—and they were left behind.

🎯 Wang Ling – Dorm Rooftop, Eastern Zenith University

He stood beneath the cracked sky, feeling the hum of worldshift.

The air had changed.

Not for the civilians.

Not for the world.

But for the chosen.

"The first wave is gone."

"The others won't understand until it's too late."

"Just like before."

The tutorial hadn't started with noise or blood.

It started with rules.

Unspoken. Unchangeable.

And for 11 days, the rest of Earth would pretend they were safe—watching the news, calling it mass psychosis, terrorism, some divine trial.

But inside the Tower?

Hell had opened its foyer.

🕳️ Inside the Tutorial Tower – Floor 1 (Instance #1881-E)

A hundred players spawned into a forest that should not exist.

The trees breathed.

The ground pulsed.

And the objective appeared in burning white script:

[FLOOR 1 OBJECTIVE: KILL 1 ENEMY. SURVIVE FOR 12 HOURS.]

Some screamed.

Some prayed.

Some tried to find others.

Some... just ran.

🩸 Wang Ling – Inside Instance #1881-E

He walked forward in silence.

A corrupted figure—a mock human, half-dissolved—charged from the brush.

He sidestepped.

Gripped its skull.

Crushed it against a tree.

[Objective Complete.]

The system blinked.

Now the floor would watch him hunt the rest.

🧬 Elsewhere in the Tower – Other Player POVs

Eliza, A+ Spell Aptitude, London

"I was chosen! I'm not like the others—" She bled out with a knife in her throat, gifted by a smiling 12-year-old who wanted her boots.

Mikhail, Russian Military Cadet

Formed a squad. Gave orders.

First to die. Shot in the back during a ration dispute.

Tariq, Saudi Noble Heir

Refused to kill.

Begged the system for mercy.

Eaten by worms in hour 3.

By Hour 8, Wang Ling had cleared 5 kills.

[Optional Objective Completed: First Blood Bonus Achieved]

+1 Stat Point

Title Gained: "Those Who Die Behind Me"

Weak-minded enemies suffer terror within line of sight.

Trait Synergy Updated: Monarch's Aura Lv.1 → Lv.2

He sat beneath a bloodfruit tree as screams echoed.

Only 9 out of 100 remained.

"The Tower doesn't lie."

"It said 11 days. 11 floors."

"But no one said there'd be anyone left to reach the end."

Back on Earth, governments scrambled.

News anchors begged for answers.

Families prayed.

Phones rang into the void.

Some watched the livestream feeds—encrypted Tower signals projected via sky glyphs.

They watched children kill.

Watched friends turn feral.

And yet, they still didn't understand.

Wang Ling stood as the system reactivated.

[Floor 1 Complete.]

[Return to World Shell: Complete.]

[Next Tutorial Floor in: 23:59:59]

He reappeared in his dorm room.

The world still buzzed with normalcy.

Police sirens. Screams. But no monsters. Not yet.

Only the chosen knew.

Only the chosen were hunted—for now.

"Earth still thinks it has time."

"But time's a luxury the Tower doesn't offer twice."

"Tomorrow, Floor 2 begins."

"The day after that, fewer will return."

"And on Day 12…"

"The Tower comes for everyone."
