Elias's POV
The front door of the house flew open before we even reached the porch.
Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair came rushing out, and the relief on their faces was so intense it made my chest tight. Behind them were two people I recognized from Maeve's descriptions, Marcie and Liam, her siblings. And there was another girl who I was pretty sure was Ava, Maeve's best friend.
They all looked like they had been crying for days. Their eyes were red and swollen, their faces pale with the kind of exhaustion that came from staying awake all night worrying about someone you loved.
The moment Mrs. Sinclair saw Maeve in my arms, she let out a sob that seemed to come from somewhere deep in her soul.
"Oh my God, Maeve!" she cried, rushing toward us. "Precious Maeve!"
