The first thing I registered was the tapping.
Persistent, sharp, like someone impatiently drumming their fingers against a desk.
My eyes cracked open, heavy as bricks, and the world swam before coming into focus. I was lying on a bed I didn't recognize, tangled in a throw blanket that smelled faintly of vanilla perfume.
I immediately recognized it as Calla's room.
Which meant I had absolutely no idea how I'd gotten here.
I turned my head, and nearly shrieked when I found Ronan standing there, looking like a very annoyed ghost in the dim light.
He lifted a phone toward me. On the screen were four words scrawled in a notes app:
"Walk quietly. Calla's asleep."
I blinked at him, my brain still playing catch-up.
His mouth twitched like he was fighting the urge to smirk, then he gestured toward the door.
I pushed myself up, wincing at the pounding in my skull. Oh God. What happened last night?
