Chapter 4 - Harry's Judgement

Harry is relieved that he became friends with Lea. He wasn't sure about her at first; he didn't remember her in his previous life. But he didn't have magic then and probably wouldn't have interacted with Lea if he didn't see that she had magic. Though he still doesn't know what type of magic she has. Can any wizard do what Lea does if they tried, or is Lea's magic special?

When Harry first met Lea, he had only come back to his younger self over the weekend. He was still processing the fact that he had died and would never see everyone he knew in the same way again. Of course, he could still meet everyone again, but they would be a different version of them. It was all so overwhelming. So, when he saw something to take his mind off it and distract him, Lea's glowing eyes, he seized the opportunity.

At first, Harry was hesitant to tell Lea about magic. However, he realized he could physically see that she had magic, meaning she was a witch, and he would not be breaking the Statute of Secrecy. Harry started by telling Lea the basics of magic. He explained things like that there are other wizards, wands, Diagon Ally, and Hogwarts. Lea showed how cautious she is about hiding her own magic, so Harry isn't worried she will tell anyone. Normal kids would have shown off their powers to brag about their cool tricks. However, he does make sure to tell her how important it is that this stays secret, just in case.

Harry realized that teaching Lea about magic is advantageous to him. He will need all the help he can get to stop Voldemort. Allies will be hard to come by since Harry is only a kindergartner. Why would people older than him believe the story of a child? The problem is that he is not sure if he wants to drag her into this.

Trusting Lea will take time. Harry has to see how she reacts to everything before deciding to tell her more, and maybe ask for help. Anyways, it would not be good to overload her with information all at once.

In return for telling Lea about the basics of his magic, she tells him how she perceives hers. Harry is very intrigued with Lea's explanation and thought process. She cannot do anything outwardly yet, but figuring out how to feel magic and manipulate it without a wand is amazing. Most people would think about using magic to affect the world around them, not to improve on themselves.

Harry and Lea realize the fact that he is able to see Lea's magic when she is using it is probably because he is a wizard. The question is, can all wizards see it or only Harry? Also, if only he can see it, why only him?

Harry and Lea both talk back and forth with questions about the two ways of magic. Though in between their theories and explanations, Lea would ask Harry to elaborate on parts of the wizarding world. It wasn't until they got back to school and settled down a bit before Harry realized that a kindergartener should not have been able to have such an intelligent conversation with him.

Thankfully, Lea took Harry's trust in her to start the conversation about our mature speech. He wouldn't have known where to start. She didn't really talk about her past, probably because it wasn't important at the time. Harry decided to ask her about it another time. The biggest surprise was that she was from the future. Harry wonders what is different in the future. Well, Lea wouldn't know what changed in the Wizarding World since she mentioned she was a Muggle.

Harry is sad to learn that Lea came into this world as an orphan. He could see why she would prefer it this way; she doesn't want to feel like she replaced her parents. However, living in an orphanage means she doesn't have anyone to rely on. At least they don't physically abuse the children there. At least she doesn't have it as bad as him.

When Lea mentioned losing everyone, it brought back all my grief that Harry has been avoiding. It seems like Lea doesn't like the topic either since she soon changed the subject, asking for my story.

Harry thought that he would not have to tell his story for a few years. He hasn't even had a chance to get to know Lea. However, Lea held out an olive branch by telling him her story, and it would be rude to ignore it. Harry thought that if he asked, Lea would let him tell her his story another time, but he was already thinking about it and didn't want to have to think about it again later. Harry decided to just get it over with and told his story.

Harry thought talking about the past would hurt more than it did. Surprisingly, talking about it made his mind less jumbled and more stable. Talking with Lea made Harry realize that the future is not set in stone; it can be changed. He can save people. He doesn't believe he talked to Lea in his first life, so things have already changed.

Harry was embarrassed that Lea could tell about his situation at home. The teachers never said anything, so Harry thought it wasn't noticeable. Why didn't the teachers do anything if it was obvious?

Harry's chest burst with joy hearing that Lea tried to help him. Harry never thought there would be someone trying to help him. This made Harry lose all suspicion of Lea. Now he just wants to be her friend.

Harry was startled when Lea suddenly made him pick between one and two. She never told him why they did that, but it seemed to make Lea make up her mind about something, causing her to say what she said next.

Harry had thought of running away once or twice in his previous life. However, where would he go? But now Lea made Harry realize he knew more about the world than before, even if it's just the Wizarding World.

Humoring Lea with the idea of running away, he tries to make her realize why she would not want to go there. But her faith in Harry being able to change the future made him feel very moved.

However, there are still a lot of holes in the plan. Harry mentioned the living situation when Lea reminded him that they have time to plan it all out.

Harry thinks hard about the pros and cons. Pros: he doesn't have to relive his abusive childhood. Cons: the plan is flimsy and the timeline will change, making Harry's future knowledge possibly unusable. But Harry realizes that the plan can be worked out. Also, Lea is right; Harry deserves not to live through his horrible childhood again. Also, they could just cancel their plans if they can't iron out the plan enough.

Harry feels a bit of Gryffindor bravery and declares Lea his friend. Both of them being kindergartners was a good excuse. Then Harry realizes, 'Wait, is that how Hufflepuffs act?'

-----

Harry believes that he and Lea made some good plans over the days. They did their best to account for different what-ifs. But Harry's head started to feel a little fuzzy. It was subtle, but the headaches started happening more and more each day. Initially, Harry thought that it was just a side effect of one of the times one of the Dursleys hit Harry's head. Of course, he would not mention that to Lea; he didn't want to make her worry. But then it got worse. Harry didn't even realize how juvenile his thoughts had become until Lea mentioned it. Even then, he was barely able to fight the haze.

Harry feels lucky Lea is such a good friend. He might have been childish, but his memory is intact. He can still remember hanging out with Lea. She never got mad at him, even though she must have been frustrated or stressed about the situation. She never let it show on her face and even played with Harry to keep him happy. It wasn't until we removed the blocks that Harry realized how much Lea went through to help him. When Harry was in his childish phase, he was just happy that he finally had a friend. He thought it was worth the extra hits he got for running away from Dudley.

It was fun for Harry to re-experience the wizarding world like it was his first time again. Harry might remember now the fact that it was his second time seeing everything, but the emotions he felt throughout the whole process have stuck with him.

-----

Did Harry say that he was grateful to Lea yet? She even used all the money in her vault just to get him healed up and his blocks out. Harry knows what probably would have happened without Lea's help. He imagines that if he stayed like that, he probably would have ended up reliving his previous life without knowing. Harry doesn't know he is going to repay her.
