SUSAN
"Are you sure this is what you want to do?" Natalie asked as she handed Susan the small bouquet of roses. They stood in the lobby of the Hot Springs courthouse waiting for Ross and Garrett to arrive. The littlest Hart slept in the carrier clasped in Natalie's hand.
It had been a week since the disastrous phone call from her lawyer informing her of Mildred's marriage. When Ross offered again to marry her, she accepted. She hoped the judge assumed Ross had been her intended all along and didn't ask too many questions.
She was grateful when Natalie and Garrett insisted on accompanying them to Arkansas. Oklahoma required blood tests and a waiting period. Susan figured flying out to Vegas would be too obvious, especially since it had been the route taken by Mildred.
The temporary custody hearing would be held in ten days, so she didn't have the luxury of faking another wedding. Arkansas had no rules about blood tests or waiting periods, so here they were. Or she was.
