Chapter 55 - It's Cliche

"There's a gazebo and a pond down there," said Susan. "It used to be a pool when the Philbrooks lived here."

"I bet it's beautiful in the spring," said Ross.

"It is. I went to a wedding here once." She frowned. Ross wondered if she was thinking about his botched up proposal. Why had he proposed? Not out of love. Out of responsibility. He had offered a solution to a problem he'd created. No, he hadn't chosen the best way to win a woman's affections.

"Would you like to walk around?" asked Ross.

"I'd love to."

They spent a pleasant hour looking at paintings, statues, furniture, and exhibits. They didn't talk much, enjoying the same companionable silence they had at lunch. He saw Susan glance at her watch. "Better go. My treatment begins in a half hour."

"Treatment, huh? Sounds scary."

"Are you sure you don't want to go?"

"Positive."
