SUSAN MCMILLAN
Susan watched her pregnant best friend waddle around the kitchen. Natalie maneuvered into the chair across from her, and started eating a fat pickle dipped in chocolate ice cream.
"Isn't that too cliché to be real?" Susan asked.
"I had chicken livers with jalapenos last night. Garrett and the kids opted for hamburgers. And my own husband wouldn't kiss me until I brushed my teeth."
"You keep getting weirder."
Natalie grinned and bit into the pickle. "Okay. Now that I know the dirt about Ross Cameron, the errant nephew that made your heart go pitty-pat, give me the updates about Kelsey."
Susan sighed. "He did not make my heart go pitty-pat."
"Liar."
"Next subject, please."
"I take it Mildred the evil aunt hasn't given up."
"No. I can't stand that thought of that uptight, selfish piranha raising my five-year-old sister."
