"WE'VE GOT TO do something," Sylvie announced as she walked into the kitchen. "Garrett isn't going to bring us back tomorrow."
Mike dropped the sponge into the bucket and wiped his forehead. "Why not?"
"He said we've learned whatever it is he set out to teach us."
"You mean all this cleaning?"
Sylvie shrugged. "I guess so. We gotta figure out a way to come back. We've got to make him realize he needs us."
"What about Mommy?" Andie asked. She wiped the wall with a sloshing sound and then squeezed the sponge until water dripped onto the floor.
"Mom's crazy about him." Sylvie said.
"How do you know?" Mike asked.
Sylvie gave him a knowing look. "A woman knows these things."
"Well, let's find a woman and ask her," Mike said.
"Very funny." Sylvie leaned against the counter. "We have to find a way to get back here
tomorrow. We need every day we can get. Why can't Mom and Garrett see how perfect they are for each other?"
"What if we cleaned our house?" Mike suggested.
