The moon hung low over Beauxbâtons Château, its silvery light spilling gently through the open window of Eira's dormitory. The soft rustle of night breezes stirred the curtains as Eira lay curled beneath her warm blankets, drifting peacefully into sleep.
Suddenly, a sharp knock sounded against the glass—a rhythmic tapping that echoed faintly in the quiet night.
Eira stirred, opening her eyes slowly. Another sharp tap drew her attention toward the window.
Sitting poised on the windowsill was a sleek, dark-feathered hawk. Its keen eyes gleamed in the moonlight, and clenched in its beak was a sealed parchment.
Rising quietly, Eira slipped from her bed and crossed the room. She opened the window, and the hawk fluttered in gracefully, alighting on her desk with soft wings.
The bird dropped the letter onto the wooden surface, and Eira smiled gently as she reached into a small pouch at her side, pulling out a few pieces of dried meat.
The hawk's sharp eyes brightened as it eagerly pecked at the food, its hunger apparent as it tore into the morsels.
Taking the moment to enjoy the quiet company of her feathered messenger, Eira then turned her gaze to the letter before her.
The wax seal bore the familiar crest of the White family, and Eira recognized immediately the handwriting on the parchment—it was from Emma, her trusted assistant and steadfast ally.
With practiced fingers, she broke the seal and began to read:
"My Lady,
I write to you about the news of Hogwarts that has stirred the magical community once again. Earlier today, during the first Care of Magical Creatures class led by the new professor Rubius Hagrid—an assistant and close trusted friend to Dumbledore—a not so unfortunate accident occurred.
Draco Malfoy, son of Lucius Malfoy, sustained a serious injury to his hand when a hippogriff, under Professor Hagrid's supervision, reacted defensively. The wound is said to be severe enough to have drawn considerable attention.
Unsurprisingly, Lucius Malfoy stormed the Ministry of Magic, incensed by the incident. He confronted Minister Fudge, demanding swift justice. His demands include the immediate resignation of Rubius Hagrid, the permanent banishment of Hagrid from the Hogwarts grounds, and, most shockingly, the execution of the hippogriff involved.
The tension between Dumbledore and Malfoy has risen significantly in the wake of this event, though Dumbledore himself seems to largely ignore Malfoy's provocations.
At the heart of this turmoil is also young Harry Potter, whose name has surfaced repeatedly in discussions, though his exact involvement remains murky.
In an attempt to rally support, Lucius Malfoy has sent letters to all governors of Hogwarts petitioning for Hagrid's removal. I received one such letter and, on your behalf, have sent a reply firmly declining to interfere, noting that this matter is strictly between Lucius Malfoy and Dumbledore."
Eira leaned back slightly, her eyebrows arching in mild amusement as she whispered, "Wow… quite interesting."
She folded the letter carefully and held it close for a moment, her mind running over the tangled web of past events.
"After last year's incidents," she mused, "Lucius hasn't even shown a hint of shame. He's still trying to undermine Dumbledore—now using his son's injury as a weapon."
Her gaze drifted toward the moonlit garden outside, where shadows danced quietly.
"Dumbledore, of course, remains unfazed, choosing to ignore Malfoy's bluster. Still, it's amusing to watch this political chess game unfold."
Eira's lips curved into a small smile as she reflected on the absurdity of it all.
"And Harry Potter's involvement? That only thickens the plot. Typical."
She folded the letter neatly, setting it aside.
The hawk, now finished with its snack, ruffled its feathers and perched patiently by the window.
Eira reached up to open the sash wider and whispered, "Thank you, little friend."
With a powerful flap of wings, the bird took to the night sky, disappearing into the dark embrace of the castle grounds.
Lying back down, Eira closed her eyes, her thoughts lingering on the letter and the ongoing turmoil at Hogwarts—an intriguing spectacle, but one she knew was far removed from her own path.
Yet, tonight, it was a story to savor in the quiet shadows.
