Chapter 169 - Urban Pokémon [169]

Thundurus had never imagined Landorus would turn on it.

Caught completely off guard—it took Landorus's attack head-on.

BOOM!

Landorus's devastating strike slammed into Thundurus with full force.

With just one swipe of its claw, Thundurus crashed heavily to the ground.

"Marowak, [EARTHQUAKE]."

"Flareon, [FLARE BLITZ]."

"Everyone else, buff Flareon!"

The instant Thundurus hit the ground, Mars reacted immediately.

All at once, six Elite Four-tier Pokémon ganged up mercilessly on Thundurus.

Suffering repeated heavy blows, even a legendary Pokémon couldn't withstand that kind of punishment.

Finally, it collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.

At that moment, a Team Galactic member, prepared and waiting, immediately threw an Ultra Ball.

It struck Thundurus accurately, capturing it successfully.

Seeing this turn of events, Tornadus tried to escape by beating its wings furiously.

However, Mercury's six Pokémon held it back tightly.

When Landorus joined the pursuit, Tornadus inevitably met the same fate—being captured.

Once Thundurus and Tornadus were subdued, Cyrus personally captured Landorus in a Poké Ball.

With that—Team Galactic had successfully captured all three of the Forces of Nature.

"Leader, the plan is proceeding perfectly!"

Mars and Mercury respectfully handed over the Poké Balls containing the legendary Pokémon to Cyrus.

Holding all three Poké Balls, Cyrus's typically stern face finally revealed a rare trace of satisfaction.

With the trio under his control, their next operation could proceed flawlessly.

"Mercury, deliver these three Pokémon to Saturn."

"Then notify the Seven Sages that it's time."

Cyrus glanced calmly at the trio's Poké Balls, handing them off to Mercury without a trace of hesitation.

The trio were invaluable—but compared to their future "grand plan," they were merely pawns.

"Understood, Leader!"

Mercury accepted the Poké Balls, excitement burning in her eyes.

These Pokémon weren't hers.

Yet for the immediate future, she'd have permission to command one of them.

Leading a legendary Pokémon in battle—it was a dream countless Trainers yearned for.

Cyrus nodded once, then turned and headed toward the airship.

"Pack up the equipment. We're withdrawing!"

Mars gave orders to the assembled members, then quickly followed Cyrus.

Soon, Mercury was the only one left at the ruins. The rest of Team Galactic had boarded the airship and departed.

Mercury gazed eastward into the distance.

"Dragon Country… Here I come."

...

Half a month later. Shanghai Pokémon University. Gymnasium.

Two figures were locked in continuous clashes on the battlefield.

"Aron, [ROCK SLIDE]!"

"Monferno, [MACH PUNCH]!"

Two commands rang out above the gym almost simultaneously.

Then, under Aron's control, boulders the size of millstones appeared in midair.

Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh!

Like meteors, they hurtled down toward Monferno.

Facing the dense barrage, Monferno wore a focused expression, eyes flickering rapidly as if searching for something.

At the instant the rocks were about to strike, Monferno finally moved.

It seized the perfect moment and leaped.

It shattered the first boulder.

Then, using the fragments as stepping stones, Monferno climbed upward swiftly and precisely.

In a flash, Monferno not only evaded the Rock Slide—it also leveraged the attack to claim the high ground.

Monferno's rapid gaze earlier had been mapping out the optimal path.

"Monferno, [FLAME WHEEL]!"

As Hu Yan'er's voice rang out, flames erupted around Monferno's body.

A massive wheel of fire, boosted by the height advantage, plunged toward Aron.

"Aron, [DRAGON RUSH]!"

Su Qingxue didn't hesitate, immediately choosing to have Aron counter head-on.

"Aroooo!"

Roaring fiercely, Aron's body became enveloped in dense Dragon-type energy, forming armor shaped like a dragon.

With immense momentum, Aron charged forward, colliding directly into the descending Flame Wheel.

BANG!

After a thunderous collision, Aron and Monferno each slid backward several meters.

"Huff, huff, huff!"

It was a draw—but both Pokémon had reached their limits.

At this moment, the purpose of their training had been fulfilled.

Hu Yan'er shouted, "Monferno—unleash your power!"

Monferno nodded, eyes closing. Despite its exhausted state, it began tapping into the immense energy within.

Meanwhile, Su Qingxue and Aron waited patiently at the side.

This battle had been specifically designed to help Monferno control the explosive power of Blaze.

Half a minute later, an intense, scorching energy surged out from deep within Monferno.

Blaze has activated.

However, Hu Yan'er barely had time to celebrate before Monferno let out a pained howl—it had lost control again.

Back when Chimchar had triggered Blaze, it had achieved an unprecedented evolution.

Yet after evolving, the energy within Monferno grew even more powerful and unruly, leaving it unable to fully control the power.

"A failure again?"

Seeing Monferno about to lose control, Hu Yan'er sighed softly and raised her right hand to her chest.

I still have Aura!

Once again, Hu Yan'er's Aura surged forth.

Over the past two months, she hadn't missed a single day of Aura training, so now her mastery had reached a highly proficient level.

Under the calming influence of Hu Yan'er's Aura, Monferno gradually regained its senses—but at the same time, the Blaze power dissipated.

Monferno!

With Blaze fading, Monferno's body slumped weakly onto the ground.

"Come back, Aron."

Seeing this, Su Qingxue quickly recalled Aron into its Poké Ball.

Hu Yan'er took out a Fire-type Pokéblock to restore Monferno's strength.

"Monferno!" [Sorry, Trainer. I failed!]

Monferno woke up, regaining some strength but looking crestfallen.

It hadn't expected Blaze would overwhelm it again.

Hu Yan'er comforted Monferno gently, "It's okay, Monferno."

"If we failed this time—we'll just work harder next time. And think of it this way: the harder this power is to control, the more potential Blaze has."

After comforting Monferno, Hu Yan'er returned it to its Poké Ball to rest.

"Xue'er, let's head out."

Su Qingxue nodded, and the two walked side by side toward the gym's exit.

Rumble—rumble—rumble!

Just as they reached the doors, rolling thunder echoed across the sky.

Looking up at the gloomy, rain-soaked clouds, Hu Yan'er frowned.

"What's with this weather, anyway?"

"The typhoon hasn't even arrived, but it's already been raining nonstop for almost half a month."

Due to the endless rainy days, their training had to move indoors to the gym.

"Yeah," Su Qingxue sighed softly. "It's not just Shanghai. The whole southern region has been rainy for days."

"Thankfully, the rainfall hasn't been heavy enough to cause major disasters. But this weather really is strange. I heard on the news that the north hasn't had a single drop of rain for half a month."

"The League even dispatched Pokémon capable of summoning rain to relieve the drought, but the effect wasn't significant."

Fortunately, in a world with Pokémon, severe natural disasters like floods or droughts could still be mitigated by Pokémon power.

Yet even so, back-to-back disasters like these were uncommon.

They'd also heard that Chengdu had been experiencing frequent minor earthquakes recently.

Luckily, none of these quakes were strong enough to cause real damage.

After briefly complaining, the two opened their umbrellas and walked out into the rain.

They didn't notice, however, that within the dense storm clouds, a blue, dragon-shaped silhouette was swiftly heading southward.

That figure was none other than Thundurus—now under Team Galactic's control.

Its destination was Dragon Country's renowned Yunlong Dam.

Yet, it wasn't only Thundurus moving into action.

High above, a green avian figure—Tornadus—soared toward the northern forests.

And an earth-yellow tiger-like Pokémon, Landorus, moved steadily toward Chengdu.

Meanwhile, at a hidden base along Shanghai's coastline, a man in an elite uniform gazed excitedly at the departing trio.

Standing respectfully beside him was one of Guo Yi's old acquaintances—Lie Ke.

From Lie Ke's demeanor, the man's identity was clear.

Yang Yong, leader of the Seven Sages.

"The power of these three Pokémon… It probably rivals even the legendary beasts or birds, doesn't it?"

Yang Yong sighed appreciatively, turning to ask Mercury beside him.

Mercury laughed lightly. "Of course."

"To secure these three Pokémon, we spent a considerable amount of effort."

After parting from Cyrus earlier, Mercury had infiltrated Dragon Country alone, relying on her Pokémon's abilities.

She then met up with Yang Yong to initiate the plan arranged previously.

The abnormal weather affecting Dragon Country lately was precisely their doing—achieved using the trio's power.

And now, the timing was perfect.

Their meticulously prepared operation was finally about to begin.

"Alright, Leader Yang."

"The trio have arrived at their designated locations and begun causing destruction as planned. The wildfires in the north and the earthquakes in Chengdu—Team Galactic will handle those personally."

"As for the dam operation in the south, that will depend on your Seven Sages' capabilities."

Mercury paused slightly.

"Leader Yang—Team Galactic's resources aren't easily acquired."

"If you don't deliver the promised results, the consequences won't be something your Seven Sages can bear. That's all I have to say."

"I'll be leaving now."

With that, Mercury turned and left the base, ignoring the darkening expressions on Yang Yong and Lie Ke's faces.
