Chapter 114 - Urban Pokémon [114]

"Venusaur, [Leech Seed]!"

After Venusaur finished setting up with [Ingrain], Shen Yongfeng immediately issued another command.

This wasn't like a game, where Pokémon took turns politely exchanging moves.

In the real world—as long as a Pokémon was quick enough, and the opponent didn't react in time,

you could launch multiple attacks back-to-back without issue.

"Da-na!"

Several seeds, each the size of an adult fist, shot out from the giant flower on Venusaur's back, flying straight toward Nidoking.

With Ingrain as its base, if these [Leech Seeds] landed as well, Venusaur would become practically invincible.

Paired with [Synthesis], [Sleep Powder], and other stalling moves,

Shen Yongfeng was confident he could torment Nidoking to death.

But—

Just as his confidence swelled, a blazing orange-red flame suddenly appeared, instantly raising the temperature of the battlefield by several degrees.

Shen Yongfeng's expression, originally full of confidence, slowly turned blank and numb.

He let out an incredulous cry:

"[Flamethrower]?!"

...

The reason Guo Yi didn't choose to battle with Nidoqueen, and instead evolved his Nidorino with a [Perfect-Grade Moon Stone], was precisely due to Nidoking's incredibly wide move coverage.

Nidoqueen might have had higher levels, but her move pool was too limited.

One-on-one fights would've been fine—but in a one-versus-three scenario, she'd quickly fall into a disadvantage.

However, Nidoking had no such problems after evolution.

Though Guo Yi himself hadn't directly trained Nidoking's moves, the power of his linked templates was simply overwhelming.

Any move that Su Qingxue's Nidoqueen mastered, Nidoking would learn automatically.

No—more accurately, any move Su Qingxue's Pokémon had mastered, as long as Nidoking could learn it, he acquired effortlessly.

To put it bluntly—with Nidoking's current arsenal of moves, he had coverage moves to counter at least a dozen or more of the eighteen Pokémon types.

And this terrifying versatility, combined with [Sheer Force] and a [Life Orb], was the true horror of this Nidoking.

When using a super-effective move, the damage he unleashed was no weaker than that of Pokémon using moves of their own type.

Facing this kind of overwhelmingly versatile fighting strength—

How could you not feel afraid?

"Nido!"

Nidoking once again opened his huge mouth—and in the next instant, searing-hot flames burst forth from within.

The flames effortlessly incinerated Venusaur's [Leech Seeds] mid-air, continuing relentlessly toward Venusaur itself.

Seeing this, Shen Yongfeng panicked completely.

Why can a Nidoking use [Flamethrower]?!

They'd already been shocked enough when Nidoking earlier used [Thunderbolt], but [Flamethrower] appearing now completely destroyed his composure.

In his panic, Shen Yongfeng instantly gave a wrong command:

"Venusaur, dodge!"

Yes, that's right—in his flustered state, Shen Yongfeng had completely forgotten:

Due to [Ingrain], Venusaur couldn't move an inch!

He could only watch helplessly as those terrifying flames engulfed Venusaur entirely.

When the flames finally dissipated, the roots Venusaur had planted deep into the earth had all been reduced to ashes.

As for Venusaur itself—its body was now scorched black all over, eyes spinning dizzily, completely limp on the ground.

"I... lost…"

Shen Yongfeng slumped weakly onto the floor, unable to accept this harsh reality.

"Why can a Nidoking breathe fire?"

"Why is the [Flamethrower] from this Nidoking even stronger than that from actual Fire-type Pokémon at the same level?"

"Why…?"

Shen Yongfeng had instantly become a man of endless questions, muttering helplessly under his breath.

Beside him, Cai Guan and Fu Hong also stood utterly dumbfounded.

Originally, in their minds, Venusaur—successfully entrenched with [Ingrain]—was already guaranteed not to lose.

Who would've thought, reality would immediately slap them across the face?

A Nidoking using [Flamethrower] had instantly incinerated all of their fantasies.

Faced with the emotionally collapsed Shen Yongfeng, Guo Yi's expression remained cold and indifferent, not showing even a trace of sympathy.

Yesterday's causes bring today's consequences.

If you did certain things, you'd naturally bear their outcomes yourself.

"Teacher Fu, you're the last one left."

Guo Yi impatiently urged Fu Hong:

"Hurry up. If you stall any longer, class will be over."

"Ah!"

"R-right, yes!"

Fu Hong snapped back to reality, answering with noticeable fear.

Right now—the three of them felt genuine, bone-deep dread toward Guo Yi.

Truly, only after experiencing it themselves could they clearly grasp just how vast the gap between them and a real genius actually was.

Meanwhile, Cai Guan helped the dazed Shen Yongfeng to his feet, then used the Poké Ball at Shen's waist to recall Venusaur.

Fu Hong slowly walked into position, facing Guo Yi head-on.

Don't panic, Fu Hong! You can do it!

His Nidoking has already fought two Pokémon consecutively; surely its stamina is nearly depleted.

You'll definitely win!

Though he was clearly fooling himself, it was the only way to dispel the deep fear in his heart.

Muttering self-encouragement, Fu Hong took out a Poké Ball, releasing his ace:

"Come out, Onix!"

"Roar—!"

With a deafening roar, an enormous serpent composed entirely of massive gray stones appeared at the center of the field.

[Onix (Rock/Ground)]

[Gender: ♂]

[Level: Lv60 (Gym Leader-level)]

[Ability: Sturdy (Cannot be knocked out by a single move)]

[Moves: Double-Edge, Stone Edge, Dig, Iron Tail, Rock Slide (Commonly used)]

[Tutor Moves: Rock Polish, Gyro Ball]

[Egg Move: Rock Climb]

[Held Item: Hard Stone (Gym Leader-level)]

[Potential: Pseudo–Elite Four]

It had to be said—

Not only were Cai Guan, Fu Hong, and Shen Yongfeng roughly equal in strength, but even their Pokémon types directly countered one another:

Pidgeot (Normal/Flying) countered Venusaur (Grass/Poison); Venusaur countered Onix (Rock/Ground); and Onix, in turn, countered Pidgeot.

Perhaps due to this, the three constantly competed with each other over every little thing—

Even requesting from the school to schedule their classes simultaneously.

If any one of them had not been here, or if another, more senior teacher had been present instead, perhaps none of today's events would have happened.

Unfortunately, some things were simply destined to happen.

After today, the comfortable days these three had once enjoyed would likely become nothing more than a memory.

...

"Onix, [Gyro Ball]!"

Facing Guo Yi, the three teachers didn't dare relinquish the first strike.

Each time, the moment they released their Pokémon, they immediately issued battle commands.

But Guo Yi didn't care.

Whether he moved first or second—for him, the outcome remained unchanged.

"Roar!"

Onix's elongated stone body swiftly coiled itself, compressing instantly into an enormous stone sphere that began spinning at tremendous speed, crashing toward Nidoking.

[Gyro Ball]:User spins its body at high speed, slamming into the opponent. The slower the user compared to the opponent, the stronger the attack.

Truth be told—Onix's [Gyro Ball] was genuinely imposing!

The swiftly rotating stone sphere whipped up powerful gusts, nearly forming a small, sandy whirlwind as it surged forward.

However—

All spinning attacks needed a brief acceleration period to reach maximum speed.

And that period of acceleration was precisely its weakest moment.

Thus—the crowd again heard another skill name that shattered their worldview.

"Nidoking, [Ice Beam]!"

Again, the same astonishing maneuver.

Chilling ice energy quickly condensed in Nidoking's mouth, and immediately burst forth.

A frigid, piercing [Ice Beam] swept across the battlefield, leaving a path of jagged ice spikes in its wake, striking directly at the charging Onix.

In the blink of an eye, Onix became nothing more than a frozen sphere of ice, halted firmly in its tracks.

Thankfully, Onix's ability was [Sturdy], preventing it from being knocked out instantly.

However—Guo Yi calmly issued another stunning command:

"Nidoking, [Water Pulse]!"

Yet another move completely beyond everyone's expectations.

A surging torrent of blue waves crashed directly onto the frozen sphere, shattering it instantly.

Endless waves battered Onix's rocky body, draining its remaining shred of strength.

"Roar—!"

With one final, resentful cry, Onix crashed heavily to the ground.

And with that, all three teachers had suffered a complete defeat—the entire battle having lasted less than ten minutes.

An average of around three minutes per fight—wasn't this simply bullying at its finest?

Even Hu Yan'er, Guo Yi's own student, stared at the scene in utter disbelief.

She'd expected her teacher to win, but never had she imagined it would be this overwhelmingly decisive.

Meanwhile, Su Qingxue and He Yongsen looked relatively calm.

After all, they knew Guo Yi's true identity clearly.

The battle they just witnessed was shocking, yes—but compared to their teacher's past accomplishments, it wasn't much at all.

However, for the students who'd been watching, this battle completely shattered their existing views on Nidoking.

[Thunderbolt], [Flamethrower], [Ice Beam], [Water Pulse]—

My goodness!

Not a single move belonged to Nidoking's own typing.

Yet each move's power had matched—or perhaps even exceeded—that of a Pokémon attacking with moves of their own type.

Watching this, many students couldn't help but feel inspired to raise a Nidoking themselves.

This Pokémon before them wasn't merely a Nidoking anymore—it was clearly an omnipotent, type-covering monster!

Owning a Nidoking was essentially equivalent to owning several Pokémon of different types simultaneously.

It not only granted incredible type coverage but also significantly reduced the resources required for training multiple Pokémon—an absolute win-win situation!

But just as everyone was still marveling at Nidoking's incredibly diverse moveset—one student hesitantly pointed out something strange:

"The item Teacher Guo tossed Nidoking earlier...it seemed like a [Life Orb]?"

"But doesn't the [Life Orb] continually drain a Pokémon's HP each time it attacks?"

The moment those words were spoken, everyone present suddenly realized something was indeed amiss.

Exactly right!

What had happened to the [Life Orb's] recoil effect?

Nidoking had consecutively battled three Pokémon.

Logically speaking—even if it hadn't taken any direct hits, Nidoking should have been thoroughly exhausted by now due to the [Life Orb's] drawback.

But looking at Nidoking's current vigorous condition, it seemed entirely unaffected by the [Life Orb].

"Could it be…?"

An impossible thought flashed through everyone's mind:

Teacher Guo's Nidoking…was actually immune to the recoil effect of [Life Orb]?!
