Chapter 110 - Urban Pokémon [110]

"That's it?"

"Teacher, isn't dragging out classes supposed to be your specialty? You can't lose that, you know!"

"Yeah, Teacher! For heaven's sake, just teach a little longer!"

As the bell rang, students reluctantly complained, openly encouraging Guo Yi to inherit the proud teacherly tradition of extending class time.

Unfortunately...

For Guo Yi, that was absolutely impossible.

Extending class time?

Not a chance!

He got paid strictly per lecture—going overtime didn't mean extra pay!

For the betterment of the world, Guo Yi firmly rejected such ideas.

Cough, cough!

Guo Yi cleared his throat, calmly replying, "You won't digest it properly if I give you too much at once. Just focus on fully understanding today's material."

"I'll cover more content next class."

"For now, everyone meet at the training stadium. Practical training begins there."

Seeing Guo Yi's mind was made up, the students reluctantly lowered their heads and grouped up, heading to the stadium together.

"Teacher," Su Qingxue immediately approached him after class, "you emphasized the importance of the weather-setter earlier. Should I start preparing now?"

Guo Yi nodded.

"You can ask your mother to look around for any promising Larvitar for you."

The weather-setter was core to any weather-based team; naturally, the earlier it was trained, the better.

Unfortunately—Guo Yi himself hadn't yet found any suitable Larvitar, so for now he could only focus on training other members of Su Qingxue's Sandstorm team.

Aside from Beedrill both Nidoqueen and Aron were exceptionally suited for a [Sandstorm] team.

As for why Larvitar was chosen over Hippopotas or Gigalith...

Simply because Larvitar's potential and growth ceiling far surpassed the others.

After all Tyranitar was one of the few weather-setters capable of [Mega Evolution].

"Alright, I'll contact my mom immediately," Su Qingxue nodded and stepped aside to call her mother.

Still—Larvitar, as a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, was extremely rare by default. Finding one with exceptional talent wouldn't be easy.

Seeing Su Qingxue move aside—Leng Yue approached with Bai Cai.

"Teacher Guo, may I ask when you'll cover [Hail]-weather strategies?"

Though Leng Yue's Pokémon had nothing to do with [Sandstorm], she'd still learned plenty from Guo Yi's lecture.

After all—each weather-based team had much in common: a weather-setter, physical attackers, special sweepers, defensive walls, and so forth.

Frankly—if a trainer had enough Pokémon in reserve, they could switch between all four weather teams at will.

Seeing Guo Yi had such unique insight even into [Sandstorm], Leng Yue naturally grew curious about his ideas on Hail weather.

Guo Yi smiled gently at her question. "[Hail], huh? I'm afraid you'll need to wait a while."

"After all, we've only just begun covering [Sandstorm]; there's much more left."

Leng Yue felt slightly disappointed hearing that.

I should've spoken up earlier.

As the granddaughter of the Ice King, Leng Yue's future path would certainly focus on the [Hail] strategy.

Initially—Leng Yue had assumed Guo Yi's weather explanations would cover only basic ideas, so she'd attended merely out of curiosity.

Yet she'd never imagined that Guo Yi would surpass all her expectations.

Seeing Leng Yue's disappointment, Guo Yi consoled her warmly, "Leng Yue, you already have the best possible teacher for [Hail]."

"Surely the Ice King's insights surpass mine by far."

Honestly speaking—Guo Yi sincerely admired the Ice King.

Not just because the Ice King single-handedly brought international recognition to trainers from the Dragon Country, but also because he'd achieved this feat using the notoriously difficult-to-master [Hail] team.

Among the four mainstream weather strategies—[Sun], [Hail], [Sandstorm], and [Rain]—the [ [Hail] team was universally recognized among Pokémon fans in his previous life as the weakest.

Few Pokémon fit well into a [Hail] strategy, and most of those were Ice-types.

In contrast—[Sandstorm] teams had Rock, Ground, and Steel types to synergize with, greatly expanding options with various abilities.

For the Ice King to display such extraordinary prowess using the weakest weather team—

That truly left Guo Yi amazed.

And it taught him never to underestimate anyone.

After briefly chatting with Bai Cai, Guo Yi led the group toward the stadium.

On the way—Hu Yan'er eagerly asked Su Qingxue, "Xiaoxue, what weather system do you think Teacher planned for me? [Sun], [Rain], or [Hail]?"

Hu Yan'er only mentioned three weather types.

As for [Sandstorm]—after listening to Guo Yi's lecture, she already knew it didn't suit her. Neither Pikachu nor Chimchar could handle Sandstorm damage effectively.

Su Qingxue shook her head, "You'll need to ask Teacher yourself about that."

Weather-team selection effectively represented their future path as trainers. She wouldn't dare casually guess.

Beside them—He Yongsen quietly pondered the same question, evaluating weather systems suited to his own path.

[Hail] and [Sandstorm] clearly won't suit me.

[Sun] seems ill-fitted to my career as well.

That leaves [Rain] as the best fit.

I'll need to ask Teacher about training me toward a [Rain] team.

Unlike Su Qingxue and the others—

As a Pokémon firefighter, He Yongsen didn't seek pure destructive power. His priority was firefighting and rescue—maximizing speed and efficiency.

Each profession had its specialty; everyone must fulfill their roles.

Even though he had clear talent to become an exceptional Pokémon trainer, it wouldn't sway him from his original goal.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

The bell rang again as the group reached the stadium.

Currently besides Guo Yi's class, three other classes had practical training there.

"Teacher, it seems there's no space left."

Su Qingxue's brows furrowed at the packed stadium already occupied by other classes.

Though the stadium seemed spacious, it only contained six full-sized battle arenas. From this angle, space suddenly seemed very limited.

Guo Yi glanced around briefly before smiling confidently.

"It's not a big problem. Let's just borrow an arena from another class."

He turned toward Bai Cai.

"Teacher Bai, do you know those instructors over there?"

Guo Yi pointed toward several teachers standing among their respective students.

Teachers and students were easy to distinguish, after all.

Bai Cai nodded immediately, answering, "That tall, thin teacher is Cai Guan; he specializes in Flying-types."

"The slightly overweight one is Fu Hong, a Rock-type specialist."

"The last one's Shen Yongfeng, a Grass-type expert."

Bai Cai had taught at Shanghai Pokémon University for three or four years now. Naturally, she knew most of the faculty.

Especially these three teachers, all relatively well-known at the university. She obviously recognized them at a glance.

"Thanks," Guo Yi replied warmly, then strode confidently toward the closest teacher—Cai Guan.

Nearby—Leng Yue shook her head helplessly upon seeing this.

"I'm afraid Teacher Guo will return empty-handed this time."

She knew these three teachers' personalities well enough.

If her memory wasn't mistaken, all three were among Bai Cai's most fervent admirers.

Faced with their supposed romantic rival, how could they yield ground easily?

Hearing this, Bai Cai's brow creased with worry.

Understanding Leng Yue's implication clearly, she immediately said, "Maybe I should go over and smooth things out."

If her presence caused friction between Guo Yi and these teachers, she'd feel truly guilty.

However—just as she prepared to step forward, Su Qingxue spoke coldly from beside her, "This is Teacher's own business. He dislikes outsiders interfering."

Having studied under Guo Yi for so long, Su Qingxue deeply understood her teacher's temperament.

He particularly disliked others interfering, especially when the matter clearly fell under his own responsibilities.

Exactly like the situation unfolding right now.

Since Guo Yi decided on practical training, securing a battle area became his own responsibility.

If he needed outside help even for something like this, he'd lose face completely.

After all, he hadn't joined the university just to suffer humiliation.

Hearing this—Bai Cai stopped in her tracks.

Truthfully, she also knew that given Guo Yi's abilities, obtaining a practice field wouldn't pose much difficulty. But the process, she feared, wouldn't be as smooth as she hoped.

I just hope Teacher Guo doesn't blow things out of proportion, she silently prayed.

Unfortunately...

The more you feared something, the more likely it was to happen.

"Teacher Cai, good day."

Guo Yi greeted Cai Guan politely, wearing a friendly smile.

"Oh, if it isn't Teacher Guo!"

Cai Guan smiled broadly, his voice carrying subtle mockery. "What brings a famous person like you here to see me?"

Though Cai Guan's smile was bright, Guo Yi immediately caught the underlying hostility. Glancing slightly, he noticed Cai Guan's eyes darting towards Bai Cai standing nearby.

Guo Yi instantly understood the source of this hostility.

Ah, a beautiful woman really can cause disaster!

Inwardly sighing, Guo Yi got straight to the point.

"Teacher Cai, here's the thing—I need a battle field for my students' training. Would you mind lending us some space?"

Although Cai Guan's attitude was clearly poor, Guo Yi had arrived after them, so courtesy was still required.

But upon hearing Guo Yi's request, a flash of satisfaction gleamed in Cai Guan's eyes.

Internally, he sneered triumphantly: Heh! So even you, Guo Yi, have to beg others sometimes.

Too bad there's no way I'll yield any field space to you.

Had it been any other teacher, Cai Guan would have given up a field without hesitation. After all, his students mostly trained Flying-type Pokémon; the whole stadium's sky was their practice area, so an extra ground field meant little.

But if it was Guo Yi asking—especially with Bai Cai watching—he'd never willingly back down.

Feigning regret, Cai Guan said apologetically, "Ah, sorry, Teacher Guo. It's not that I don't want to help, but as you can see, my students all have Flying-types. They need plenty of room."

Guo Yi calmly scanned the area.

Nearby fields clearly lay empty, and the students' Pokémon circled high above in midair, entirely unaffected by ground space. It was obvious Cai Guan simply didn't want to help.

Yet Guo Yi didn't get angry. Instead, he politely nodded and excused himself.

Turning away, he approached the other two teachers, Fu Hong and Shen Yongfeng, hoping they'd spare him a training field.

Seeing this, Cai Guan sneered disdainfully under his breath.

Hmph! So what if you have an Elite Four-level Pokémon?

You still have to beg us. But do you really think they'll give you face?

Knowing the personalities of Fu Hong and Shen Yongfeng very well, Cai Guan understood he was actually the easiest among the three. Since he'd already refused, there was no chance the others would accept.

Just as he expected—Guo Yi's request was coldly rejected by both.

Fu Hong even openly mocked, "Just a mere teaching assistant, and you want us to vacate our field for you? Who even knows if that Elite Four-level Ninetales was raised by you or just given by your family."

Faced with such humiliation, Guo Yi offered no retort. Instead, he turned silently and walked back to his students.

Seeing him leave quietly without protest, all three teachers became even more contemptuous.

When Guo Yi returned, Bai Cai approached anxiously. "Teacher Guo, did any of them agree?"

Guo Yi helplessly shrugged. "Not a single one."

Hearing this—the faces of Su Qingxue, He Yongsen, and Hu Yan'er instantly darkened.

As Guo Yi's disciples, how could they possibly sit still after seeing their teacher insulted?

He Yongsen, boiling with anger, immediately spoke up, "Teacher, why don't I go challenge that Shen Yongfeng?"

"Let's see if he still has the guts to occupy that field after losing to a student!"

Ever since Guo Yi used Sacred Ash to revive He Yongsen's Arcanine, dramatically increasing its potential, it had made immense progress.

Previously already Gym Leader-tier at Level 55, it had now rapidly reached Level 59.

With strength like this, He Yongsen's Arcanine surpassed even some teachers.

Facing Shen Yongfeng, who specialized in Grass-types, He Yongsen was fully confident in his victory.

Following He Yongsen's lead—Hu Yan'er whispered softly to Pikachu perched on her shoulder, "Pikachu, make sure to use extra [Thunderbolts] later. Seeing those Pokémon flying arrogantly up there irritates me."

Won't lend us a field, huh?

Then I'll make sure the entire sky is off-limits.

During this period—Hu Yan'er had carefully tested Pikachu's abilities after consuming the enhanced [Light Ball].

The results had left her utterly amazed!

Though Pikachu hadn't officially reached Ace-tier yet, its electrical power definitely belonged in that category.

Those Flying-types circling above, not even at Excellence-tier—

They wouldn't even last a single [Thunderbolt]!

"Pika-pika!"

Pikachu nodded eagerly, sparks crackling from the electric pouches on its cheeks, clearly ready for battle.

Towards Guo Yi, Pikachu held deep respect and affection. How could it let anyone disrespect him like this?

With He Yongsen and Hu Yan'er already brimming with fighting spirit—

Su Qingxue, Guo Yi's first and most senior disciple, naturally had no intention of backing down.

With eyes cold as ice—without another word, she threw two Pokéballs into the air.

Bzzz!

Nidooo!

Beedrill and Nidoqueen instantly appeared, ready to fight.

She might not be able to beat the teachers—but their students?

Sorry, but she was invincible among peers!
