Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Finally Set Sail

It was the year 1520 of the Haiyuan calendar—the second year since Lynn had crossed into the world of One Piece.

In a forest far from Windmill Village, now grown even wilder and more imposing, the voice of the Flirty System echoed in his mind:

"Ding! Congratulations to the host for unlocking the System Store."

Startled, Lynn quickly opened his panel:

Staring at the dazzling array of items, Lynn was briefly stunned, then muttered with a weird expression,

"System, I'm a serious person. What's with all the weird stuff in the shop?"

[Flirty System]: Who you are has nothing to do with the system. All interpretations are subject to the item description.

"Hehe…" Lynn chuckled. "This is fun. But isn't this a little overpriced? What the hell is I Have a Sword? It costs a hundred million! Who would be dumb enough to buy that?"

At the moment, Luffy still outmatched him in all physical stats. Lynn figured that fighting real pirate crews might be a better way to grow. After all, the system clearly rewarded high-stakes, flashy performances.

Before he could dig further into the store, a familiar voice rang out.

"Lynn! You cheated again!" Luffy came running, looking aggrieved. "You promised you wouldn't use your ability, and then bam—you used it again!"

Lynn waved him off. "Whatever. Let's change the subject. We're heading out to sea tomorrow, right?"

Luffy's face lit up with excitement. "Yeah! I've been waiting for this day forever. I'm gonna become the Pirate King!"

Lynn gave a long sigh. "I want to leave too. Living like this every day... tsk tsk tsk. But now that we're leaving, I'm feeling kinda reluctant."

Luffy sat down on his usual rock and gazed out at the sea. Lynn joined him, sitting in the spot that used to belong to Ace.

The sea breeze brushed past them. In the vast horizon ahead stretched the endless unknown—their adventure's starting point.

What kind of people would they meet?

What kind of challenges would they face?

What kind of life was waiting for them?

The moment felt almost poetic.

"…This calls for a drink," Lynn muttered, and pulled out a bottle of red wine from his space backpack—the good stuff, swiped from the noble district.

He handed one to Luffy.

"Come on. Cheers—to life."

"Cheers to life! Hehe…"

Though Luffy wasn't fond of drinking, after being constantly tempted by Lynn, he gradually got used to it.

After all, what kind of pirate doesn't drink?

The next day – Windmill Village Port

Two figures sat aboard a small ship—twice the size of the one Luffy used in the original story. Two empty wooden barrels were secured to the sides of the deck.

"Just in case," Lynn had said, "If a storm hits, I'm doing what the original author did—hide in a barrel."

As for food and supplies? All safely tucked inside Lynn's space backpack.

The villagers gathered quietly at the shore. Luffy waved. "Goodbye, everyone!"

"Luffy! Lynn! Farewell!"

"Have a safe journey!"

"…Are they really going out to sea in that boat?"

Whispers spread among the crowd as the boat pulled away.

Suddenly, beneath the ship, the water began to bubble. Something massive approached from below.

Lynn narrowed his eyes. "Luffy, I heard this stinky fish has been terrorizing the coast. Since it's here today, I'll help the villagers take care of it."

"I'll beat it up real good!" Luffy grinned. "Come on, stinky fish!"

"Beat it up? Please. I'm chopping it to pieces." Lynn rolled his eyes.

Back on shore, villagers grew nervous.

"…Why are they playing rock-paper-scissors?! Don't they see the danger?"

"Luffy! Lynn! Behind you—it's the Sea King!"

"Run, you idiots! Stop playing games!"

On the boat, Lynn grinned. "Haha, I won."

"Space Field."

CLANG—!

Before anyone could react, a flash of white light split the sea—and the Sea King's head flew skyward.

Lynn leapt from the deck, caught both the head and the body mid-air with one hand, and shouted:

"GO! PIKACHU!"

The entire massive fish slammed into the coastline.

BOOM!

As the dust settled, jaws dropped across Windmill Village.

"SS-Sugoi…"

"He just… tossed it one-handed?"

"What kind of monster is this guy?!"

Luffy pouted. "Hmph. I could've thrown it too…"

Lynn casually tossed him a drumstick. "Here. Your chicken leg."

Luffy's face lit up. "My chicken leg! Lynn, you're the best!"

Their boat drifted farther from Windmill Village, into the real sea. Sky and ocean blended into a single endless blue.

Lynn began to panic. "Luffy, where the hell are we going? If we just float like this, where will we end up?!"

Luffy replied lazily, "We'll reach our destination eventually."

"...You're way too chill about this. What next? You gonna say we'll drift straight to the Grand Line?"

"Really?!"

"DREAM ON!" Lynn snapped. "Don't you feel any sense of danger? If a storm hits now, which of us do you think is drowning first?"

"Eh? Storm?" Luffy scratched his head. "So what do we do?"

"How should I know? One thing's clear—we need to find a navigator ASAP. Otherwise, we're just lost at sea."

Luffy nodded, "Okay. Let's look for a navigator first."

Lynn leaned against the side of the boat, muttering, "This is insane… we're just drifting, no idea where we'll end up…"

Luffy smiled. "Don't worry. We'll get there eventually."

After some time had passed, both of them sensed something was wrong. The boat began to spin slowly, then faster and faster.

Lynn's eyes widened. "Oh no. Paddle! We're stuck in a whirlpool!"

Luffy: "Ohhhhhh—!!"

But no matter how hard they paddled, it was no use. A massive wave was building on the horizon, rolling toward them.

Even Lynn's abilities couldn't counter something this wide.

As the whirlpool spun closer, Lynn shouted, "Luffy! Get in the barrel! The ship's going down!"

Luffy leapt to the side. "What about you?!"

"I'm not some amateur! I can swim. I'll find you later!"

"Okay!"
