Chapter 2 - Think back

System: That's because you didn't deserve it. Show me results and maybe you will get the priviledge of eating. You don't even deserve the bed.

X: What?

System: You think stuff here are handed for free? Think again.

Z: Fine by me. Good luck starving losers.

R: You'll starve too punk.

Z: Nah, three people died. That's three courses. With one meal a day those could manage me three days, and then I'd have done something to deserve food.

R: W-what?

Z: Unless you all didn't leave the corpses.

X: Of course they didn't. Otherwise we would've spotted them.

A: What about right now?

System: Well, we haven't cleared the bodies. Why would we? We removed the letters tho.

Z: Good enough for me.

Y: You're disgusting.

Z starts eating human flesh right infront of everyone.

R: You're truly sick. What kind of idiot are you. You'd kill us for food wouldn't you. Maybe you killed them.

Z: You're just mad the rest of you are insignificant, which means you have fallen behind on this experiment.

R gets mad and punches Z as hard as he can.

Z: You know, that hurt.

System: Enough. Listen up. Everybody stay in the center of the building.

The ground moves up.

1: Welcome up here, I am one, and I am a worker, or who you all know as system.

2: I am two, who you also know as system.

3: I am three, who you also know as system.

4: I am 4, the caretaker of A, five is the caretaker of B, etc. There is 29 workers, but also robots who are designed perfectly, so you all can't rebel.

E: What about the caretaker of S.

1: Well, I used to be the caretaker of S, but the boss was happy with the results, so my position is higher now.

E: I don't mean that. Shouldn't there be 25 of you?

2. The rest are right there.

2 points at dead corpses.

Z: Mind if I take them back to my room?

3: Why not?

R: So anyways punks, what are we doing up here?

21: Shut up. Stop trying to act tough.

1: Anyways, follow your respective caretakers. You can add the number of the placement of your letter of the alphabet with 3 right?

X: And what if we couldn't?

27: I'd shoot you right now if my life wasn't at risk. Anyways, I'm your caretaker. Just follow me.

R: So my caretaker is 21? Not like it matters.

21 and R enter a room with a table and 2 chairs.

21: Take a seat, go ahead.

R: I'd prefer standing.

21: Very well then.

They both decide to stand up.

21: So, from what I've seen from you, you are a person who can't control their anger, but disguises that by trying to be a person who sounds cool instead of being cool. Basically the opposite of a normal thug.

R: That's not true, I'm just strong.

21: We're an organization who has done a background check on everyone. You really think you can fool us? You always had a problem with your anger as a child, so you try to act insane to hide that you're insane. See how stupid your act is?

R: Again, that's not true.

21: Fine, even without the background check I can still determine that my statement is true, because you acted normal with N.

R: Alright fine, I get angered easily. Happy?

21: I'm not satisfied yet. The reason you are angry is because your father was a drug addict, who would come home every night angry, so your mother had no choice but to divorce him and take custody of you. But then, when she felt you all had a happy life, she expected more from you, she expected perfection. But she didn't really care about you. She wanted to convince herself that the divorce was a good thing by you being better. But you just couldn't, so then you just kept being agressive on purpose, in hopes that your mother would also leave you if you acted the same as your father, and it worked, but then, you lost control of the agression, and it became a part of you. Does that sum it up?

R: Yeah, you're correct. It does.

21: So you admit it? Well I am more than satisfied now. Why do you think I chose you.

R: I'm guessing that because you can work with my anger. A normal person wouldn't adopt me. But you did.

21: Perfect, so I'm guessing that you understand right? Our training will be turning your anger into a weapon that I can use. You're special.

R: Not compared to the others. If we're all special, no one is.

21: You really had to ruin the moment with that last sentence. Whatever, I'll be waiting for you. Don't take too long.

21 leaves the room, and R is left there alone. He bursts into tears...

1: Why the hell did you leave him alone.

21: A huge part in his childhood was abandonment. It's not like he can do anything. We got the cameras.

1: You're doing a great job.

Suddently R stops crying.

R: I... don't know. Am I fine here? Or do I need the company of anyone. What happenes if I stay here? I mean... I got picked up again didn't I? But was it worse or better? PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME! HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!

1: He is going insane.

21: Just let it happen.

1: S never went insane!

21: Maybe from the outside. You have to be insane to be able to do something like that. I'm just enjoying perfection. I have high hopes for this R.

1: That's good to hear, just careful he doesn't die.

R gets out of the room.

21: Took you long enough. I wouldn't leave you though, so don't worry.

R: I actually needed this. Thank you...
