Atlas didn't make any sound so as not to draw attention to himself.
He silently listened in as Aveline continued to speak.
"It was by chance I saw her at Zara's house. They were arguing. Zara couldn't fathom why she wouldn't let go of the fact her daughter was responsible for her daughter's death. Maybe not completely, but you get what I mean. They were fighting, and I came in to confront Zara about her involvement in my suffering. Zara attacked me. She held me in a chokehold."
Atlas balled his fist.
"We were at the top of the staircase. She could have easily pushed me down. But your grandmother, even though she hated me, came to my rescue."
His nose flared.
"A tussle began, and your grandmother pushed Zara down the stairs. She died right on the spot." Aveline's eyes watered as she took a second to regulate her emotions that were all-over the place.
Atlas continued to listen without making known his presence.
