Aveline opened her eyes, and it was freeing.
"Ave? Baby it's me."
She smiled even before her blurry vision cleared. "Meredith? Is it really you?"
"Of course it is. I'm so happy you're fi–" she couldn't complete her words as she burst into tears.
They hugged, and it gave her a bit of relief. But that relief lasted only a few seconds after they separated.
"I feel fine," Aveline said.
"I know, baby. The doctor says yours was a miracle."
"Miracle?" She shook her head. "It wasn't that. Nadia. She covered my body with her body before the car hit the street lamp. Where is she? I need to thank her."
"Oh Ave!" Meredith burst into tears again.
"I don't understand. Why are you crying? What is it?"
A knock on the door lifted her head up. The curtains swept to the side, and she saw Sloane walk in.
"Sloane? How are you here?" She questioned in a confused voice, wondering how she had gotten there.
