Chapter 4 - 300

"None of your damn business!" Ding Siyao shot back without the slightest politeness, then immediately turned his back on An Ze and strode straight toward the sea of corpses ahead.

Every soldier he passed snapped to attention, eyes filled with awe and reverence, saluting in perfect unison.

A member of the Tiger Fang Team—that was no ordinary person!

An Ze hadn't even finished trembling with rage from Ding Siyao's blunt retort when he saw his own troops saluting the man. A surge of fury exploded straight to the top of his skull.

"Stop right there!" An Ze stepped directly into Ding Siyao's path. "By the authority of a Major General, I order you—tell me what the hell happened to these corpses!"

Ding Siyao was in a hurry to find Chu Han; he had zero patience for An Ze. He merely sneered, reached out, and with a loud smack shoved the man aside. As he kept walking, he tossed back coldly:

"You have no right to question anything about the Tiger Fang Team."

An Ze was pushed aside like trash—his pride and dignity utterly shattered. Yet aside from nearly having a stroke from pure anger, there was nothing he could do. Ding Siyao was right: he had zero authority to interrogate anyone from any team with the word "Fang" in its name!

Ding Siyao reached the front. Staring at the endless field of bodies, he didn't even know where to step. The entire street was a wasteland of corpses lying flat in every direction. A wave of worry and regret crashed over him.

Is Chu Han dead?

Yeah… Ding Siyao gave a bitter laugh. The guilt toward Chu Han surged to its peak once more. Not only had he failed to protect Chu Han's mother, but he hadn't even been able to help at the critical moment. Facing five thousand zombies and a hundred mutants—how could Chu Han possibly still be alive?

Li Yi and Wei An stood frozen, staring at the sudden arrival of real military forces. Helicopters, proper uniforms, actual ranks—these couldn't be the fake army, right? But the expressions on both their faces were priceless. They had seen every second of An Ze nearly tripping and falling on his face the moment he stepped out. The mountain of corpses was shocking, sure… but a genuine Major General getting scared like that?

Real Major General or fake?

The clear distrust in their eyes did not escape An Ze. A fresh wave of humiliation hit him. He couldn't do anything to Ding Siyao, but these two beggars? He could still deal with them!

"What are you two doing here? Situation report!" An Ze demanded, arrogance dripping from every word as he vented his rage on Li Yi and Wei An.

Li Yi simply frowned and turned his face away. He couldn't be bothered.

Wei An's reaction was almost identical, only more openly emotional. She didn't even glance at An Ze; her eyes stayed locked on the street ahead. The blazing helicopter lights had turned the entire road into daylight. She was searching for Chu Han. She refused to believe he was dead.

"I'm talking to you! You want to die?!" Seeing himself being completely ignored, An Ze felt his dignity had been trampled. A full Major General—ignored by two filthy beggars?!

Just as An Ze, seething with fury, stepped forward to grab the pair and teach them a lesson, an ice-cold voice suddenly rang out behind him—

"Get out of the way. Don't block the road."

The instant that voice sounded, Ding Siyao whipped around. His eyes lit up with wild joy as he stared at the figure standing at the far end of the street.

Chu Han… he's alive?!

Thank God!

The pure relief on Ding Siyao's face was so obvious that the surrounding soldiers—who had been silent the entire time—looked utterly confused. Every single one of them turned to stare at the sudden newcomer.

Who is this guy?

At this moment, Chu Han was soaked from head to toe, clothes torn and ragged, every inch of him drenched in black blood. It looked as if he had just crawled out of the corpse-strewn street. Several deep gashes ran across his arms and neck, still oozing fresh red blood—clear proof of a brutal, life-or-death fight.

Yet despite his injuries, his spine remained perfectly straight. The way he stood there motionless sent a jolt through every soldier present. These were all battle-hardened veterans who had fought for their lives on the front lines. The moment they saw Chu Han like this, they all instantly understood:

This man… was definitely not simple.

Li Yi and Wei An both stared at Chu Han in joyous disbelief. They had known he wouldn't die, but why was he coming from that direction? Where had he just gone?

Hearing Chu Han's completely rude words, An Ze froze for a second. A ridiculous surge of disbelief rose inside him. Today was turning out to be truly entertaining—he'd actually run into so many arrogant pricks. First, those two beggars dared to ignore him, and now someone was straight-up telling him to "get lost"?!

He spun around and let his eyes rake shamelessly up and down the filthy, blood-drenched figure standing in front of him. A cold sneer curled on An Ze's lips. Just as he opened his mouth to speak—

Smack!

Chu Han walked straight past him without sparing a single glance. His footsteps were steady and unyielding. His shoulder slammed hard into An Ze, smearing a huge patch of dirty black filth across the Major General's spotless uniform. The impact sent An Ze staggering backward several clumsy steps—pa-ta, pa-ta—nearly losing his balance and falling flat on his ass!

After brushing past, Chu Han headed directly for the raised platform at the far end of the street—where his mother still lay motionless.

Once he regained his footing, An Ze stared at Chu Han's retreat in utter shock, disbelief flashing wildly in his eyes. This guy actually dared to ram into him? And he had dirtied his pristine Major General's uniform!

Even Ding Siyao had only shoved him aside, yet this filthy bastard… actually dared to collide with him head-on?!

"Motherfucker!" An Ze roared in fury and immediately stormed after Chu Han.

By now, Chu Han had already reached his mother. His mother—nothing but skin and bones—lay with her eyes tightly closed. He drew in a deep breath, then bent both knees—

Thud!

He slammed down onto the ground in a heavy kneel!

After confirming that not a single soul was left alive following the chaotic battle, he had gone back inside Chenxing one more time and slaughtered every last remaining researcher before returning.

In this battle, he had personally killed three thousand zombies, more than eighty mutants, and an entire group of inhuman researchers. The remaining two thousand-plus zombies and twenty mutants had torn each other apart in the frenzy. That sudden downpour had been the real MVP—without it, there was no way he could have killed so many with his current strength. Even with heaven's help, he had still taken heavy injuries.

Dozens of gashes covered his body, blood still flowing freely.

Yet at this moment, Chu Han felt that compared to what his mother had suffered, his own wounds were utterly insignificant. No matter how many zombies and mutants he slaughtered, even if he blew the entire Chenxing base to hell, it would never be enough to make up for it.

Kneeling was the only thing he could do. Nothing else came to mind that could make him feel even slightly better.

Li Yi, the man who rarely showed emotion, couldn't bear to watch and turned his face away.

Wei An had already collapsed into tears beside him. She frantically ripped long strips from her clothes, kneeling right next to Chu Han as she desperately wiped the blood and filth from his body. She had no idea what else she could do in this moment, and she had no clue how to comfort him.

An Ze didn't give a damn what Chu Han was doing. The second he saw him kneeling, only one thought burned in his mind—to grab this bastard who had told him to scram, dared to slam into him, and ruined his uniform, then beat him senseless!

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Heavy footsteps rang out behind Chu Han, accompanied by An Ze's arrogant, furious roar:

"You're fucking looking to die!"
