Haji and Lola raised their brows, amazed—Lola especially—at how fast Atlas concluded things even before they told him.
Lola smiled, eyes twinkling at her husband. But before she could get distracted, Haji spoke.
"He's right," Haji said, tapping his index finger against the table to get Lola's attention. "These underground passages aren't safe to use if you don't know the routes or what lies inside them. Landmines aside — which could detonate the moment you step on one—there are traps down there that can kill you in all sorts of ways."
"All I'm saying is, taking this route is just as dangerous, or rather, even more dangerous than waltzing into the main city on a red carpet," he added sarcastically. "At least above ground, you'd last longer in a crossfire than getting buried alive in the underground tunnels."
Allen's mouth formed an O-shape, brows rising as he looked at Haji. "But you are familiar with these underground routes, aren't you?"
