"What's going on over there?"
Lola's voice cut through the mild chaos in the area, distracting both Haji and Slater mid-conversation. Even the twins — who had been completely absorbed in their cats — froze and turned toward where Lola was looking. Their little brows furrowed in confusion, and they tilted their heads to the side in unison like curious ducklings.
On the opposite side of the garden, groups of people — at least two clusters, each with no fewer than five members — were heading in the same direction with hurried strides.
The Zorken Manor was enormous, enough to give Atlas and his family as much privacy as possible despite the constant security presence. Guards from different circles kept a perimeter around the entire estate. Still, they stayed far enough not to intrude on their family life. Only Izu's team remained close to the family's wing, which was why Lola could walk freely without feeling scrutinized.
