Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE :Betrayal

It was winter that season. Pandemonium broke out from the Firecrest clan. Something abominable has been committed. Queen Luna, the goddess of the moon and ice was found breaking the sacred oath.

The look of betrayal on his face when the alpha king entered into her chamber made her tremble hard within her furry bed. His huge body made his shadow much more intimidating than even the midwives cowered in fear. None was courageous to raise their face upward. He was angry and his deep voice could split a heavy rock into two. Rodin growled in rage and might. His eyes widened in disbelief when he heard soft purrs coming from the fur coated cloth.

"My king, please.. don't " Queen Luna begged. Leaning close to the cribs in protection of her children. He couldn't control his wolf in him and grunted loudly. Destroying everything in front of him. The Midwives all ran out before they lost their life in the scuffle.

"How could you betray me ? Your clan, your people. The sacred oath!!!" Rodin growled, making Luna sprawled up from the bed, took her kids and hid behind the cupboard. The shrieking cry from her twin made him more furious. He took every piece of furniture in front of him out of his way.

"I didn't know…Rodin. I didn't want this to happen. Please spare our lives. " Luna begged almost in tears behind the cupboard. This made him turn swiftly when he located her through her voice.

"You broke the sacred oath. You had a relationship with a human. A HUMAN !!!" Rodin seethed in anger and ripped the cupboard out of its position and swung it afar off. Colliding with the door and shredding into pieces. Luna was frightened to the maximum. She was scared and was uncertain about what he was going to do with her cubs. One thing was certain about her abominable act and it was Death. The Cubs cried in fear and this made their situation worse. Luna pleaded with tears streaming down her eyes. Clutching hard to her cubs. Anything she had wanted was for them to survive the night.

Rodin in his ferocious form took the cubs from her forcefully, their cries pierced through every cracked wall in the room. He wasn't going to spare them as it had been a rule since old times that wolves and humans are enemies and anyone caught or practicing that outrageous custom must be killed . Rodin felt hurt greatly that his Queen, his wife and mate had betrayed him for a measly human. The most hated creatures still exist.

"I am going to kill them and make you watch. You will know what it feels like to be hurt. "Rodin replied to her in a wrathful tone, no sense of remorse. Just hate and revenge. Luna could feel it oozing out from him. Her motherly instinct activated. No mother was going to watch her child being killed in front of her. She had detested him for so long and she knew there were very possibilities that he was still going to overpowered her but it was a risk she was willing to take.

Luna growled in anger, unleashing her wolf inside her.She allowed her wolf to take every part of her. The surging mystical energies running through her veins. Luna felt powerful as she transformed. Bones break, flesh teared. This wasn't painful this time. It was a matter of power and dominance. Anything to protect her cubs.

"Oh you want to turn against me. You are just my beta and you will have to obey me!!!" Rodin commanded in his wolf tone. A power of dominance that could make any wolf shiver and succumb to his bidding. A deep and powerful voice but this time, Luna was bold enough to resist, something she wouldn't have done.

"It's over Rodin, Give me my cubs or you are going to die by my claws . "Luna spoke in authority. Her wolf groaned deeply and wants to strike. Luna wanted to give him a chance to make things right. But Rodin, a selfish and ruthless king , brutal to his own kins wouldn't hesitate in taking their lives.

Unknown to both of them, a human walked into the room. Luna gasped in shock when she saw her lover and the father of her cubs, holding a rifle gun ,pointing it straight out at Rodin who growled deeply.

"Oh…. What a reunion. The father returns to save the day. "Rodin said from his shoulder. His head titled to the side to see a man ,tall and lean pointing a gun to his head.

"Let them go. This fight is between me and you. The children are not involved. "The Man said with boldness. He was adamant to protect his family even at the risk of his life. He took a full glance at his lover who growled in regret and back to Rodin who had turned to face him, clutching his claws at his kid's throats.

"I can smell your fear. Likewise her too. I must say that you have the courage to be here. Even walking in here must be a feat. My armies must have been a fool to let you enter my territory without being seen."Rodin grinned slightly, hiding the fact that he was annoyed that a measly human could penetrate his fortress without being slaughtered by the gate and then he realised that Luna must have a hand in it and this makes his blood boils. Rodin could feel his fire rage boiling hard to burst out.

"I said, let them go! Or I blow up your monstrous head. Luna, get ready!!" The Man called out and released several bullets at him but swiftly as Rodin was,he dodged them effortlessly and Luna used the opportunity to spring forth and take her cubs from his grip. She ran to the door hoping he followed her but to her dismay, Rodin got to him and pulled him from the ground, strangling his neck tightly.

Luna howled his name. This made Rodin spiteful. Even in his death, she still longed after him. Rodin clenched his jaw in revenge and snapped his neck. Right in front of her. An evil smile plastered on his face and this made her wolf growling angrily.

He dropped his lifeless body to the ground and stumped on it with his leg, shredding his body into pieces. Luna was enraged and wanted to attack but her cubs were now her priority. With tears and anger, Luna ran out of the room as fast as she could. As she ran along the way. Luna noticed that all her kins were put to sleep and most subdued with her a deadly poison gotten from a flower called Wolfsbane. A lethal flower that affects them as werewolves. She knew that this was David's doings to protect them. She ran out of the fortress,a place she was once called home but truly , it was never her home.

Without looking back, Luna ran far into the forest, deep inside the thick snows basking at her white furs. The thick snow concealed her scent and covered her tracks .It was hard for Rodin to track her . She is a goddess of the moon and her strength and powers were sourced from the moon. The moon was in full bloom and this was an advantage to overpowered him and she might have a chance to defeat him. Her powers ran through her veins and her eyes glowed blue. Her vision was heightened, so was her scent. She was ready to fight.

Luna had run deep into the forest for a while and noticed that she wasn't being followed . She was tired and hid behind a big tree trunk. A big hollow under the tree. Luna was exhausted and the snows were heavy for her to carry her cubs. She dropped them by her side and used her white furs to make them warm. They cuddled close to her and before they knew it,they were fast asleep. Even Luna couldn't resist the need to sleep. She shut her eyes for a quick slumber but her guards weren't down. Her ears were sharp as a knife, ready to strike and retaliate.

Soon after the snow storm subsided and the whole forest was calm and cold. This gave an upper hand to Rodin who continued the search for them. He ran far until he was able to pick up her scent. With a devilish grin, he ran with speed towards the direction.

Luna was still fast asleep when she got a tap and she opened her eyes to see David beside her. She was in disbelief and called out his name. His eyes softened when he saw how hurt she felt. He apologised severally and urged her to leave.

"You need to leave here, He is coming for you. Leave now. "David warned and urged her to stand up.

"David. David…I am scared. " Luna cried out. He pulled her for a hug and took hold of his twin warmly. David looked at them as they purred softly in their sleep. He kissed them on their heads and handed them to their mother. David smiled and bade them goodbye as he slowly disappeared. Luna jolted up from her slumber to see what it was a dream. She glanced at her cubs who were still asleep. Luna knew that that was not just merely a dream but a warning. With one swift action, Luna took her cubs and ran out of the tree ,heading to the river.

Rodin got to the tree but they were already gone. In anger, he smited the tree to the ground. He was definitely pissed and took up her scent again. Rodin clasped his hand and took the pursuit.

Luna ran with all her might. She picked up his scent and knew that he was getting unto them. She ran toward the iced river and ran through it. Then in front of her, Rodin spranged forth stopping her midway. Luna gasped in shock and quivered. His demeaning look as he panted hard made her cowered. Her cubs cried heavily because they even felt the rage emitting from his body.

"Where do you think you are going? I haven't done what I intended to do to you. You think you can run from me. No one can run from Rodin the destroyer. I am the son of Maverick the human slayer and no one can break out from the Firecrest clan unless I kill them!!!" Rodin roared at the top of his voice, sending crackles to the ice on the top of the water. Luna retreated back with her cubs in her mouth. She needed to distract him lest they sink into the river.

"Rodin, you need to stop this you have taken enough from me. You killed my entire tribe and took me hostage. I married you because I had no choice. You killed my love. You want to take my kids from me? This time I won't let you. " Luna growled through her wolf sense and pounced on him. They both collided to the floor breaking the ice on the river and they fall into it. Luna had the upper hand because she can swim. They both entered into the water and struggled to swim further. It was a big feat for Luna to glide through the masses of ice and her cubs in her mouth. She tried her best to swim to the other side when Rodin was fast enough to hold her legs and pulled her down. Letting one of her cub fall off her grip and the waves took it away. Luna howled in pain when the water took her cub away. There was no way she could save it. Dejected and tired, Luna came out of the river and ran staggeringly into the woods with her cub. The only one surviving.

Rodin couldn't pull through as the heavy wave washed him afar. Luna howled in pain and collapsed on the floor. Her cub was visibly tired and fragile to the cold. Blood gushed out from her stomach. Rodin had a chance to dismantle her before he was washed away.

Life was slowly seeping out of her. Her eyes were heavy and her heart was bleeding. She wasn't able to protect her children. Luna blamed herself for everything. She tried to stand up but her weak legs couldn't support her heavy body. Her cub was weak and her breath was unsteady. She picked her up and tried to save her even though it was the last thing she could do before she died.

Luckily , Luna found a tree trunk. A shallow hollow under the tree root. It wasn't big enough to accommodate her so she placed her cub inside. Luna had to sacrifice her mystical power of the moon to save her daughter. She placed her paw on her head and a glowing light emitted from her body, making her fur glow and eyes turned bright blue. All these energies left her and passed into her daughter's body. The cub purred softly and this put her mind to rest that she would be alright.

Luna left that spot and hid behind the trees to see if the spirit of the moon would send a helper to her daughter. She had prayed earnestly for that helper. As she watched intensely, her body gave way and no matter how she tried to fight to open her eyes. Her eyes closed even before a stranger walked to the tree stump and took the young cub away.
