Chapter 126 - The Fool's Consideration

Him?

So it's a man... Ah right I forgot to assign roles to my believers. I'll work on it after the gathering... Selina suddenly recalled something on a whim.

"I currently do not know who she is as of the moment. However, I have the means to establish connections with her. My involvement with this gathering and your existence is currently unbeknownst to her."

I guess it's not surprising for her to feel her friend as a completely person... Klein muttered inwardly before saying, "What was her name?"

"Linda had assumed another identity." said Selina with half-truth.

As of the moment, she couldn't afford to disclose her new identity. She have colleagues, friends, and a comfort life away from danger.

It's uncertain whether or not involving that identity with the great Mr. Fool is safe. So for precaution, she used her earth name in order to isolate herself as the officer Selina.

This is where her Goddess role of the Child of God's faction does the heavy lifting.

Linda... That's her name? And she assumed another identity... Klein wasn't least bit relieved hearing the situation.

After ruminating his next action. He asked, "What location do you propose for their meeting?"

Selina was already prepared to say, "In Tingen, West Borough. Pua Doe's Cafe Shop."

Isn't that where we searched for the whereabouts of Huddsman's accomplice? Klein was quick to recall. He didn't bother pressing it as he added.

"And when will they meet?"

"Wednesday this week." Selina said calmly.

The Fool Klein quietly settled his emotions of knowing another like him is around. He thought for nearly twenty seconds before saying:

"That can be done... But Miss Lovers. Whatever happens, I will held you accountable for the meeting."

He's warning her this in case of this interaction ending in a brawl. Of course he didn't ruled out the possibility that the other party is friendly, but he's cautious enough to consider different chances.

Selina confidently nodded. "I will."

It's just me after all!

"I will consider your request. However, one last thing."

Hmm? Selina perked up. "What is it your grace?"

Grace... Klein's mouth twitched. "Do not expose the existence of transmigrators to anyone. As you may already aware. That transmigrator have entrusted you her safety. Respect it."

Selina felt Mr. Fool's tone akin to being instructed by her higher-ups. Since she doesn't intend to anyway, it wasn't difficult for her nod and agree.

"Alright. If that's all then you may return to your seat." Klein waved his hand off, slightly above the armrest. Signaling the ending of the exchange.

The tension from Miss Lovers had subsided... That's a relief. So it wasn't too much of an issue... Audrey nodded indiscernibly while maintaining a state.

Alger could not help but want to be part of the information circulating among the two. From a god to a mortal, it is almost always bound to be something related to secrets.

What could this be? Miss Lovers is more informed than I am over the scriptures of the Gods? What is it that only she and Mr. Fool can discuss? For the past few minutes, he was considering which of his possessions should he offer in exchange for the valuable information.

"You have my gratitude Mr. Fool." Selina's voice finally turns into the standard Loenese. Following that, she lifted up her skirt slightly and performed a courtesy.

Klein gestured for her to sit down.

Audrey failed to contain her curiosity and blatantly asked Selina, "Miss Lovers. How much can I offer in exchange for the information you have told Mr. Fool? I'm willing to spend any amount!"

As a mysticism hobbyist and fond of mysteries. She marveled at the matter seemingly only within the two.

It's not fair for Miss Lovers to not share such an information for the rest of us! We're a member!

Before replying. Selina glanced at The Fool from the seat of honor. His silence speaks volume for what to answer.

"I'm sorry..." Selina was sincere on her apology. "But don't be disheartened. It only involves a trivial dispute among my allies that I need Mr. Fool's insight of."

Even then. Audrey felt under the weather for being casted.

"Alright." her tone had a bit of noticeable disappointment.

She wasn't the only one who's dispirited for being isolated. Alger, who's excitement was kindled when Audrey asked in his stead, settled gloomily on his seat.

A dispute? Why would you ask Mr. Fool for such a trivial matter when I can give you an advice as well? To be putting a God in such a dispensable issue... Miss Lovers is hiding something...

He thought, then followed up Audrey's question. "If it doesn't bother you. I suggest asking our advice for that matter instead of requiring Mr. Fool. Or perhaps, you do not deem our qualities to be worth considering?"

Selina felt her heart tightened. She looked at Audrey who had mixed emotions while facing her and to The Fool again only to be met with silence.

It's alright... That was only meant for one time anyway... she secretly sighed and nodded. "I deeply apologize for my inconsideration... I do think of any of you to be incapable. Please forgive me."

She stood up and slightly held up her skirt to bow.

I'm surprised Mr. Hanged Man. Do you perhaps have a nature of being a professional martyr? Klein couldn't quite put a finger on Hanged Man's character.

But regardless. He was actually satisfied by how Hanged Man handled this tilt on the social circle. Hence, he watched the table calmly.

On the other hand. Audrey gasped inwardly, witnessing her first and currently only female member bowing down.

Miss Lovers didn't do any wrong thing. If we desire to have personal exchange with Mr. Fool, shouldn't it be normal?

Then suddenly, it occurred to her what presence they're in. A God is at the table overseeing the gathering. He generally was calm, relaxed. However, it is foolish to ever belittle Mr. Fool.

Through this train of thought. All Audrey could do was really to just accept the forgiveness silently.

Amid this. Alger did not initiate the act of sparing. He turned and left it for Mr. Fool to decided.

"You may seat." Klein told Selina as he gestured for the chair.

"You are full of surprises Miss Lovers. For once, I'll overlook this."

Selina heaved a sigh of relief before musing. But it actually involves a very mysterious matter of transmigrators...Haaah, well. I'm thankful that Mr. Fool went along...

With that settled. Audrey quickly changed the topic to lighten the mood of the table.

"I have heard from a friend that some issues rose after the Milo Incident."

That friend is my father! she quietly praised Earl Hall's ability to seek information from his circles and connections. Her intention for saying this was to make the Tarot Club aware of the situation outside of the cities, specifically Miss Lovers.

"The House of Commons found that secret official forces are extremely scarce outside of city borders. Although this is has valid reasons due to statistical populations. This also raised concerns regarding the brewing of different cults that might exploit this weakness, leading to more casualties." Audrey's thoughts was still clear of her father's disclosure.

"What I mean by casualties is that when putting Miss Lover's situation back in Milo. A descent could occur without anyone suspecting."

"Milo is unexpected and isolated." Alger calmly refuted. "Its geographic location made it a hotspot for travelers and letters across the Sonia Island. That is why it is called a postal town in the past before the steam train pioneered by Roselle.

"It is rural and at the end of the Tussock River. The distance to travel between Tingen and there is nearly half a day. Which is why it likely didn't occurred to the churches that this town was attacked."

Selina agreed to this. If it were not for the distance, she wouldn't have considered taking a swim at the Tussock River and hope to be washed ashore.

Seriously, I think Milo was the only one to have experienced this as in Winter County. There are towns there that are clustered into a short distance...

"Although that is correct. Milo isn't the only one was affected." Audrey shook her head slowly.

"There are many villages and towns that was subjected into an invasion. Luckily, the churches quickly caught on. However others were a bit late that when they arrived, many inhabitants have gone missing."

Alger said with mild interest, "How did they propose to fix this issue?"

Audrey tried her best not to soil the image of the parliaments. "The House of Commons have already reached the constables of Tingen and many associating towns for this issue."

"Heh." Alger sneered. "Do you think the other affiliated members wouldn't seize the opportunity to challenge the integrity of the ruling system?

"I wouldn't say that the House of Commons would idle this issue throughout, but the fact that there's still a domestic disputes ongoing in the court. I think the opposing force will have a field day because of this issue."

Domestic disputes... I can vaguely remember Selina's father telling this during one of their dinner nights... Selina tried to dig deeper into her general knowledge of the world.

This domestic dispute surfaced after the emergence of the New party, formed mainly by the capitalists. Due to this conflict, it put many bills on hold, including the raising of worker salary, the improvement of working hours, and revising of the Poor Law.

"They will press them." Alger remarked.

Audrey pursed her lips. Due to what her father theorized when he was telling her the results of her help. She couldn't make a proper feedback.

Seeing that Miss Justice didn't add on. Alger thought and looked towards the seat of honor at the long bronze table.

"Honorable Mr. Fool, I'd like to ask if the True Creator's Holy Residence that the Aurora Order advocates is the legendary Forsaken Land of the Gods?"

Forsaken Land of the Gods? Selina ruminated the title.

Forsaken Land of the Gods? I have only seen that term once in Roselle's diary... It might be in the secret dockets of the Nighthawks, but it isn't something I can know of currently... How do you want me to answer? Klein nearly twitched the corner of his lips.

He considered it for a while then he replied in a calm tone, "This is not something you should know now."

Alger felt his heart tighten, and he immediately lowered his head and replied, "Please forgive me for overstepping my boundaries."

Audrey wanted to ask about the Forsaken Land of the Gods but she also gave up the thought when she heard that.

In the lofty divine hall above the gray fog, silence suddenly filled the air.

At that moment, Audrey felt that she should say something.

"Mr. Fool, if—and I'm saying if—I have the opportunity to join another organization, such as the Psychology Alchemists, is it permitted?"

The Fool Klein maintained his posture of leaning backward as he said with a chuckle, "That is no problem. My requirement is that the existence of the Tarot Club is not to be exposed."

"If you become a member of another organization, the materials and information you can use for exchange will also increase."

After saying that, he suddenly recalled that he was also a member of another organization. He was a real Nighthawk while The Lovers was most likely apart of another secret organization and The Hanged Man seems to be related to the Church of the Lord of Storms.

Would my Tarot Club be the so-called Rebels Alliance? Traitor Gathering? Klein was drowned in deep thoughts.

That's good... Selina thought of her own affiliation in relief.

She was worried that because of her plan to associate The Lover's identity with The Child of God's believers. It would compromise her ability to attend the Tarot Club gathering. Which is why she refers to them as allies instead of direct subordinates.

I can command Yesir and the others as Mrs. White and also advise them. So in a way, I guess I'm a distant member... I wonder what to call them. Hmm... have they finally made up a name for their company?

"I understand now." Audrey was excited but she immediately thought of a question, "Mr. Fool, if I found a suitable gentleman or lady for this gathering, could I guide them to join? How do I do that?"

Alger thought and asked, "Mr. Fool, what is the requirement to be a member of this gathering? How do we determine?"

Ambitious, ethical, cultured, disciplined... Four words popped into Klein's head instantly.

He maintained his silence for a few seconds and only spoke when Justice and Hanged Man appeared a little uneasy.

"You can inform me here of people who you find suitable. I will decide if they will join us. Before that, you can't give any hint that would cause the secret of the Tarot Club's existence to be exposed. You must remember, to non-Gathering members..."

Klein paused and said in a heavy voice, "You must not speak my name without my permission."
