Andria's POV
Allison and I reached the chemistry lab breathless.
The chemistry lab smelled exactly the way it should. Immediately, the sharp smell of ethanol hit my nose, and I was weirdly excited.
We both hesitated before walking into the classroom.
We hurriedly walked past, trying to avoid Miss Hale's eyes, but when Miss Hale's sharp eyes landed on us, her gaze flicked to the clock on the wall immediately.
"You're late," she said flatly, causing us to stop dead in our tracks.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," Allison began quickly. "There was a…"
"Save it." Miss Hale stepped out fully, folding her arms. "Both of you, wait outside."
Today was about to be the worst day in school, and it was just the first day of the academic year.
A few students inside snickered. I caught Liara's gaze through the glass panel, her mouth twisted in a mocking smirk.
We stepped aside obediently. Miss Hale held our gaze for a long time.
Miss Hale lowered her voice, but not enough.
