Chapter 69 - Chapter 68 — The Realm That Watches Itself

The void above Tian Yuan's divine realm shimmered faintly like a golden ocean turned upside down. Countless runes floated within the clouds — living, breathing scripts that pulsed with celestial intent. Each rune was a fragment of Tian Yuan's divine consciousness, a piece of his will embedded into the very structure of his world.

The Golden Dragon, Yulong, slumbered coiled around the Sun Pillar at the center of the realm, his scales glinting like burning coins. Streams of divine mist flowed around him — the essence of creation that Tian Yuan used to build this paradise of serenity and danger. Below the dragon's resting form lay vast plains dotted with immortal bamboo forests, lakes that mirrored stars instead of moons, and spirit mountains that seemed to hum with the sound of prayers.

Peace reigned. But peace, as Tian Yuan knew, was a deceptive stillness — a lull before a cosmic ripple.

Far beyond his divine horizon, across the endless expanse separating the higher heavens, chaos burned.

The Celestial Alliance of Nine Suns was at war with the Shattered Abyssal Realm. Two forces of near-equal power, both wielding ancient laws and divine arrays that could erase entire sects from existence. Their clash shook not only the upper heavens but also the fabric of other realms. The vibrations of their war rippled through the planes — until one crack split the divine veil apart.

Through that rupture, a single figure fell — broken, burnt, and bloodied.

His name was Lord Xuan Wuji, the ruler of the Abyssal Realm of the Thousand Moons. Once a being whose authority could command stars to kneel, he was now nothing more than a torn fragment of his former majesty. His long robe was shredded, the black mist of his domain leaking out like smoke from a cracked jar. He had escaped death, but only barely.

Behind him, the light of the Nine Suns blazed — a burning spear of divine destruction chasing him across the boundaries of realms. He had only one instinct left: to run. To survive.

As his body tore through the veil of planes, he activated the last formation mark embedded in his soul — the Abyssal Void Step, a forbidden teleportation art meant to hide one's existence from divine senses. It worked… but imperfectly. His divine essence collapsed as he crossed the final veil and—

He landed.

Or rather, he fell — crashing into a realm whose laws were so dense, so ancient, that they instantly rejected him. His divine body hit an invisible wall and shattered. Only his spirit form, wrapped in a shredded cocoon of black light, remained intact.

"What— what kind of place is this?" he gasped, eyes wide. "The pressure… it's like the heavens themselves are watching me."

He raised his trembling hand.

But even that simple motion sent ripples through the ground beneath him — as if the realm itself recognized that he didn't belong.

He had accidentally stepped into the realm of Tian Yuan — The Farmer God.

At that moment, within the Hall of Seasons, Tian Yuan was meditating before the Celestial Tree. The air shimmered with divine calm, and the voices of a thousand birds echoed faintly. Yet in the middle of his cultivation, a slight distortion rippled through the roots of his realm.

His eyes opened slowly — twin galaxies reflecting ancient patience.

"…Someone dares trespass into my soil?" His voice was calm, yet the entire hall shuddered.

Golden mist swirled around him as Yulong, the dragon, stirred from his slumber.

"Master," the dragon's deep voice resonated across the sky, "there is disturbance within the western field. The intruder bears Abyssal energy — dark, corrupted. Do you wish me to erase it?"

Tian Yuan stood, his aura blending serenity and judgment. "No," he murmured. "Let the realm test him first."

With a wave of his hand, the ground below began to shift. The soil twisted, forming an endless labyrinth of mirrored plains, shifting forests, and countless illusions.

His formation — the Reflection of Seasons, one of his oldest and most advanced defenses — awakened.

Xuan Wuji stumbled forward, panting. The air was heavy with spiritual energy — so dense it felt alive.

Every breath he took filled him with power, but also made his body ache. The realm's laws were foreign, rejecting his presence. He summoned his divine sense to scan the surroundings… and froze.

The world around him was looping — repeating endlessly.

A single step forward, and he found himself in the same bamboo forest. Another step — the same river, the same stones, the same sound of wind.

"…An illusion?" he whispered. "No… this is something else. The entire realm is watching me."

He raised his right hand and gathered the remnant of his abyssal law. A black vortex swirled, and he fired it into the distance. The energy flew for a moment — before curving back and striking him in the chest.

Blood splattered on the ethereal grass.

"Tch…" He wiped his mouth. "A self-reflecting array. Whoever designed this… is no ordinary deity."

He tried again — this time summoning a divine token that shimmered with an ancient sigil. The moment he activated it, the sigil cracked and dissolved.

The realm denied even the use of external divine tools.

From high above, Tian Yuan watched — his expression unreadable.

"His divine essence burns with war and blood," Tian Yuan murmured. "He must have escaped from conflict."

Yulong lowered his head slightly. "Shall I finish him, Master?"

Tian Yuan smiled faintly. "No. Every seed that enters my soil must prove whether it bears fruit or poison."

He stretched his hand, and instantly, the realm responded.

Lightning rivers appeared across the sky, coiling like serpents. Trees turned to crystalline jade. From the mountains, beasts made of mist began to march — each carrying fragments of his will.

To the intruder, it was a nightmare.

To the realm, it was self-defense.

Xuan Wuji roared as lightning struck near him. His form flickered — shifting between spirit and shadow.

"Show yourself, coward!" he shouted into the heavens. "You hide behind arrays and illusions— come face me if you dare!"

In answer, the clouds parted — revealing a single drop of rain descending toward him.

When it touched the ground, it rippled.

The ripple turned to a wave, the wave into a storm, and from the center of it, a figure walked out.

Barefoot. Calm. Carrying a sickle.

Tian Yuan's aura was vast, but not overwhelming — gentle, like the whisper of a breeze over a ripe field. And yet, that gentleness carried the weight of eternity.

Xuan Wuji's knees almost buckled from the pressure.

"You…" he hissed. "You are… the ruler of this place?"

Tian Yuan's voice was quiet. "You bleed on my soil, yet you have not asked permission to enter."

"I— I was chased," Xuan Wuji said through gritted teeth. "If I stayed, I would have perished. I seek only shelter."

Tian Yuan's eyes narrowed slightly. "A warlord asking for shelter from a farmer?"

There was silence. Only the sound of the wind between the jade leaves.

Then Tian Yuan sighed softly. "Very well. The soil judges fairly. If you mean no harm, it will let you live."

He raised his hand, and instantly the ground beneath Xuan Wuji shifted — a mark forming below his feet.

"But," Tian Yuan continued, "if you deceive, the earth will swallow you whole."

The mark glowed — the Seal of Harmony.

For a moment, Xuan Wuji felt peace wash through him. The crushing weight of the realm's law eased. The trees straightened. The wind softened. He bowed slightly, exhausted beyond words.

"Thank you…" he whispered, falling to his knees.

Tian Yuan turned to leave, his golden robes flowing like water.

But as he walked away, he said one last thing — his voice echoing through the realm.

"Rest. Heal. But remember, stranger — this is the land of the Farmer. Here, even peace must be earned."

And so, the first intruder into Tian Yuan's divine realm — a broken god fleeing war — found refuge in the soil of serenity.

But unknown to both of them, the ripples of that entry had already been noticed beyond the divine veil.

The Upper Realms whispered:

"A new power stirs in the forgotten field… The Farmer God shelters a fallen lord."
