Chapter 96 - Unlucky Peter

"ORA ORA ORA!!"

Logan slashed wildly with his claws, but the bastard dodged every strike like it was nothing.

"Take this!"

Colossus threw a haymaker that could level a wall. The shooter sidestepped again; the fist smashed into the floor and left a crater.

"JACKPOT!"

Deadpool unloaded both pistols point-blank.

The shooter drew his blade and bisected every single bullet mid-air.

"Agh damn it, is this guy Vergil or—what the—UWAHH!"

Peter used Deadpool's head as a springboard, launched himself high, grabbed a table with his webs, spun once and hurled it like a meteor.

The shooter sliced the table clean in half—only to see Peter already rocketing in with a flying kick.

He tried to dodge sideways, but Peter twisted mid-air in a perfect 360° spin and slammed his heel straight into the shooter's ribs.

CRACK!

"Nice! That rib-snapping sound is so crisp!" Deadpool cheered as the shooter staggered, clearly in pain.

Peter pressed the attack, fists flying in a blur. The shooter took every hit at first…

But the longer the fight went on, the weirder it felt.

His body was adapting—wounds closing, movements sharpening. He even started dodging some of Peter's punches.

"Colossus!"

"Huff!"

Colossus grabbed Logan like a javelin and hurled him forward.

Logan flew in claws-first. The shooter couldn't react in time; both arms were impaled and shredded in an instant.

Peter slid behind and hammered the shooter's back. Sandwiched between the two, the guy was still insanely tough—actually blocking blows from both sides!

"Something's seriously wrong! He's adapting in real time!" Beast shouted, sweating bullets.

Pietro instantly understood why the shooter's eyes had been able to track him earlier.

This monster had god-tier adaptability—even finding ways to counter a speedster.

"Pew pew pew!"

Deadpool fired again. The shooter casually caught the bullets with one hand and flicked them straight at Logan's eyes.

A bullet to the eye would blind Logan temporarily—disastrous in this fight.

"!!"

Logan sliced the bullets in half with his claws, but the split-second opening was all the shooter needed.

He seized Peter's wrist, yanked hard, and swung the kid like a club into Logan. Both heroes went flying.

"Oh shit, well at least I—"

SHINK!

The combat knife flashed and severed Deadpool's foot clean off.

"…MY TOE!! THAT WAS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING I HAD TO FEED MY DAUGHTER WITH—UWAHH!"

The shooter drew the katana from Deadpool's back and drove it straight through his skull. Deadpool dropped, twitching.

"Oh my sweet baby… I promise I won't spoil the plot, babe… but Lady Death did kiss me once~"

Ignoring Deadpool's delirious rambling, the shooter pulled the second katana and turned toward the remaining mutants.

"SEGA SONIC TEENAGE WARBRAIN WHATEVER—DO YOUR JOB!!"

"No need to tell me!"

A girl burst forward radiating intense heat and tackled the shooter like a missile, sending him flying.

"Good job! Go Super Scott!!"

"Can't be helped… I really hope nobody else gets hurt!"

Scott removed his visor. His eyes blazed crimson.

PEWWWW!

A full-power optic blast ripped toward the shooter.

Just before it hit, the shooter pulled out… something.

"?!"

A strange glass pane. He angled it toward Colossus.

PEWWWW!!

The blast reflected perfectly and punched straight through Colossus's shoulder.

"H-How?! My beams can cut through regular glass! What the hell is he holding?!"

The shooter landed gracefully and pocketed the pane.

Then he grinned—a savage, cruel grin—and his eyes glowed with pure malice.

Suddenly three vials flew through the air and exploded at his feet.

Instantly his entire body was coated in some kind of ultra-adhesive gel, locking him in place.

"Now! Hit him!" Lee shouted.

Web-shooters fired. Someone shot forward at impossible speed.

"UOOOHHHH!!!"

A kick straight to the head.

Left-right punch combo.

And a final earth-shattering kick to the gut.

The shooter spat a huge mouthful of blood from the onslaught.

Peter wound up for the finishing blow—every muscle in his arm bulging.

BANG!

The punch like a cannonball knocked the shooter's hood clean off. Long hair spilled all the way down to the floor.

If this kept up, Peter was going to end this monster…

But Peter froze. His eyes went wide in pure disbelief.

He couldn't throw another punch. His whole body started shaking.

The person in front of him looked him dead in the eyes and smiled gently.

"What's wrong, Peter? Are you worried about me?"

Peter's lips trembled. He could barely speak.

"…Emma…? W-why…?"

Emma giggled.

"Oh, silly Peter. Talking like that to an enemy is a mistake. Let me teach you how you're supposed to treat enemies."

Her hand shot out, locked around Peter's arm, and yanked him into a brutal armbar.

"Kuh—!"

Then Peter saw her unzip her jacket, revealing what was inside.

Row after row of high explosives strapped to her torso.

"I'll take you to Wonderland with me."

She struck a match, lit the fuse, and tossed it inside her clothes.

"WH—"

KABOOOOOOOM!!!!!

A massive explosion forced everyone to shield their faces; some were even blown off their feet.

"What the hell just happened?!" Bobby yelled in panic.

"Why do I feel like this is about to get so much worse…?"

When the smoke finally cleared, everyone screamed in horror.

The shooter—no, she—was completely naked, the explosion having shredded her clothes, yet she was utterly unharmed.

But the person whose hair she was gripping… was in nightmarish condition.

Face melted and deformed, teeth exposed bone and teeth, charred flesh hanging off.

Lower body torn open, bones, intestines, lungs all spilling out. Both arms and legs gone.

All in all, he looked like a corpse that somehow hadn't died yet.

"…u…h…uhh…" A tiny, broken voice escaped.

No mistake. It was Peter.

"KYAAAAAHHH!!"

"…MONSTER!!!"

Everyone—mutants and humans alike—was paralyzed with terror, disgust, and rage.

Emma smiled brightly and lifted what remained of Peter by the hair like a trophy.

"My job here is done. Bye-bye~"

Bye-bye?! You think you can just say bye-bye and leave after this?!

Suddenly an overwhelming, suffocating pressure exploded from the mutants' side. The air itself seemed to grow heavy.

They turned and saw a blonde girl glaring at Emma with pure killing intent.

"I knew it. I always knew you were no good. I should've killed every girl who ever had feelings for Peter when I had the chance."

"Oh Gwen, no need to be so mad. You and Peter were never compatible anyway," Emma taunted.

"Say that again."

"Heh. You and Peter—"

Gwen fired a web-line and launched herself forward like a wild animal, murder in her eyes, ready to tear Emma apart.
