Hachiman's POV
The first half of the racing season is over, and now it's time for the Summer Series and debut races. July kicks off with the summer training camp, where participants head to the camp by bus for two months of intense training to prep for autumn G1 races. I joined the last two years, but this year, we're skipping it. Reasons? As I said before: no point pushing rookies before their debuts, and injury prevention comes first. Still, the girls who know about my reward dinners were practically desperate when they heard we're not going. So, I'm planning to cook in August—at the Mejiro estate. Saves on ingredient costs, so win-win.
Wonder how Oguri or Spe are reacting right now? Brian and McQueen are probably moping. But with Ritto Dorm's head and the student council vice president absent, it'll be a busy summer. Sorry, Rudolf. Guess next year we'll join, and I'll hear about it again…
Hachiman: "Alright, let's go."
Tresen Academy
Hachiman: "…It's quiet. Usually it's buzzing, but now it feels like a lie. So this is what it's like for those left behind."
Air Groove: "Morning, Hachiman."
Hachiman: "Yo, Air Groove. Morning. Heading to the clubroom?"
Air Groove: "Yeah, just got here. The others will show up soon."
Hachiman: "Got it…"
Fuji: "Morning, Hachiman-san♪"
Arrow: "Morning, Trainer."
Hachiman: "Speak of the devil. Morning."
Arrow: "Speak of?"
Hachiman: "Was just saying you'd show up. Let's head to the clubroom. This year's focus is building your bodies. Air Groove, Fuji, CB—you three might find it light, so you'll have a separate menu. Since we're skipping camp, we'll crank up the intensity."
Fuji: "Got it, thanks. Also, Hachiman-san, about the autumn route we discussed… can we talk?"
Hachiman: "Yeah? Alright, let's do it in the clubroom with everyone."
Fuji: "Sounds good."
Wonder what Fuji decided… Either way, I'll make sure she can give her all.
Minutes Later: Clubroom
Hachiman: "Everyone's here. Let's start. July's focus is body-building. Sounds basic, but it's key now. This is mainly for the six who haven't debuted… well, five, since CB's been joining our sessions. Air Groove, Fuji, CB—you'll do high-intensity training, not quite camp-level but close."
CB: "So, me, Air Groove, and Fuji will run together or something?"
Hachiman: "You and Air Groove are set for joint training, but Fuji's call depends on her autumn plan. So, Fuji, one more time: what's your route?"
Fuji: "I'm going for the Chrysanthemum Sho. I've come this far—I want to conquer all three crowns."
Hachiman: "…You sure? That route's no joke. For a mile-specialist like you, training will be mostly hill work to handle the distance. Still good?"
Fuji: "Yeah, absolutely. I'll overcome the 3000m wall."
Hachiman: "…Alright. You heard her—Fuji's training for the Chrysanthemum Sho, the final Classic. CB and Air Groove, you'll follow the same menu this summer. Now, Rice."
Rice: "Y-Yes!"
Hachiman: "You'll join Fuji's training. Your body's already solid, and you've got the stamina for long distances. CB could do it too, but focusing on Fuji means less time for her own training. Only Air Groove can keep up with CB right now. That's where you, a pure stayer, come in."
Rice: "If I can help, I'll do my best! Let's do this, Fuji-san."
Fuji: "Yeah, count on me, Rice."
Hachiman: "Good. To sum up: Air Groove and Fuji get high-intensity training. Fuji preps for the Chrysanthemum Sho. The other five focus on body-building, but Rice will also support Fuji's training. Pairs are: Bakushin-O and Maurice, Ardan and Arrow, Fuji and Rice, Air Groove and CB. Warm-ups and cool-downs are together."
Ardan: "Anii-sama, is that the plan for these two months?"
Hachiman: "Roughly. I might tweak it based on your conditions, but that's the framework. It's built around your distance aptitudes."
Ardan: "I see. Anii-sama… should Arrow and I train on turf or dirt?"
Hachiman: "Both. We'll switch every few days. Since you run both, I'll keep it balanced."
Ardan: "Very well, thank you."
Arrow: "Got it."
Alright, plan's set. Now to make them all unstoppable in these two months.
