Chapter 55 - Ch: 53

Hello everyone, this is Gon Freecss, surprised by Biscuit's somewhat premature appearance. Maybe due to Deposit Muscle—Muscle is Power's influence, seeing the original series' strongest teacher in person is amazing.

'Yes, that person is definitely my master, Biscuit Krueger.'

"Seriously!? This little shrimp!?"

'Don't be deceived by appearances, Killua. Especially with Nen users, that's even more important. I told you before—my master has abilities similar to Gon's.'

"Now that you mention it, you did call her a gorilla. And if she's Wing's master, that means she's a hag—'Hup!' Bwah!?"

"...Wing better brace himself."

'Hiieee!'

While understanding her ability, Gon's group contacted Wing to confirm the suddenly appearing Biscuit's identity. As a result, Killua and Wing became sacrifices, successfully guaranteeing her credentials.

After thoroughly lecturing Wing over the phone for a while, Biscuit turned back to Gon's group, placed her hands on her hips, thrust out her chest, and introduced herself again.

"Now that we've confirmed things, nice to meet you all. I'm Biscuit Krueger, Wing's master and Shingen-ryu instructor, a Stone Hunter with Double-Star rank. Feel free to call me Bisky-chan with affection."

"Tch, consider your age, you old ha—'Hyup!' What the!"

Having insulted her cutesy pose matching her appearance, Killua managed to react and dodge the second punishment.

"Oh my, you really are more polished than I heard. I have mixed feelings—like my fun has decreased but I'm also excited to see even greater radiance."

Seeing Killua and Kurapika who'd dodged her attack, and Leorio treating Hisoka, Biscuit nodded repeatedly before finally observing the weakened Gon with an indescribable groan.

"That's from a restriction, right? Even so, that physique and aura quality... no wonder Wing threw up his hands."

"Excuse me, Biscuit. We—especially Killua—have some complicated circumstances. You mentioned training us, but could you tell us your conditions?"

When Kurapika, impatient with Biscuit checking Gon's body through touch, asked about the instruction conditions, she clapped her hands as if remembering and presented them.

"The condition is helping me obtain the gemstone I'm currently seeking. From my research, it seems I need numbers rather than simple strength."

The gemstone's location: Greed Island, which had just been discussed.

"That tycoon Battera is holding a selection. You all participate too. I'll train you while simultaneously aiming to clear the game."

At the absurdly convenient timing that left Gon's group silent, Biscuit tilted her head. Kurapika accepted the conditions with a wry smile.

Even Killua, somewhat skeptical of Biscuit's ability, agreed for now. Having secured their word, Biscuit muttered that late nights were beauty's enemy and left.

After meeting with Gon's group, Biscuit's carefree introduction act vanished as she repeated serious contemplation.

Wing's maximum praise—never lying or compromising regarding martial matters despite being soft-hearted—and Netero's revival, his past sharpness returning while enjoying his remaining life.

Knowing both were influenced by Gon and his companions, the forceful contact she'd executed even through abuse of authority was definitely correct.

(Just from briefly facing and touching them, I can tell—everyone has protruding talent at a level that'll leave names in history. Having that gathered in the same era, same place, is abnormal.)

Jealous of Netero and Wing talking so enjoyably, having even procured the latest information of combat footage against the Phantom Troupe, Biscuit instantly fell as an instructor.

In the battle's first half: Kurapika manipulating four types of chains, even controlling the battle situation.

The dreadnought-class explosive power shown at the end was spectacular. Once she develops close-combat options, she'll truly have no openings.

(Her feelings surging toward and achieving one cherished wish are pure and innocent. Yet those diverse abilities show completely different hues depending on viewing angle. Shining in response to surrounding light, that figure is truly crystal.)

During the decisive battle, continually healing the Shadow Beasts and clumsily interfering: Leorio.

Healing abilities bordering on insane—not just keeping alive but returning to combat Kurapika, who bore wounds clearly fatal even through video.

(That generosity is simple yet endlessly attracts people. Medical abilities treasured since ancient times continue shining today. That existence governing longevity and prosperity is truly jade.)

Removed from battle through Nen ability yet breaking free from control through his own power and awakening: Killua.

Transforming aura into electricity—a Hatsu that shouldn't be masterable in one's early teens—wielding it skillfully, creating diverse techniques with frightening combat sense.

(Shining coldly yet never heartless. Rarity value and talent backing it deserve only the word "exceptional." That sharp blue overcoming instability is truly sapphire.)

Dwelling among human groups yet not losing his wildness despite gaining Nen ability: Gin.

Capable of becoming smarter and joining magical beasts' ranks, yet remaining a simple beast alongside Gon—that figure is nature itself.

(Associating yet never losing wildness. That figure maintaining nature's original state is beautiful precisely because human hands haven't touched it. That form with all natural-origin waste stripped away is truly a natural river stone.)

And Gon, who might make even Biscuit slip up in straight brawling, who fought Uvogin head-on and overcame even Illumi's interference to win.

Technique kept minimal, seizing victory through willpower and physical strength—that figure seemed unthinkable for someone in their early teens.

(The hardness of will continuing tireless training over long years. How far will that potential with no visible bottom raise a body already in the supreme realm? That orthodox radiance captivating all who see it is truly diamond.)

Even Biscuit, who prided herself on seeing and touching more gemstones than anyone in the world as a Gem Hunter, felt certain she'd never encountered such rough stones before nor would meet them again.

Savoring the realization of grasping the chance to polish and make these rough stones shine with her own hands, her cheeks flushed as unstoppable trembling spread through her body.

(It really is disgusting—a textbook case of the hunter becoming the hunted. Plus, I have zero regrets about it, so there's no saving me.)

Walking toward her planned hotel, Biscuit alone danced through Yorknew City's deserted night streets.

Spreading both arms with a beaming smile, she spun continuously while gazing at the urban night sky where stars couldn't be seen.

(Ah, how exciting! How far will those children's radiance, their strength, reach!? And what changes will I myself undergo through touching them!?)

Biscuit recognized both herself as instructor and herself as martial artist rising equally.

Masters raise disciples and disciples raise masters—that worn phrase felt more fresh than ever.

(The world is shining so brilliantly!!)

Looking up at the dark night sky yet seeing different radiance there, Biscuit's figure—combined with her lovely appearance—showed fairy-like charm and eeriness simultaneously.

Her solo dance without audience was watched only by invisible stars looking down.

(Still, that dangerous-looking hottie—he's already complete and boring as hell. Eye candy sure, but preferably I don't want to be around him.)

Whether the clown receiving Leorio's treatment sneezed tremendously or not remains unclear.

On the day of Battera's Greed Island player selection, Gon's group sat observing the unexpectedly numerous participants.

The participants easily exceeding 100 were naturally all Nen users. Though varying from excellent to mediocre, these numbers were truly spectacular.

"Let's begin judging immediately! One at a time, show me your Ten on stage divided by shutters and curtains. Selection concludes once 32 pass. First come, first served. Enter when ready."

At examiner Tsezguerra's opening declaration, participants split into three patterns:

Those immediately moving to take the test, those loitering around the queue, and those remaining motionless in their seats.

"What idiots. No need to move in such a rush."

"Really? If it's first-come-first-served, wouldn't moving quickly be better?"

"That's a feint, Leorio. Gathering everyone then not seeing them all would be nonsense. Plus, not many will pass."

"Exactly. Leorio needs to learn to doubt people more."

At Biscuit's advice while holding miniaturized Gon and Gin on her lap, Leorio looked somewhat displeased. Seeing such Leorio, Kurapika laughed at the hopeless guy.

Killua still wasn't accustomed to the two whose distance had clearly shortened since the Troupe's elimination. Never having learned male-female romantic perspectives fundamentally, he felt extremely uncomfortable.

Biscuit found amusement in the young couple's naive romance with elderly mischief, while Gon—raised on an isolated island with open sexuality—watched warmly.

Then Killua opened his mouth after casually glancing at Hisoka sitting separately, as if changing the pinkening atmosphere.

"Uh, just confirming again—that really is Hisoka, right? It's not my damn brother disguised, right?"

"I get the feeling, but we confirmed countless times yesterday. That's the genuine article, and he's acting separately for the reason he stated."

Killua's suspicion of replacement was natural, given Hisoka's proposal when Greed Island plans were decided last night.

A declaration: taking separate action from Gon's group at the selection and throughout Greed Island.

Having lost an arm but gained a superior Nen arm in exchange, Hisoka stated that while power increased, dexterity and discomfort from differences with the original arm meant he couldn't fully utilize it yet.

With Biscuit—the finest personnel—coming as Gon's group's instructor, Hisoka decided to aim for game clearing through separate approaches while familiarizing himself with his Nen arm.

"I think there's no worry either. That type is insane enough to lie meaninglessly, but they have lines they absolutely won't cross. Though I barely know him, he probably won't lie to Gon, right?"

"I agree. Maybe because I pierced him twice with Ruling Chain, I can roughly tell when he's lying. Hisoka's words contained no lies."

"Me too, but maybe he doesn't want to show himself not at full capacity? Always being battle-ready is basic mindset, but we're opponents wanting to fight each other at maximum."

"Gweh."

"Mmm, well, my damn brother actually dislikes roundabout methods. 'Come prepared' means he won't come himself, huh?"

With endorsement from other members, even Killua—nervous about the Zoldycks regarding Alluka and Nanika—somehow accepted it.

Confirming the stage queue had disappeared, Killua stood from his seat, sneering at those still observing at this point before walking forward.

"Well, let's end this farce quickly. Waiting alone is boring, so you all come soon too."

Advancing through the path other participants reflexively opened at his overwhelmingly confident stride, Killua disappeared into the stage.

Seeing such Killua, Gon's group simultaneously stood and walked forward. The already intimidated people retreated several more steps.

The fairly lengthy selection was approaching its end.

Tsezguerra, confirming each person as examiner, admitted and revised his underestimation of Leorio and companions.

Killua, arriving as top batter, displayed the incredible Hatsu of transforming aura into electricity. From his words' nuances, Tsezguerra was certain he'd shown almost none of his hand.

Next came Leorio, displaying the fairly common Emitter Hatsu of imbuing shock into objects. However, the high-rarity healing ability shown afterward was attractive enough to invite to his team.

The third, Kurapika, materialized chains possessing multiple abilities. Having defeated the Phantom Troupe, she presumably operated all chains without issue.

The fourth girl calling herself Biscuit—her martial artist ability visible at a glance made him feel she matched his own strength.

Then finally came the small participant, Gon.

This encounter would later tremendously influence Tsezguerra's way of being as a Hunter.

When tiny Gon—hardly seeming like a Phantom Troupe subjugation member—appeared on stage, Tsezguerra's first impression was far from positive.

An understandable mistake given his appearance acceptable as not just a boy but a toddler, plus the clearly juvenile small animal accompanying him.

"Before showing Ten, may I ask—or rather request—something from you, Tsezguerra?"

"Heh, well, I'll at least listen. Whether I accommodate that is another matter."

Gon's questions: Could he and Gin enter Greed Island together, and if only Gin was rejected, could Gin enter Greed Island solo next time?

After considering these questions briefly, Tsezguerra organized his thoughts before answering with a disclaimer that this was speculation:

"You can probably both enter the game. Otherwise, Manipulators of specific beings would be overwhelmingly disadvantaged. Of course two humans can't enter simultaneously, but with a beast, it should work somehow."

He added that if Gin was rejected, permission would be granted upon showing ability sufficient to challenge Greed Island solo.

"Thank you. Then Gin will show Ten first."

"Gumah!"

When Gin jumped from Gon's head and released compression, a beast surpassing Tsezguerra's build instantly appeared.

Tsezguerra was speechless while simultaneously understanding that Gin was undoubtedly a Nen beast bearing different aura from Gon.

"This is surprising. A beast awakening to Nen through its own power without human manipulation. Moreover, this aura—frustratingly, even I might lose."

Declaring Gin's pass, he shrank again and jumped onto Gon's head.

Finally came Gon's turn to show Ten, and expectations swelled for what this small challenger would display.

(Everyone exceeded expectations so far. What will this boy with such heavy Ten show?)

Gon's aura decreased slightly as he closed his eyes and breathed deeply—entering the preliminary stage before Ten's sudden aura increase.

(What Hatsu will you show? Display your training's culmination!)

When Gon opened his eyes and assumed stance, an unbelievable amount of aura erupted at once from his aura nodes.

(What ability is this? Surely you're not just showing Ten itself...)

The rising aura continued rising as if without limit, both quantity and quality deviating from Tsezguerra's comprehension.

(...What is this? Is this—is this aura humans can produce!?)

He'd once had opportunity to touch post-mortem Nen—that aura quality the living couldn't produce had been shocking. But impact far surpassing that assaulted Tsezguerra.

That aura was endlessly deep, endlessly heavy, endlessly strong, and endlessly clear—the radiance of life itself.

"...That's quite enough. Gon Freecss, I congratulate you on passing. A bit early, but welcome to Greed Island."

Watching Gon leave for the qualified participants' waiting floor with a beaming smile after exchanging thanks, Tsezguerra simply looked up at the ceiling during the brief time until the next participant arrived.

(A human that age producing that aura exists. Just what hellish training must one undergo to reach that realm? ...Hehe, training, huh? I haven't even done Nen basics like Ten practice in years.)

Tsezguerra deeply realized he'd been somewhere satisfied after gaining Single-Star rank through vigorous activity as a Bounty Hunter.

And he'd learned that a child who hadn't lived half his life ran far ahead of him while not being satisfied in the slightest.

(Time to retrain. Basic training is possible even within Greed Island. If humans can reach that far, I should still be able to go much further!)

Here another Hunter inspired by muscle raised his spirits with renewed determination. In the near future, he'd come to know the overwhelmingly superhuman power of muscle at full capacity.

If muscle stirred the heart, muscle would also break the heart.
