[Appalachian Mountains, USA, 2010]
Rain fell heavy on the eerie forest, yet two hikers braved through the eerie aura. They were male and female, the male was dressed in the usual hiking gear with the addition of a GoPro on his head, making a pseudo headband for his ginger hair. The female was dressed in the same attire as her male counterpart, but her dark hair was tied with a pink hair tie.
"Sam, can we take a break? We've been walking for hours..." The woman groaned as she turned around. Sam sighed, "Yeah I guess we can."
"Thank goodness!" She raised her hands to the sky and found a tree to lean against. Unbeknownst to the duo, something was watching them from afar. It was a shapeless figure of darkness with two red orbs being used as eyes.
"Hu-Hu-Humans." The entity said to itself quietly. The entity then began to examine Sam and slowly, it's shapeless form condensed into something more humanoid. The entity had no skin, no nose, no mouth, no ears, no hair, only two red eyes. Once it's transformation was complete, it no longer looked at the humans with curiosity, his gaze was now filled with hatred.
"An-Annihilate." The entity said as it began walking towards the duo. Sam heard the cracking of twigs and immediately drew his gun and aimed at the spot. The woman, Emilia, quickly got behind Sam with anxiety plastered on her face.
As the entity came into view, their eyes widened. A humanoid creature that looked like it was made out of darkness. When Sam decided to do this, it was mostly for content for his blog. He didn't expect to actually see anything supernatural!
"S-Sam, what is that thing?!" Emilia shakily asked. Sam gulped, he was too filled with fear to answer. The entity pointed at them, "I...kill...you." The entity's voice was gravely and deep.
Hearing those words, Sam pulled the trigger until his gun clicked. The bullets went right through the entity and the holes they caused were slowly closing.
"EMILIA, RUN!" Sam yelled as he took her hand and ran into the trees. The entity stared blankly, "Why...run?" It got into a running stance and took off with so much force that a chunk of the ground was removed. It quickly caught up to the duo and stopped in front of them. In an attempt to suddenly stop, Sam tripped on the muddy ground bringing Emilia down with him.
The entity quickly gripped Sam by the throat and lifted him up in the air. Sam tried prying it's hands off his throat but it's grip was otherworldly. The entity noticed the camera on Sam's head and pulled it off, confused about what it was. It then tossed it to the side and returned it's attention to a gasping Sam.
It basked in the despair filled gaze Sam gave him. A mouth was formed on it's face and it was gleaming with joy. The entity squeezed tighter and Sam's neck broke. It tossed his body aside and looked at Emilia who was cowering in fear.
He towered over her and contemplated killing her until he got a better idea. He lifted her up by her collar and pointed towards the trail, "You, live. Go, run."
He then dropped her to the ground. Emilia wasted no time and ran away from the entity, who was smiling. His theory was correct. When he touched Sam, he felt an unbreakable bond form between them, only this bond gave the entity total control over Sam's soul. When he let Emilia go, he touched her to test this ability again. And he was correct, although Emilia was running away, he could tell her exact location because of this bond.
"She bring me to more humans." The entity said to himself as he looked at Sam's corpse. Even though Sam was dead, the bond still existed.
"Get up." The entity commanded and Sam's corpse stood up. The entity fixed his neck and pointed at his camera, "What is?"
"That is a GoPro, a brand of cameras." Sam explained in a monotone.
"What is 'camera'?" The entity asked and Sam explained. The entity then began to ask Sam various questions about the world around him before the entity's curiosity was satiated. He then released control over Sam's corpse and looked in Emilia's direction. His questioning was a few hours long and the sun was beginning to rise.
"She has stopped moving." The entity got into a running stance and began to run in her direction. He was weaving through the trees at sixty miles per hour with an equally superhuman level of agility. The trees were beginning to thin and a road was paved. The entity stopped on a tree looking over where Emilia was, a Ranger's Cabin.

[Emilia POV]
"So, your boyfriend was killed by monster made of shadows?" The ranger restated what I said in an unbelieving tone. I'M NOT CRAZY!! I KNOW WHAT I SAW, I KNOW WHAT I SAW.
"Y-Yes. I swear to God! My boyfriend was recording this whole thing on his GoPro! I-If we find his body it'll be on the tape!" I practically screamed. I saw the look the rangers gave each other, they must think I'm some drugged up crazy bitch!
"Look Ms. Rothserland, how about you go to the bathroom real quick and wash up. There's a room here that you can use to...mellow out a bit with some sleep." Deputy Hillcrest, strongly suggested to me. I wanted to continue talking but I knew they weren't going to listen to me. I slowly nodded and followed him to the bathroom.
I closed and locked the door behind me and washed my face. Then...I saw the damned thing standing behind me.
"GET AWAY!" I screamed and tried hitting the creature but when I opened my eyes, nothing was there. I'M NOT CRAZY! I KNOW I SAW THE FUCKING THING! I grabbed my chest in an attempt to ground myself. My heart was racing.
After a few minutes, I slowly stood up and gained the willpower to take a shower. The rangers gave me a change of clothes and an MRE. I was lead to my room and once I was alone, I began to search whatever the fuck this creature was, but nothing of use came up.
I knew I shouldn't have come on this trip with him! I then heard a hard tap on the window and when I turned around, I was met with the creature's blank yet terrifying face.
"AAAHHHHH!" I screamed and fell off the bed. The creature then broke the window and began making it's way towards me. I scooted back screaming until my back hit the wall. The creature got closer and I felt it's cold hands around my neck.
"PLEASE! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I screamed and then my door bursted open.
"What's going on?!" Deputy Hillcrest yelled holding his gun. I then found myself against the wall, holding my own neck, and the window was in tact. Am I going insane? No, I swear I saw that thing! Deputy Hillcrest looked around the room and then at me. He holstered his gun and helped me up.
"A unit is coming to get you tomorrow morning, should we watch you to make sure you survive the night?" Deputy Hillcrest asked with his eyes full of pity. Something inside of me told me to grab his gun and put one between his eyes. The more I thought about it, the more correct it seemed until I snapped myself out of it. What in the world am I thinking? Killing an officer of the law?
"Ah, no. I'll be fine, I'm sorry deputy. Goodnight." I said and Deputy Hillcrest narrowed his eyes but nodded, "Alright. Goodnight Ms. Rothserland."
He closed the door and I was alone in the darkness again. I shuffled to the bed and tightly closed my eyes, hoping I won't see the creature in my dreams.
