"Mother!"
Xie Daiyu burst inside the cave; his face was etched with worry as he strode right into the small chamber where his mother was lying. When he saw the gashes on her back, Xie Daiyu felt his heart lurch to his throat. It wasn't like he hadn't seen his mother get injured before. It had happened many times in the past. But this was the first time he had seen his mother in such a perilous condition.
His mother knew that the entire tribe relied on her, and so, she had never taken a risk that would put her life at risk. But they never expected that someone would actually attack her in their tribe.
"Daiyu?" Chief Xie turned to look at Xie Daiyu when she heard his son's voice. She raised her head slightly and peered up at Xie Daiyu. "What are you doing here?" She then turned to look at her husband and said to him in a reproachful voice, "Did I not say that you shouldn't tell anything to Daiyu? Why did you tell him?"
