Chapter 6 - Chapter:6

The cat closed its eyes, and a big mirror materialized before them. Purple smoke billowed out of the mirror's surface, swirling and dancing in the air. "Let's go inside," the cat said, its voice low and mysterious.

Without hesitation, Mary and the cat stepped into the mirror. The world around her dissolved, and Mary felt a strange sensation, like she was being pulled apart and put back together again. When she opened her eyes, the cat was nowhere to be seen.

Disoriented, Mary looked around, taking in her new surroundings. She found herself standing in a breathtakingly beautiful garden, filled with roses of every color, butterflies flitting about, and trees that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The air was heavy with the sweet scent of blooming flowers.

As she breathed in the fragrance, Mary heard a voice behind her. She spun around, and her eyes landed on a man. Her heart skipped a beat, and she let out a startled scream. The man, too, seemed taken aback, and he took a step back, his eyes wide with surprise.

"Who are you?" Mary demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. "What are you doing here?"

The man hesitated before responding, "I live here. This is my home."

Mary's mind reeled with confusion. "Your home?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.

Just then, Mary caught a whiff of something burning. She scanned her surroundings, trying to pinpoint the source of the smell. Her gaze landed on the man's hands, and her eyes widened in shock. Flames danced across his palms, casting flickering shadows on the ground.

Mary gasped, her heart racing. "What's happening?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Why is there fire coming from your hands? Who are you? What's your name?"

The man glanced down at his hands, a look of familiarity crossing his face. He looked back at Mary, his eyes locked on hers. "My name is Kael," he said slowly. "And this...this is my superpower, one that I've had since birth. I can control fire, but sometimes it gets away from me."

Mary's eyes remained fixed on the flames, her mind struggling to process this new information. She had so many questions, but before she could ask any of them, Kael took a step forward, his eyes still fixed on hers.
