Arther tore off his rotten hands and blood gushed out like a fountain.
'System, activate Super Regeneration.' Aether commanded.
Ding'
[Activating Super Regeneration]
In an instant, bones pushed out from the bloody shoulder, and muscles began spiraling around them.
Tssssz! Skritch!
Nerves formed like silver threads, twisting around the bones and weaving through the muscle.
Then came the veins, crawling over everything like dark vines, bringing the arm back to life.
Both Left Guardian and Thalia were shocked to see his torn-off hands being healed. To them, it looked like an invisible machine was 3D-printing his arms, ignoring the laws of nature and pain.
Even with advanced magic, this should have been impossible.
Then,
Squelch Slrrrp
As the limbs finished forming, fresh skin stretched over them. One by one, the fingers took shape. The palm, the knuckles, even the nails formed.
Thus, both of his hands were completely healed.
"Young lord, what are you.." The left guardian asked in awe.
He had always felt Aether was special, but to regrow his arms like that. It was beyond anything he could imagine.
"Young Lord, are you perhaps contracted with a Celestial being?" the Left Guardian asked.
Just like Demon Kings choose their apostles, Celestial beings also choose people and grant them divine power. This bond is called a contract.
Those who receive such a contract are known as Incarnations.
Aether was also an Incarnation. His system window clearly showed the title: "Incarnation of the Forgotten God."
But he didn't know anything about who that being was, not even its name.
[ Owner's current status]
Name: Aether von Noctvain
Age: 15( 55)
Soul Realm: Sword Master -intermediate
Title:
• Incarnation of the forgotten god
• Regressor's younger brother
• The last Regressions
He once asked his brother, but his brother said it wasn't him, and didn't reveal who the being was.
Besides, the regeneration ability didn't come from the Incarnation power. It came from his system window.
Aether didn't even know how to use his Incarnation power, or what kind of power it really was.
"Why aren't you answering? Are you an Incarnation of a Celestial being?" the Left Guardian asked again.
"Ah…" Aether jolted. He had been lost in thought, wondering who his contractor really was.
"I don't want to answer" he firmly said. "Anyway, keep it a secret for now. I don't want others to know all my cards."
Then he looked at Thalia. He wanted to ask her to keep his regeneration a secret.
Or maybe he could just kill her to keep her quiet.
But as he turn to Thalia, he saw sometimes unexpected.
Thalia von Ravenfall, who was usually cold and arrogant, was bowing on the floor, crying and feeling helpless.
'What now? Is she crying because I might kill her?' Aether felt awkward.
"Please help my brother."
"Whaat?" Aether was dumbfounded, as something unexpected had come out of her mouth.
"I have a brother who has been unconscious for a year. Both his legs are severed. Please help." Thalia pleaded helplessly.
"So what? What can I do about your half-dead brother?"
"Please help heal his severed legs." Thalia said, her voice full of desperation.
When she saw Aether regenerating his torn-off hands, she knew he had a healing power that could regrow her brother's legs.
"Get lost. I'm not a righteous hero who helps others." Aether said coldly.
"Ah...." Thalia was speechless.
She was shocked by his cold attitude. But even if he wanted to help, he couldn't. It wasn't a magic spell or a blessing. It was a skill from his system, and he could only use it on himself, not on others.
"Please help me. I've found something that can wake him up. Now I just need your help. Please."
"Clear the smoke, Left Guardian." Ignoring her, Aether asked the Left Guardian to clear the dust.
Fwooosh
The Left Guardian moved his hand, and a strong wind blew away the fog and dust.
As the dust and fog cleared, everyone could see them. But the Ravenfall family's warriors were angry to see their lady on the ground, crying.
"Lady Thalia!" Thalia's personal maid shouted, and rushed to support her.
"You evil bastards! How dare you lay your hands on her…" Noah Bean was about to curse, but the Left Guardian interrupted him.
"Watch your mouth, vermin. This is The Noctvain territory."
Vwoooosh
The Left Guardian released an overwhelming spiritual pressure. It was so powerful that everyone from the Ravenfall family was knocked down. Only Thalia and her maid stayed conscious.
Meanwhile, Aether was staring at the spot where he had killed the Soulborne.
Not even its ashes remained. The Abyssal energy was truly dangerous.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance. He had planned to take its soul core.
Inside the Soulborne's soul core was a magical orb. It acted as a center that absorbed all the vengeful souls and condensed them into one form.
If a human swallowed it, they could gain an enormous amount of mana.
But Aether's Abyssal energy had completely erased it from existence.
Aether then turned to the Left Guardian and asked,
"Left Guardian, what about the hooded man you fought? Did you kill him?"
"No, I didn't." the Left Guardian replied. "I thought of keeping him alive to get information about the hooded men's organization."
"Hmm…please bring him here."
Aether asked him to bring the leader of the hooded men, Franklin.
The Left Guardian left for a moment and returned with Franklin.
Franklin was in a miserable state, as both his hands and legs had been cut off.
"You filthy noble dog… Just kill me." Franklin shouted, his eyes still burning with bloodlust.
Aether then leaned in closer and spoke in a mocking tone.
"You wanted to end slavery, yet you're working with nobles who torture slaves."
"What did you say, you bastard!" Franklin shouted, his face twisted with rage.
"Do you know that the organization you're part of actually works for the nobles? Under your orginazation there's a minor cultist group that makes aphrodisiacs. You're looking for them, right?"
Franklin's eyes went wide in shocked.
In his past life, Aether had heard about the hooded man. The Iron Fang Squad called him a failed hero, someone who wanted to end slavery but chose the wrong path.
"You're just a pitiful existence."
" You lier bastard, you're playing mind games now! " Franklin shouted. "
Aether then looked coldly into his eyes and said,
"People don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions to be destroyed."
