Chapter 2 – The Shadow That Watches Over Her

---

Morning came slowly to the quiet cabin, nestled far from towns, trainers, and noise. A golden light spilled gently through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the sheets tangled around two sleeping forms.

Elian woke first.

He didn't move, not at first. Misty's head rested against his chest, one hand loosely curled over his heart, her breath warm against his skin. She looked peaceful. Her long orange hair spilled over the pillow, and her body, bare beneath the sheets, pressed softly against his.

His arm rested over her back, fingertips barely brushing the gentle curve of her waist.

A small smile touched his lips.

Last night hadn't been a dream.

Her warmth still lingered on his skin. The memory of her soft moans, the way she trembled when he touched her, how she whispered his name as their bodies moved in rhythm — it still pulsed in his chest.

And now, here she was, wrapped in his arms, glowing like morning sunlight.

Misty stirred with a sleepy sigh, her eyelashes fluttering as she slowly opened her eyes.

"Elian?" she murmured, blinking up at him.

"I'm here," he said gently, brushing her cheek.

She blushed as the memory of the night returned. Her face flushed as she felt her body, still sore in places, still tingling where he had kissed and touched her.

"I… it really happened," she whispered.

He smiled. "It did. And it was beautiful."

She buried her face against his chest, hiding her embarrassment — but her hand didn't let go of him.

After a moment, she looked up again. "I feel… different. Inside. Like something warm is curled up inside me."

Elian's eyes softened. His fingers gently traced along her back, calming her breath. "That warmth… might be something new. Something beginning."

Misty's eyes widened slightly. "You mean—"

Before he could answer, a soft chime echoed faintly in his mind — like a bell ringing through water.

Elian's breath caught.

Darkrai? The mythical Pokémon that haunted nightmares… now a protector?

He sat up slightly, shifting Misty into a more comfortable position as she blinked in confusion.

"Elian…?"

"Nothing," he said softly. "Just… something whispered to me. A promise."

Misty tilted her head, still drowsy, her bare shoulder glowing in the light. "You're being mysterious…"

He smiled. "Stay here. Let me take care of you today."

Before she could protest, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her collarbone, then lower — kissing across her chest gently. When his lips reached her breast, he paused, meeting her eyes.

Her cheeks colored again, but she gave the faintest nod.

He slowly kissed the soft swell of her breast, then traced his tongue lightly around her nipple, savoring the quiet gasp that escaped her lips.

"Elian…" she whispered, voice trembling as she arched slightly beneath him.

He suckled gently, careful and slow. Her hand found his hair again, her fingers threading through it as her breathing grew uneven. Her thighs shifted slightly under the blanket, brushing against his hips.

Their bodies responded to each other again — not with urgency, but with need, closeness. They didn't rush.

He kissed her deeply, again and again. She clung to him, her chest rising against his as they lost themselves in each other again, wrapped in morning light and warmth.

When it was over, Misty curled up against him once more, sweat glistening lightly on her skin. She breathed softly, her hand over her lower belly.

"Elian… something's there," she whispered, voice full of wonder.

"I know," he said, pressing a kiss to her temple. "She's growing. I think she's already watching."

Outside the cabin, unseen to either of them, the shadows stirred.

In the branches of a tall pine, something dark moved — barely more than a whisper of mist. A red eye flickered in the gloom. Silent. Watchful.

Darkrai.

It didn't speak. It didn't move closer. But it remained there — invisible to all but the system — as if already guarding the life just beginning to bloom inside Misty's womb.

Not as a nightmare.

But as a sentinel.
