The sky cracked open just as Tina finished signing the last of the day's reports. The office was quiet, save for the faint hum of the air conditioner and the clicking of her pen against the polished desk. Papers lay neatly stacked, her laptop still open to the final spreadsheet, but none of it mattered.
She glanced at the window. Gray clouds had gathered suddenly, swirling like stormy thoughts above the city. And then it happened: the first heavy drops splattered against the glass, a rhythmic percussion that grew into an unrelenting roar.
"Oh no."
Tina muttered, standing and sliding her chair back. She grabbed her coat, though she knew it would do little against a sudden downpour. Her office heels clicked sharply against the marble floor as she hurried toward the elevator.
