Chapter 10 - Lurking Jealousy

Aiden took a coat and draped it over her shoulders with care while she stared at him in shock from his sudden movement.

"It's cold here unlike the warmth outside, it'll be bad if you catch a cold."

Paisley nodded her head bending her head and only whispering thanks. She tried maintaining a stern face to prevent her face from turning rosy red due to his actions.

"I'll get going now" she said as she hurried away after he had arranged the coat on her shoulders. Aiden smirked and walked after her while she entered the shopping mall.

Inside the mall, she picked a cart and started walking around the to gather things. Aiden had just entered and was immediately greeted by the female staff who was on duty.

"Alpha Aiden"_ She said as she bowed respectfully to him.

Aiden waved for her to not bother with him with his right hand, she on the other hand couldn't get the information and just continued pestering him.

"Alpha is there anything you'd like to buy? I can ask the staffs to select it for you".

"No, I'm here to accompany someone." Aiden replied abruptly only finding himself comfy on a sofa not far away as he waited for her.

The sales rep nodded Okay while still finding it confusing on who and why the Alpha would be waiting for. But she really couldn't dare ask or question him as she didn't have the guts to do so.

Meanwhile Paisley was inside collecting things she needed into the cart she was pushing. She pushed the cart round filling it with several things. Subitaneously, she turned her head looking back as if checking if someone was following her.

She scanned the environment, she tried assuming if it was Aiden but she dismissed the thought knowing she could have caught up his scent. She continued walking but still having that feeling of being watched by someone.

With the uncomfortability surging, she hastened her picking still occasionally casting glances around for any suspective movement.

On the other side, everyone eyes were fixed on a girl who just walked into the mall. She was no other than Caroline Myers, the famous daughter of one of the elders of the pack.

She came into the mall putting on a brown body con fitted off shoulder gown and white boots. Her entrance had attracted the attention of the guys in the mall including the sales reps who came to welcome her as she was quite the popular figure.

"Mrs Myers, what brings you here to the mall?" one of the sales rep asked.

"Just shopping, no need to bother yourself, I'll handle it soon". She replied and the sales rep left respectfully understanding the meaning in her words. She looked to her left and found a familiar figure sitting with his legs crossed, more like he was waiting for something—or rather more someone.

"How so you happen to be sitting in a shopping mall?" she said as she walked to him after recognizing.

Aiden raised a brow being amused by her sudden appearance. He smirked, relaxing himself once again in an elegant manner.

"It's a shopping mall, what do you think". He replied her casually but still having more of the unfamiliar aura lingering around their conversation.

Caroline laughs, just a little bit too quickly for the atmosphere. She straightens up again, assuming control of the situation at the moment as she moves closer, leaning on the back of the sofa but not directly proportional to where he was seated, just enough to feign interest.

"Guess I'll be quiet lucky today". She said with a hint of playfulness.

Aiden smirked, his feeling remained hidden in his concealed thoughts,

"Don't jump to illusionary conclusions just yet." he replied her.

She pouted, totally ignoring his last words. She continues watching him, with a fixed gaze as she searched for the familiar ease between them, but the indifference—not cold or distant, yet, he's somehow waiting, for something or rather someone.

Caroline tilts her head carefully, fully picking up and slight movement while he remained unmoved, "you seem distracted. Am I interrupting?" she asked.

Suddenly his eyes twitched, with a movement ahead catching his attention. He straightens slightly, his gaze flickering past the person ahead.

Paisley steps forward, holding a shopping bag filled with stuffs she had picked from the store. Aiden instinctively shifts, his focus drawn to her with a void expression.

Caroline paused, then turning to follow his gaze. Just then, she catches sight of the girl on the mask whom his focus seems to be upon.

"Who's that?" she asked with curiosity as she watched him. His posture changes and his expression softens slightly, suddenly she felt like the moment wasn't hers any longer. She smiles slowly, with her voice lighter than she feels.

"Seth's cousin from Silver Summit Pack" he replied.

Caroline smiles lightly, "Interesting."

Paisley meanwhile, had just stepped outside out and looked left when she saw a lady leaning onto the chair of Aiden. Curiosity spiked up as she wondered who she was.

However she didn't mind it and went to meet him.

"Alpha Aiden, I'll call my brother again so he'll come pick me up since you have a visitor." she said as she got to where he was and about to bring out her phone to make a phone call.

"Don't bother, he's probably overwhelmed by the excessive pilled up work in his office and can't even find his phone right now." Aiden replied and Paisley looked at him in surprise. " I'll drive you home."

She hesitated seeing the girl behind him whom he seemed to be chatting with. She how didn't refuse and nodded about to leave and wait for him by the car.

"See you next time." Aiden said to Caroline who also waved him goodbye.

Caroline watched as he left, she has seen the coat draped over Paisley's shoulders earlier. More like something which belonged to Aiden. However she didn't get a good look at her face due to the mask she had worn.

But she had seemed to read Aiden's expression just now. He seemed more warm towards her than usual. She bit her lips in frustration unknowingly and went into the shopping mall to get what she had normally wanted.

Meanwhile immediately Aiden and Paisley left the shopping mall to the parking lot, a figure stepped out. With a black hoodie the person covered his face, revealing only a dark shadow to see. He chuckled before leaving and taking out his phone along the way to send a string of text.
