Chapter 524: The Woman on the Hill
One Month Before
The order Craig had given still hung in the air as Tobias and the others resumed walking.
The warriors moved on as if nothing had happened. As if a child had not just died in the dirt behind them.
Tobias kept pace with the group, his expression carefully blank. The streets slowly changed as they moved forward. The smell of rot faded little by little, replaced by cleaner air that carried the faint scent of pine and damp earth.
The ground beneath their boots began to slope upward.
A hill. Tobias wasn't surprised. The west was known to be filled with hills, but this was the first one they were actually walking on since they came. And that made him wonder if there were also smaller packs hidden in the midst of the hills.
